Falun Gong Practitioner Zhang Sifeng Taken to Brainwashing Centre Again

Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Zhang Sifeng has been arrested by the 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] and National Security Team of Hanyang District, Wuhan City multiple times. He has been detained in forced labour camps twice for one-year terms. He was also detained in Hubei Province Brainwashing Centre many times.

In 2000, Mr. Zhang Sifeng traveled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After he returned, the Hanyang District 610 Office and National Security Team police arrested him and detained him in the Tangxunhu Brainwashing Centre. During this period he was transferred to the Taojialing Brainwashing Centre in Hanyang District and the Yangyuan Brainwashing Centre in Wuchang District.

In 2001, Mr. Zhang was sentenced to a forced labour camp for one year by the 610 Office and Public Security Bureau of Hanyang District. During this period, when he was detained in Hewan Labour Camp in Wuhan City, he was forbidden to sleep, was forced to work long hours, was forced to stand for long periods, and was subjected to brainwashing tactics.

In early September 2002, Mr. Zhang was arrested by officers from Jianqiao Police Substation and officials of the local 610 Office. He was detained again in the Taojialing Brainwashing Centre.

On October 25th, 2006, the Wuhan City 610 Office arrested a group of practitioners. Mr. Zhang Sifeng was arrested at the Jianghan District Electrical Power subdivision by police officers from the National Security Team of the First Department of the Wuhan City Public Security Bureau and police from Wansongyuan Police Substation of Jianghan District. He refused to give his name, but on October 27th, Yang Ronghua, the head of Hanyang District 610 Office and Hanyang District Public Security Bureau National Security Team (First Department), identified him. He was then transferred to the Taojialing Brainwashing Centre again and detained for over one month. During this period he was also detained in the Jiang'an District Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre. He was forbidden to sleep for ten days and was interrogated with torture. On December 13th, he was transferred to the Hanyang District Detention Centre.

In early January 2007, Hanyang District Public Security Bureau National Security Team officials sent Mr. Zhang Sifeng to the Hewan Forced Labour Camp for one year of detention. On January 6th, Lei Changwen, the team lead of the second team of the forced labour camp, ordered the cell leader to beat up Mr. Zhang. On June 6th, Mr. Zhang's wife went to the labour camp to visit him, but was given a hard time by the labour camp guards under the orders of Lei Changwen. She ultimately was not allowed to see her husband.

On December 3rd, Mr. Zhang Sifeng's term was over. His family was waiting for him at the gate of the labour camp from early in the morning. The labour camp refused to release him and turned him over to Ye Xinni, director of the 610 Office of Hanyang District, and Zeng Yulin, director of the 610 Office in Jianqiaojie. These two people sent Mr. Zhang to the Taojialing Brainwashing Centre and continued to detain him. They also forced his former employer, the Huayuan Electrical Power Engineering Company, to send two employees to the brainwashing session to watch him day and night.

Mr. Zhang was eventually transferred to Hanyang District Brainwashing Centre for one month. He was finally released on January 8th, 2008. After he returned home, he was constantly watched and followed by the officials from the Jianqiaojie 610 Office and by others who were not aware of the facts about Falun Gong. Details such as what time he left home and when he returned home were all reported. During this period, officials from the 610 Office and other officials went to his home to harass him many times.

On the morning of May 7th, Mr. Zhang Sifeng was arrested by the Jianqiaojie 610 Office while he was at work. In order to arrest a quota of of Falun Gong practitioners based on orders from above before the 2008 Olympics, the Hanyang District 610 Office went everywhere in their district to harass and attempt to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. They were not successful and so they went to the Huayuan Electrical Power Group in Qilimiao and arrested Mr. Zhang. He was then detained in the Taojialing Brainwashing Centre for six months.

On the morning of September 6th, 2010, Mr. Zhang Sifeng was arrested by police from the National Security Team of the First Department of the Wuhan City Public Security Bureau, and the police substation of Jianqiaojie, as well as some other people from the community. He was detained in Hubei Province Brainwashing Centre. His father-in-law is currently hospitalized due to a bone fracture, and his mother-in-law has been sick in bed. His family needs his care urgently. His wife gave him 3,000 yuan¹ for the medical treatment of his mother-in-law, but the money was taken by the police and government officials.
