After Being Arrested Over Thirty Times for Practising Falun Gong Exercises Publicly, Ms. Zhu Xiyu Is Persecuted Again

Ms. Zhu Xiyu is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yanji City, Jilin Province. She has persisted in publicly practising Falun Gong exercises in the morning at Jindalai Square for many years, and she has been persecuted by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) over and over again. Ms. Zhu received a written indictment on May 25th from the Yanji City Procuratorate.

Ms. Zhu has been arrested about 30 times for publicly practising the exercises at Jindalai Square during the past 12 years, since the communist regime started its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. The perpetrators from the Yanji City Domestic Security Team and the 610 Office have arrested her several times this year. She was sent to a mental hospital once and was injected with unknown drugs; after another arrest, she was dragged into a brainwashing centre.

The officials sent Ms. Zhu to Yanbian Mental Hospital on March 3rd and forced her to go through a so-called “mental evaluation.”

Ms. Zhu has been arrested multiple times, and held in detention centres and forced labour camps. She has gone on hunger strikes several times to protest the persecution.

Ms. Zhu was practising the exercises in Jindalai Square on March 30th and was arrested again by the police and sent to Dacheng Brainwashing Centre. She was dragged into the police car and her trousers were torn. The police pulled her hair to get her upstairs, ripping some of it out. At the brainwashing centre, she was tied up onto a frame for one hour and was tortured. She became extremely thin within just a few days. The perpetrators did not realise any benefit from the torture. They are planning a sentence now.

One perpetrator who has participated in the persecution of Ms. Zhu is the Procuratorate official Pu Mingyu.
