Vice President of the European Parliament Meets Rescued Falun Gong Practitioners in US Capital
2013-03-18When Vice President of the European Parliament Edward McMillan-Scott attended a hearing on human rights in China in Washington, DC, on March 4, 2013, he met with Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Lianying and her family. Very active over the past few years in the effort to rescue this family, he was excited to see them in DC and made the comment that the persecution in China “would not last much longer.”

On World Human Rights Day, Finland Amnesty International Called for Release of Zhenping Chen
2013-01-11On December 10, 2012, Amnesty International in Helsinki, Finland, celebrated World Human Rights Day by calling for the immediate release of Ms. Zhenping Chen, a Falun Dafa practitioner currently imprisoned in Zhengzhou City, China. The human rights organization also launched a national online petition to help secure her release.

United Kingdom: Leeds City Council Hears the Facts about Falun Gong
2012-08-07On July 11, 2012, at a General Assembly of the Leeds City Government, UK Falun Gong practitioners recounted the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong to the Mayor of Leeds, nearly 100 councilors, and a dozen senior officials of the municipal government. They asked the Leeds Council to make a public statement calling for an end to the CCP persecution of Falun Gong.

Italy: Florence Provincial Council Adopts Resolution Calling for an End to the Persecution of Falun Gong
2012-07-24The Provincial Council of Florence, Italy unanimously passed a resolution on the protection of religious freedom in China on June 27, 2012. It calls for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong, and an investigation into the disturbing reports of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. The resolution was drafted by Massimo Lensi, member of the People of Freedom Party.

Czech Senate Human Rights Committee Resolution: Stop Persecuting Falun Gong
2012-06-26On May 23, the Czech Senate Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Human Rights, and Petitions reached a unanimous agreement to call for a stop to the persecution of Falun Gong in China, and passed a resolution.

Amnesty International in the Czech Republic Calls for Releasing Illegally Detained Falun Gong Practitioners
2012-05-26Ms. Jin Zhaoyu said that her mother's ordeal embodies the experiences of tens of thousands of illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners in China. She said, “I hope the governments and the media in all countries will pay attention to the case of my mother, help rescue my mother, release all Falun Gong practitioners, stop the persecution, and restore Falun Gong's good name.”

Flemish MP Notifies South Korean President of His Support for Falun Gong Practitioners Seeking Asylum in South Korea
2011-10-25Mr. Ward Kennes, Flemish MP and the Mayor of Kasterlee, a community in Belgium, sent a letter to the President of South Korea in support of persecuted Chinese Falun Gong practitioners seeking asylum in South Korea. A copy of the letter will also be sent to Ambassador Ho-Young AHN of the South Korean embassy in Belgium (Korean mission to the EU).

Member of European Parliament Calls on South Korea to Stop the Repatriation of Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-09-16“I understand that recently around a hundred Falun Gong members of Chinese origin have applied for asylum in South Korea and been refused asylum, while ten of them have been forcibly repatriated to China. On the face of it, this, if true, would appear to put the republic of Korea in breach of its obligations under international treaties, given the strong possibility that these persons when repatriated to China would be seriously mistreated."

European Members of Parliament Write to Support Falun Gong

On July 20, Members of the European Parliament, Zuzana Roithova and Ana Gomes, wrote letters to Falun Gong practitioners to condemn the CCP's persecution and express their support to Falun Gong practitioners.

Slovakia: Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day, MEP Signs a Petition Calling for an End to the Persecution
2011-06-01On Saturday, May 14, 2011, Falun Gong practitioners from Slovakia commemorated World Falun Dafa Day by holding an event in SNP Square in Bratislava. The passersby were drawn especially by the exercises, which the practitioners demonstrated. Many asked about the persecution in China and some signed a petition calling for an end to the persecution.

Italian Youth Minister Expresses Indignation at the Persecution
2010-12-03On November 13, 2010, Falun Gong practitioners from more than twenty countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands and Belgium, gathered in Rome, the capital of Italy, to hold a massive parade. Many EU and Italian officials wrote letters or came to join in the parade in support of Falun Gong.

French National Assembly Member Puts Forward a Motion Regulating Organ Transplantation
2010-10-31Ms. Valerie Boyer held a press conference to introduce the motion she is proposing to the assembly. The motion will require French residents that go to other countries to get organ transplants to provide proof of the source of those organs. The motion mentioned specifically the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) crime of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.

Germany: Mayor of Offenbach am Main Pledges Support to Daughter of Falun Gong Practitioner Imprisoned in China
2010-09-06On July 18, 2009, 62-year-old Ji Guizhen, a Falun Gong practitioner from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, was arrested for her beliefs. Her daughter, Xu Anlan, and other family members haven't seen her since. After being illegally imprisoned for a year, Ji Guizhen was handed a two-year labour camp sentence for possessing Falun Gong informational materials calling for the end of the persecution.

Slovakia: Falun Gong Practitioner Describes Torture He Endured in China to Slovak Members of Parliament
2010-08-01On July 19, Mr. Liu Hongchang visited Slovakia. Mr. Liu spent 5 years in a Chinese prison because he practised Falun Gong. He was received by two members of the Slovak parliament, Mr. Dostal and Mr. Sebej, who heard his story. The MPs expressed their sympathy for the people in China who are persecuted for their beliefs.
