Six Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province

Six Falun Gong practitioners were tried in a court in Tongchuan District, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province on December 21st, 2011. Four were in their sixties. Seven days later on December 28th, they were sentenced to between three and ten years of imprisonment.

The practitioners included:
Ms. Tao Dafeng (64 years old, former head of the budget division at Tongchuan District Financial Bureau)
Ms. Xia Bi (57 years old, retired from the Tongchuan District Beer Factory)
Mr. Xu Chengzhong (75 years old, retired from the Dazhou City Cotton Mill)
Mr. Ran Wenxue (62 years old, retired from the Dazhou City Sugar and Alcohol Company)
Ms. Li Junru (also known as Ms. Li Lei, 47 years old, retired from the Tianli Weaving Factory)
Ms. Guo Defen (64 years old, retired from the Fuwei Candy Factory)

In court, Mr. Xu refuted the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prosecutor's falsified charges. That afternoon, the court officers forcibly took Mr. Xu to the Tongchuan District Public Security Bureau and held him there. However, he got very sick and was later released.

On December 28th, a judge at the Tongchuan District Court sentenced Ms. Tao to ten years in prison, Ms. Xia to eight years, Mr. Xu to five years (he was allowed to serve his sentence outside of prison because of his high blood pressure), Mr. Ran to five years, Ms. Li to five years, and Ms. Guo to three years. No one was allowed to hear their case. Only the judge, a court officer, and the practitioners were in the courtroom that day.

On July 3rd-19th, 2011, Jiao Weixia, the new CCP Secretary in Dazhou City, ordered members of the Political and Legal Committee, agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), and officers from the Public Security Bureau to conduct a large-scale arrest of practitioners. As a result, a total of 20 practitioners were arrested, including the six listed in this report.

The CCP court issued arrest warrants after they began trying practitioners in court. The practitioners' families were not informed and no one was allowed to hear the cases in court.

Those who have been actively participating in the persecution of Falun Gong since July 1999 include:

Wang Jun and Liang Hongwei, captains of the Domestic Security Brigade of the Tongchuan District Public Security Bureau, and Li Jiang and Pan Junlan, captains of the Da County Public Security Bureau.
