Practitioner Ms. Li Guomin from Tangshan City was arrested at her rented residence in Hancheng on January 28th, 2011. Approximately seven officers from the Wenhu Road Police Station and from the Hancheng Police Station made the arrest, and took her to the Tangshan Detention Centre. Ms. Li was later sentenced to two years of forced labour.
Ms. Li Guomin, 53, is an employee at the Tangshan Construction Group. She suffered from many illnesses such as rheumatoid arthritis when she was only 28 years old. She went to many doctors in search of a cure, but found no relief. Ms. Li started practising Falun Gong in December 1995. Through faithfully following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she elevated her mind and improved her moral character. In just a few months she regained her health. Ms. Li was so delighted. A person who needed others to take care of her turned into a kind and happy person who readily helped others.
Wenhua Road Police Station officers unsuccessfully attempted to arrest Ms. Li on August 11th, 2010, so they took her husband, who does not practise Falun Gong, to the police department.
The police also searched her mother's home while looking for her on September 25th, 2010. Her parents and parents-in-law, in their 80s, were saddened to hear that Ms. Li could not return home. The trauma caused Ms. Li's father-in-law to be hospitalised for a week, and her mother was bed-ridden for five days. All of her family members are worried about her safety.
Ms. Li was eventually arrested and held in the Tangshan Detention Centre in January 2011, and was later sentenced to two years of forced labour. She is now being held in the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan.
