Ms. Shi Rongxian, Ms. Duan Shuyan, and Ms. Dong Qinglan Arrested in Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province

The police from Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province arrested three practitioners on November 3rd, and ransacked their homes. They are being held in the county detention centre.

On November 3rd, Ms. Shi Rongxian, Ms. Duan Shuyan, and Ms. Dong Qinglan talked to villagers about Falun Gong in the remote area of Yilan County. Someone dialled 110 and reported them to the county Domestic Security Division. At approximately 3:00 p.m., three officers from the Jiangwan Town Police Station intercepted their rental van in the former Xinli Village, Tuchenzi Township. The three women were arrested and taken to the Yilan County Domestic Security Division.

Director of the division Zhang Yingduo and Deputy Director Song Yuzhe ordered the practitioners to be detained for 15 days and to also search their homes. The officers threatened them and their families that they would be sent to a forced labour camp if they did not write the three statements to renounce practising Falun Gong.

Ms. Shi has been arrested seven times by the Yilan County Police Department. She was tortured at the Yilan County Police Department Secondary Detention Centre. Her home was repeatedly ransacked by police. Her husband, Mr. Zhang Keming, died on March 26th, 2006, after being tortured in the Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp.

The three practitioners are now at the Yilan County Detention Centre.
