Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wu Zuqiang and his son Mr. Wu Xianjin from Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province were taken to a brainwashing facility in Maoming City. The sign outside the facility reads "Law Education School." Local Political and Judiciary Committee officials dispatched officers in 11 vehicles to surround Mr. Wu's residence before making the arrest and ransacking his home.
Mr. Wu and his son were previously subjected to frequent persecution. Mr. Wu's relatives went to the Gaozhou City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Gaozhou Police Department to demand the unconditional release of their loved ones and the return of confiscated personal belongings, but were denied entry to the police department.
Three police officers arrested Mr. Wu Zuqiang on the street in Gaozhou on the afternoon of October 25th, 2010. They took Mr. Wu's house key from him. Maoming Political and Judiciary Committee officials dispatched personnel from related organisations who arrived at Mr. Wu's home in 11 vehicles. Officer Zhan Jie and others ransacked it and confiscated personal belongings including a computer, a printer, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, an MP3 player, the residential permit, a retirement card, the household registry, identification cards, a bank deposit book, more than 26 thousand yuan1 cash, and other personal belongings. They arrested Mr. Wu's son Mr. Wu Xianjin at the same time.
Mr. Wu Zuqiang, 63, lives at the Shengli Farm in Guangdong Province. He travelled to Beijing after New Year's Day in 2000 to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was placed under 15-day administrative detention. He went to Beijing for the second time in March that same year and was subsequently held in the Gaozhou No.1 Detention Centre.
Gaozhou City Court presiding judge Ding Qiting sentenced Mr. Wu to three years in prison and sent him to the Sihui Prison. Gaozhou Political and Judiciary Committee officers took Mr. Wu against his will to the "Maoming Law School," a brainwashing facility, on April 11th, 2005, when Mr. Wu was working the night shift in the Wantong Company in Gaozhou.
Mr. Wu Xianjin, about 34, was a student in 1996 at the Shantou University Medical College Clinical Department in Guangdong Province. He travelled to Beijing after New Year's Day in 2000 to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was placed under 15-day administrative detention. The university officials ordered him to withdraw from the university. In March that same year he went to Beijing once again and was subsequently held in the Gaozhou No.1 Detention Centre. Gaozhou City Court presiding judge Ding Qiting sentenced him to three years in prison and held him in the Sihui Prison. The head of the prison administration office made official Zhang subject Mr. Wu to long-term sleep deprivation. He was shocked with electric batons numerous times and violently beaten while his hands were cuffed behind his back.
Following his release, Mr. Wu Xianjin bought a computer and a printer to tutor high school students. However, Gaozhou Police Department's Section 1 officers Zhan Jie, He Sheng and others ransacked his home one evening in February 2004, and confiscated his computer and printer, and a mini TV set. Mr. Wu was then subjected to three years of forced labour. While he was held in the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp, Party secretary Tong Chaoyin ordered Mr. Wu to be locked up in solitary confinement many times. Mr. Wu was shocked with multiple electric batons and force-fed more than once.
Mr. Wu was released from the labour camp in early 2007. Yuhang Vocational Training School in Gaozhou hired him in March that same year. On his way to Xuancheng City, Anhui Province on May 10th, 2007 to recruit new students, train police officers checked identification cards. Mr. Wu was subsequently held in the railway detention centre. The guards force-fed him and made his throat bleed. He was later transferred to the Nanhu Forced Labour Camp in Anhui Province, where he was deprived of freedom for two years.
While he was held in the camp's newly arrived team, deputy team head E ordered Mr. Wu to be tied to the frame of a metal bed. Team head Dong Hui and guard Yuan Baoping kept beating his legs and hands with a wooden stick. Mr. Wu was unable to walk. His captors did not stop torturing him until he agreed to do hard labour, which he had to do daily without pay. The only food provided was winter melon soup and turnip. The abuse made him emaciated. He was physically weak, and his head often involuntarily shook. He could not manage to carry any slightly heavy thing while walking a long distance.
Mr. Wu Xianjin was released in May 2009 and nursed his body at home. Shengli Farm officials sent two security personnel to monitor his home around the clock during the Chinese Communist Party's 60th anniversary.
Gaozhou Domestic Security Division officer Zhan Jie and others arrived at Mr. Wu's home on the afternoon of October 25th, 2010 and took him to the Domestic Security Division office. Zhan Jie declared he would torture Mr. Wu to death, and that he was not afraid of being exposed online for his bad deeds.
