Mr. Liu Zehe and his wife, Ms. Jin Lixia, from Daqing were arrested for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on June 18th, 2010. Ms. Jin experienced heart problems and was sent to a hospital for emergency treatment. Wolitun Police Department officers took this opportunity to force Ms. Jin's under-age son to borrow money.

Yixi patrol police arrested Mr. Liu and his wife Ms. Jin from Yixi, Daqing City around 9:00 a.m. that day and took them to the Wulitun Police Department where the couple was separately held and interrogated.

The police took Mr. Liu's ID card and the key to his home from his pocket. They let themselves into the couple's newly rented residence in Yixi and ransacked it. They seized a notebook computer, two printers, more than a dozen Falun Gong books, more than 50 copies of materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, a box of copy paper and other personal property.

Ms. Jin refused to comply with the police's unreasonable interrogation, and refused to sign a document according to a police officer's demand.

Ms. Jin exhibited symptoms of heart problems during the interrogation. The police thought she was faking, but later sent her to the No.5 Hospital in Yixi for medical treatment. The doctor who diagnosed her symptoms of rapid heartbeat suggested that Ms. Jin be hospitalized; otherwise, the consequences could be serious, as her symptoms could be precursors to a heart attack. The police deceived Ms. Jin's son into going to the hospital, then ordered him to borrow 5,000 yuan1 for his mother's medical expenses. The sixteen-year-old could not help but cry facing the police's unreasonable demand, and seeing his mother sick. Ms. Jin consoled her son and told him that she would be all right after returning home. The police later forced Ms. Jin's son to borrow 1,000 yuan. He gave it to them.

The police then told Ms. Jin's son to take his mother home, and left the hospital in a hurry. Ms. Jin returned home around 5:00 p.m. with her son supporting her.

Officers from the Wolitun Police Department broke into Ms. Jin's home again the morning of June 21st, 2010, forced her son to give them 5,000 yuan and sign a document. They threatened they would send Ms. Jin to a forced labour camp if no money was handed in.

Ms. Jin decided to stay away from home in spite of her poor physical condition. Her teen-age son is now home alone and worried the police may come to harass him again.

Mr. Liu Zehe was taken to the Daqing City No.3 Detention Centre the afternoon of June 18,th 2010.
