Retired elementary school teacher Ms. Wu Guohui from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia was put on trial at a Balinzuo Qi Court on September 14th. The lawyer entered a “not guilty” plea.
Ms. Wu and her husband were arrested on June 5th, 2011 because they practise Falun Gong and have been detained for over 110 days. At present, she is extremely weak physically due to torture. She has symptoms of heart disease and anemia.
On the trial day, there were over 50-60 police officers from a special duty unit, police department and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Only 30 spectators were allowed in the Balinzuo Qi court. The lawyer and spectators were all searched and registered. Ms. Wu's 15-year-old daughter was denied entrance and turned away.
The spectators who were not allowed to participate were forced to leave by the police. People were asking why they were not allowed in and one police officer even used an electric baton to shock them. Some police officers took pictures and videotaped the crowd while many plainclothes police kept taking pictures of the spectators. They also restricted everyone from using the toilet. It was reported that the day before the trial, Li Wei, the deputy head of the Judicial Bureau, called to threaten Ms. Wu's lawyer.
Ms. Wu suffered from heart disease, headache and rheumatism since she was young. She started practising Falun Gong in 1996 and just within four days, her ailments completely disappeared.
Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, the local regime agents have been continuously harassing Ms. Wu and her family. The family was fined, their home ransacked and monitored. The persecutors from the Residential Committee also harassed the family during New Year's Eve. Ms. Wu was forced to leave home to avoid the persecution, leaving her 70-year-old mother-in-law and 10-year-old daughter. The family has been living in fear and worry.
