  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Hubei and Jilin Provinces Died as a Result of the Persecution

    In March 2000, Mr. Dai Kewu was detained and sentenced to one year of forced labour; and again sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2002. He suffered from torture by police officers and prisoners at the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp. His whole body was swollen; he lost the capability of taking care of himself, and became critically ill. The police of the labour camp told his family to take him home, due to fear of having to take responsibility for his death. After Mr. Dai's return home, the police continued to harass him many times. His health continued to get worse, and Mr. Dai died on December 31st, 2006.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Severely Abused in the Women's Prison of Liaoning Province

    The most widely implemented mistreatments against Falun Gong practitioners in Liaoning Prison are sleep deprivation for a long period and starvation. The practitioners are provided with only one spoon of boiled rice every day, and they are not allowed to drink water. In winter they are forced to go barefoot with only a shirt on them. They are constantly shocked with electric batons and their arms are bound behind their back. Prison guards torture them with pricking finger nails with toothpicks, stepping on the feet and palms forcefully, punching the chest and ribs, dragging them by the hair and hitting their heads against the wall, not allowing them to go to the toilet (which led to intestinal diseases), hanging and suspending them in the air, and deep squatting with the head in the lap.
  • Practitioner Ms. Chen Shufen Persecuted in the Second Women's Prison in Luquan City, Hebei Province

    Ms. Chen Shufen, 47, and her husband were arrested and brutally tortured during an interrogation by police because they interrupted TV programming to broadcast Falun Gong information on the persecution on August, 2002. During interrogation Ms. Chen they beaten with wooden sticks to the point of deep bruising from hips to thighs. Ms. Chen was sentenced to nine years in prison. Ms. Chen is currently being detained in the Second Women's Prison in Luquan City, Hebei Province and is denied family visitation.
  • An Innocent Farmer Imprisoned for Nine Years

    In the 10 years of the persecution, Mr. Wang Xueshi has been imprisoned for nine years - two years in a forced labour camp and seven years in a prison. In Jixi Forced Labour Camp a guard hit Mr. Wang's right eye with an electric baton. He lost his vision in the right eye. Later, his wife couldn't bear the pressure and pain from the persecution, and divorced him. In 2002 police again detained Mr. Wang. They tied him to a chair and repeatedly hit his head with water bottles until he was bleeding; used twisted electric wires to whip the top of his feet until the flesh was torn; tightly sealed his mouth with tape; and put mustard oil into his nose and then covered his mouth and nose with a hand towel to suffocate him.
  • Teenage Boy Suffers Breakdown Due to the Repeated Persecution of his Mother

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Yan was persecuted repeatedly because of her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and was put in a forced labour camp twice. She has been jailed in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City for a year now. Her son, Cao Yang, has a mental disorder, and has not been able to take care of himself in the past year. After his mother was arrested he went into the street and yelled every day for the past year, "I don't have a home any more." He is emotionally disturbed, and has been taken to the Sixth People's Hospital in Changchun City.
  • Ms. Liu Junling Passed Away After Torture and Long-term Abuse by 610 Office Agents in Laixi, Shandong Province

    Ms. Liu Junling, 60, was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp for a year. Policemen forced Liu Junling to undergo brainwashing, forcing her to watch videos and read materials that defamed Falun Gong, and forcing her to write or sign statements denouncing Falun Gong. Liu Junling was also forced to do slave labour until 10 p.m. every day. Both her body and mind suffered tremendous stress, and she could not sleep at night. On April 27th, 2006, she was released from the camp. Her health deteriorated continuously, and she was diagnosed with lung cancer and rectum cancer. She passed away on July 20th, 2007.
  • Ms. Fei Jinrong Suffers Mental Collapse as a Result of Persecution by the Judicial and Public Security Division

    On March 10th, 2009, the Suibin County court sentenced practitioner Ms. Fei Jinrong to four years for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. While she was in the Suibin County Detention Centre, Ms. Dai was beaten until she vomited blood. Only when she was in critical condition was her family allowed to take her home. Due to unknown reasons, police suddenly transferred Ms. Fei to a detention centre. According to reports, Ms. Fei was forced to sit on a steel chair for many days without sleep at the No. 2 Detention Centre. She was verbally abused and beaten by the criminals in the same cell. It is not known what type of torture she was subjected to. In only a few months time, she suffered a mental collapse.
  • Mr. Pan Mingzhi and His Wife Unable to Attend His Father's Funeral Due to the Persecution

