Beijing Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Du Juan has been so severely persecuted in the Beijing Women's Prison that she is now on the brink of death. She is suffering with untreated late-stage cancer. Her relatives have asked for her to be bailed out for medical treatment several times, but the prison officials have refused to do so.
Ms. Du's cancer is in its late-stages. The cancer has entered her lymph nodes and is spreading. Her situation is very critical. The pain is only tolerable with lots of painkilling injections. Her family members have asked for her to be bailed out, but the prison has refused to allow it, because Ms. Du is refusing to give up her practice of Falun Gong and following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Ms. Du is a Beijing resident in the Chaoyang District. She was arrested on May 6th, 2010, sentenced, and admitted to the Beijing Women's Prison. This is her second time in this prison. Throughout the past year, due to the tight security in the prison, there has been no information regarding the persecution she has suffered. We can only guess at the immense torture from the current plight of her health.
Ms. Du's father is over 80 and she has a a mentally-handicapped son. Her father, who used to be a military doctor, is deeply distressed at his daughter's imprisonment and the brutal torture she has had to endure. Now that she developed cancer and is on the brink of death just for trying to be a good person according to the principles of Falun Gong, he does not even have the strength to ask for her release. He has had to rely on other relatives. Despite the family's demands, the prison staff says that, because Ms. Du refuses to give up her belief in Falun Gong and says she would continue to do Falun Gong-related work after being released, she cannot be released. The prison also made up other excuses, saying that her term is not even half over, and thus she cannot be bailed out. Even if she is released, no hospital could cure her.
We call on all compassionate people and righteous organizations and governments around the world to speak out against the persecution of Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) crimes against humanity. Please help Ms. Du Juan so that she can return home and recover in the precious time remaining.
