Mr. Ji Xinhai Became Bedridden Due to Torture During Imprisonment
2010-09-13
Mr. Ji Xinhai, 36, was arrested on July 10th, 2008, during the Beijing Olympic Games. He was sentenced to four years in prison and severely tortured, as a result of which he became bedridden and could no longer take care of himself. On March 1st, 2009, Mr. Ji was taken to the Zhangjiakou City Detention Centre for 10 days. There, guards instigated criminal detainees to abuse him. The detainees punched and kicked him, forced him to take cold showers, deprived him of sleep and meals, and forced him to do hard labour for 10 hours a day despite his poor health. -
Mr. Li Feng Tortured and Abused for Seven Years in Shijiazhuang City No. 4 Prison
2010-09-13Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Feng was detained in 2002 for his involvement in broadcasting a TV programme about Falun Gong. Officials then sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment. He was incarcerated at the Shijiazhuang City No. 4 Prison in 2003. Torture in the prison damaged his health. Mr. Li developed heart disease and high blood pressure in late 2005. His family requested his release for treatment but their request was denied. The reason: Li Feng had not yet been "reformed" [forcibly renounced Falun Gong]. -
Police in Donggang City, Liaoning Province Broke into the House of Ms. Zhang Wei Using a Fire Engine Ladder
2010-09-13Recently, police officers in Donggang City climbed up the aerial ladder of a fire engine to break into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Wei in an attempt to arrest her. While Ms. Zhang's family was arguing with these police officers, she was able to escape. More than 100 people witnessed this entire process. -
Female Falun Gong Practitioner Persecuted by Communist Officials in Zhucheng City, Shandong Province
2010-09-13Cao Jinhui was a Zhucheng Domestic Security Division section chief. After the persecution began, he beat numerous practitioners, causing injuries to countless people and resulting in four deaths. Cao Jinhui had a private jail set up on the third floor of the Domestic Security Division Hotel. With all the windows tightly covered with curtains, the room was equipped with a metal chair, electric batons, and a rubber club. While drunk, Cao hit my thighs and kept asking if I'd still practise Falun Gong. He didn't stop until he was exhausted. I ended up with purple bruises. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured and Murdered in Panjin Prison, Liaoning Province
2010-09-12Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Lizhong was tortured at Panjin Prison for more than one year. On October 20th, 1999, when his family members visited him, he looked emaciated. He was shivering throughout the visit and too weak to hold a conversation. That is when his family realised why earlier family visits were forbidden. Guard Wang Jianjun tried to hide the fact that he tortured Mr. Lu. The torture methods included electric shocks, handcuffing, hanging up and brutal beatings. On October 25th, 2009, five days after the family visit, prison authorities notified his family that Mr. Huang had died. -
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Authorities Pay 100,000 Yuan in Exchange for Silence in Ms. Yan Pingjun's Death
2010-09-12Ms. Yan Pingjun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, died around August 10th, 2010, just one week after she was arrested at her home. Chinese Communist Party authorities paid her family 100,000 yuan in exchange for their silence regarding her death, and cremated her body on August 22nd. It was carried out in such a hurry that the cremation process was done without the presence of her husband. -
No. 2 Women's Prison in Yunnan Province Denies Family Visits for Dai Qiongxian
2010-09-12Falun Gong practitioner Dai Qiongxian is now being detained in the No. 2 Women's Prison in Yunnan Province. Ms. Dai is steadfast in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, but she is strictly controlled in the prison, where she is forced to sit on a small stool for over sixteen hours a day. She has not been allowed to write letters to her family, nor has she been allowed any visits with them. Ms. Dai's health has deteriorated greatly from being tortured in prison. She is now as thin as a rake, and her eyesight is almost gone. She is extremely weak. -
Practitioners from Fuping County Arrested and Their Homes Ransacked
2010-09-12Officers from the Public Security Bureau in Baoding City, Fuping County Domestic Security Division, and police stations from neighbouring counties broke into several practitioners' homes in Fuping County, ransacked and arrested them on August 12th. Ms. Zhang Lianrong and her daughter were both arrested, but her daughter was later released. When officers broke into Ms. Liu Gairong's home, without showing any ID, they tried to arrest her. Ms. Liu's daughter was shouting loudly, trying to protect her mother, so the officers arrested both of them. Her daughter was also later released. Ms. Liu fainted and had to be taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. -
Ms. Dong Shuyan from Mudanjiang Brutally Persecuted and Arrested Multiple Times