    There is a family in Zhongchang Village, Dalian City, of which the eldest son, Pan Mingzhi and his wife Yuan Yuchun, both love and respect their parents. Yet why were they absent at Mr. Pan Hongju's funeral while all his other sons and daughters were there paying their final tributes to him when he passed away? It turned out that the daughter-in-law, Ms. Yuan, has been arrested many times for telling people the facts about Falun Gong since the government began its persecution in 1999. Worse yet, when she was released from jail, the local police still kept harassing her and her family. Ms. Yuan and her immediate family were forced to stay away from their home, and not contact any of her other family members or relatives.
  • Letter from Six Lawyers Exposes Illegal Activities of Chief Justice and other Officials of the Hejiang County Court, Sichuan Province

    On May 19th, 2009, the Hejiang County Court in Luzhou City held a public trial of six Falun Gong practitioners. The court set up two obstacles denying the lawyers access to the trial. The lawyers demanded an investigation into the illegal abandonment of responsibilities by Chief Justice Wang Hong, Vice-Chief Yuan Hailiang, Executive Judge Tang Xianrong, and Presiding Judge Zhang Ke; and a confirmation that the May 19th, 2009 trial was illegal and invalid.
  • Qingyang District Procuratorate and Chengdu City Court Persecute Practitioners and Cause the Death of Ms. Huang Min

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Huang Min, former deputy director of the Small Business Bureau of Chengdu City, was found tortured to death on August 15th, 2007 while in custody. When the family saw her body, she only weighed about 55 pounds. Her facial expression showed a lot of pain, with her eyes barely opened, her head leaning to the right, her mouth wide open, and her upper teeth exposed. One of her bottom teeth was missing. An unknown pungent yellow coloured drug was found in her mouth, with some covering her teeth and some on her face. Her fingers were clenched tightly as if she was trying to grab something. Her arms had black and blue finger-tip-size marks. The police forced the family to cremate her body that same day.
  • Mr. Zhou Xiangyang Near Death--Jail Claims He Must Renounce His Belief to be Released for Medical Treatment

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Xiangyang has been on a hunger strike for over 300 days, since June 2008, to resist the persecution. Mr. Zhou was previously a strong and positive man, but due to being persecuted he is emaciated and his life is in danger. In February 2009, a guard disclosed that Mr. Zhou was force-fed five times per day and that he could die at any moment. Gangbei Prison claims that to be released on bail for medical treatment, he must sign papers renouncing his practice of Falun Gong.
  • Additional Information About Ms. Liu Liyun Tortured to Death at Liaoning Women's Prison in 2002

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Liyun was tortured to death at the Liaoning Women's Prison on July 23rd, 2002. When viewing the body, one could see that the head was swollen. The prison officials deceived her father into signing the death certificate and cremation authorization. They would not let her father see more than her head in a darkened room to conceal the torture. Before her death, some sources acknowledged that the police had locked Mrs. Liu Liyun into a solitary cell and ordered eight inmates to take turns torturing her. The prisoners took Ms. Liu to a corner of the cell, pushed her to the concrete floor, stretched her hands out horizontally, and pulled her legs apart. When she closed her eyes or lowered her head, she was brutally beaten.
  • The "Stretching Torture" Used on Practitioners at the Weining Forced Labour Camp in Benxi City, Liaoning Province

    The "stretching torture" or the "stretching bed" was implemented by placing a Falun Gong practitioner in the middle of two beds with the arms and legs handcuffed to the four outer corners of the beds. After a period of time, the two beds are forced apart and bricks are squeezed into the space between the beds. Every time a brick is squeezed in, extreme harm to the body results.
  • Police Arrest 60 Year-old Disabled Practitioner Ms. Zhen Zhixian from Qian'an City, Hebei Province

    On May 11th, 2009, police arrested 60-year-old practitioner Ms. Zhen Zhixian. In late 2008, the police had arrested Ms. Zhen. At the brainwashing centre, policeman Ha Fulong slapped Ms. Zhen on the face and tortured her in many other ways. The brutal treatment caused Ms. Zhen's health to deteriorate. Seven days later, Ms. Zhen appeared to be paralysed. The police feared being held responsible for their actions, and so told Ms. Zhen's family to hand over 10,000 yuan and pick her up. When the family came, they found Ms. Zhen paralysed. When she was arrested again this year, her health had not fully recovered.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners on Hunger Strike in Fushun City

    Since April 17th of this year, more than a dozen practitioners in Fushun City, Liaoning Province have been arrested. It is believed that they are being held at the Fushun City Detention Centre. Many of them have gone on a hunger strike to counter the persecution. Further details are unknown at this time as police have not allowed any information about them to be released and have denied family visits. Police officers covered the practitioners' entire heads with black cloth bags when they arrested them.
