Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yu Jianhua and his wife, Ms. Yang Lianzhen, from Changchun City, Jilin Province, were harassed by Liaoyuan police, who were banging on the door of their newly rented apartment in Nanguan District for a long period of time, on July 1st, 2012. In order to avoid arrest, the two practitioners started to climb down from their second level apartment. However, they both fell to the ground. They were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Mr. Yu died on July 4th. Ms. Yang is still in a coma and is in critical condition.
On July 1st, the Liaoyuan police went to the Nanguan District and arrested several practitioners. The police sent two police vans and confiscated a large number of boxes of printing paper, several printers, computers, and materials exposing the persecution. The Liaoyuan Domestic Security Division and the Domestic Security Division of the Dongliao County Police Department took part in these arrests. It is said that Liaoyuan police have been following several practitioners for a long period of time, and tapped their telephones.
