As directed by provincial level 610 Office authorities (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), the local 610 Office in Chengde County arrested Falun Gong practitioners from eight counties and three districts, and forced them into a brainwashing centre located at the Nanshan Hotel in Shanbancheng, Chengde. The following are detailed accounts.
On June 11th, 2010, police officers from the Domestic Security Division in Shuangluan District arrested Falun Gong practitioner Li Baichun while he was at home and took him to the brainwashing centre.
On June 18th, someone from the Kuangji Community coaxed Falun Gong practitioner Li Guihua into the community, where more than ten policemen from the Domestic Security Division in Shuangluan District waited. They arrested Li Guihua and took him to the brainwashing centre in Shangbancheng.
On July 15th, together with the 610 Office in the Shuangluan District and more than ten people from the Kuangji Community, and policemen from the Domestic Security Division went to Falun Gong practitioner Zhu Guimin's home to arrest her. They tried to force her to sign the repentance statement to renounce practising Falun Gong but she refused. Ms. Zhu is living with her father-in-law, who is in his eighties and has had a stroke. Despite her father-in-law's condition, police officers stayed and harassed the family for more than seven hours, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Other Falun Gong practitioners have been harassed by Wang Aijie, Zhu Zihui and other people from the Kuangji community.
With his underlings, Li Xiaopeng, director of the Luanhe Town Judicial Department, attempted to harass Falun Gong practitioner Dong Duoli several times. When they could not find her, they asked Ms. Dong's husband to persuade her to give up her belief, and to sign the statements. Li Xiaopeng asked his underlings to follow Ms. Dong and her family and monitor them closely. Li Xiaopeng came to harass her again, but once again, they could not find her. Li Xiaopeng then sent her threatening messages. One of his underlings called Ms. Dong and asked her to go to the brainwashing centre to sign the statements. He threatened that if she did not sign them, the daycare facility she owned would be closed. Her family later went to see Jiao Shuchang, head of Shuangluan Police Bureau. Jiao did not administer justice at all. Instead, he asked Ms. Dong's family to take her to sign the statements, and asked her to defame Falun Gong and promise not to practise Falun Gong.