2010-09-11Several police went to Ms. Dong Shuyan's home, where they arrested her and searched her home on August 20th, 2010. Previously, Ms. Dong was sent to the Second Detention Centre in Mudanjiang in December 2002. Every day she was tortured so that police could force a confession from her. Liu Jinqun, the director of the detention centre, and other policemen were known for torturing female Falun Gong practitioners and sexually molesting them. When they heard that Ms. Dong was continuing her hunger strike at the Second Detention Centre, they instigated inmates to drag her out of her cell and put handcuffs and shackles on her. They put extra salt in a bowl of milk and force-fed her, causing her to feel like her stomach was burning. -
Ms. Yang Yufan and Others Tortured at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2010-09-11Guards in the No. 3 Division of Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, recently tortured Ms. Yang Yufan and other Falun Gong practitioners, only because they refused to give up their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Guards suspended Ms. Yang by her handcuffed wrists. The hanging lasted for one and a half days, followed by brutal beatings for a long period of time. On July 12th, guards Zhang Huan, Wang Danfeng and others shocked Ms. Yang's breasts with electric batons, which caused damage to an old wound and was extremely painful. -
Ms. Wang Lixin and Ms. Li Xiurong in Jiamusi City Detained for the Past Two Months
2010-09-11On July 19th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Lixin and Ms. Li Xiurong were arrested by officers from the Changqing Police Station. They are still in the detention centre. On August 3rd, both Ms. Wang's and Ms. Li's families went to the Women's Federation for assistance. They said, "These poor children have no one to take care of them since their mothers have been arrested. Their mothers practise Falun Gong and conduct themselves according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They are good people and they are innocent." The lady at the Women's Federation helped them call the Suburban Police Department and asked if they could let the children see their mothers, but their request was denied. -
Ms. Yue Chunhua Tortured at Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-09-11Ms. Yue Chunhua was detained at the Chongqing Shabao Women's Forced Labour Camp from April to May 2009. Her left hand has become handicapped due to long-term torture by guards at the Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp. Guards then took her to hospital where she was forcibly given injections and infusions. Finally, after Ms. Yue insisted that she would not cooperate, they had to send her back to the forced labour camp. For the entire summer of 2009, Ms. Yue spent her time under the open sky forced to do military style training such as keeping a squatting position, or other military positions. She was sunburned and her complexion became very dark. -
Mr. Zeng Huaguo from Hunan Province Beaten to Death in Custody
2010-09-10Mr. Zeng Huaguo was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong on June 21st, 2010, when he asked a man to please not believe the slanderous propaganda spread by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and not to commit crimes against Falun Gong. That man was a plainclothes officer, and he arrested Mr. Zeng and took him to a detention centre. Mr. Zeng's son-in-law signed statements to renounce practising Falun Gong on Mr. Zeng's behalf, and he was released ten days later. On August 19th, Mr. Zeng went to the police station to request his Falun Gong books. Officers arrested him and, within six days, had cruelly beat him to death. On his back was a cut 13 stitches long. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Ding Zhenfang Detained in Prison in Liaoning Province, Reduced to a Skeletal State
2010-09-10Ms. Ding Zhenfang, a Falun Gong practitioner in her 60s from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was carried out of her prison cell on a stretcher on August 2nd, 2010, when her family members went to see her for the second time. She had lost a tremendous amount of weight as a result of cruel torture in prison. She is now skeleton-like, speaks haltingly, and is very feeble. Ms. Ding was sentenced to eight years in prison in July 2008 and has been incarcerated in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. Trying to force her to give up her faith, the prison authorities have used all kinds of ruthless methods to torture her. She is at death's door. -
Ms. Bao Siqin-Gaowa Disabled Due to Torture in Tumuji Forced Labour Camp
2010-09-10University student Ms. Bao Siqin-Gaowa, 34, went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999 and was expelled from university. Since then the police have never stopped monitoring and harassing her. During a ten-year period, she was sent to forced labour camps twice and a brainwashing centre and was detained. The torture that Ms. Bao was subjected to during her detention in Tumuji Forced Labour Camp from 2007 to 2010 resulted in her becoming paralysed. She still cannot walk as of this writing.
