  • Two Falun Gong Women in Their 60's Sentenced to Six Years in Prison at a Show Trial in Shanghai

    Ms. Bai Gendi and Ms. Yao Yuhua from Shanghai, both in their 60s, have been sentenced to prison for their belief in Falun Gong. The Xuhui District Court sentenced Ms. Bai to 6.5 years and Ms. Yao to 6 years on May 3rd, 2013. Their appeals were denied on June 18th. Since the Chinese communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Bai and Ms. Yao have been arrested many times for their faith. Ms. Bai has been arrested six times and detained for a total of 10 years and 2 months.
  • Father Killed by Police, Son Arrested for Seeking Justice

    Mr. Li Zhiqin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hebei Province, was arrested in 2007 by police. They beat him to death only three hours after his arrest. For years, his family appealed to various governmental departments in order to seek justice for Mr. Li. However, none of the agencies were willing to investigate the case. On July 5th, 2013, the family again appealed to the Hebei Provincial Higher Court, requesting compensation for Mr. Li's death. Three days later, on July 8th, his son and the wife and daughter of a witness were arrested by police.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Yang Naijian Tortured and Hung Up

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Naijian from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, disappeared after he was arrested by agents of the Chinese communist regime on May 2nd, 2013. A fellow detainee said that Mr. Yang was tortured and hung up for three days and nights in the detention centre and was now emaciated. Mr. Yang's family are very anxious about his safety.
  • Spanish Attorney Speaks at Falun Gong Rally, Advocates Stricter Laws on Organ Tourism

    On July 20th, Falun Gong practitioners and human right activists from 27 European countries held a rally in front of City Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, condemning the 14-year long persecution of Falun Gong in China. Mr. Carlos Iglesias, a lawyer from Spain, spoke at the rally about a Spanish law that prevents Spanish citizens from getting organ transplants in China.
  • Guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Continue to Torture Falun Gong Practitioners

    The windows in the fourth East Gate cell at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp are covered with paper and curtains, making it completely dark. Guard Zhang Lili uses this cell to torture practitioners. The cell is smaller than 270 square feet and there are torture devices including a stretching bed, all kinds of cloth belts, handcuffs, and high-volume speakers. The walls and floor are covered with drawings that slander Falun Gong. There are also two characters, saying “transform,” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] made out of neon lights which are about 28 inch in circumference.

    My name is Luo Hui and I am 45 years old. I was the host of CCTV's former Sanjiang Food Company of the Agriculture Bureau of Heilongjiang Province for 13 years. However, due to Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] jealousy, he launched a comprehensive persecution against Falun Gong in July 1999. I was laid off from my position at the TV station. To let people know the truth about the persecution, my husband and I went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested. Since then my husband and I have suffered repeated persecution at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
  • After Years in Prisons and Labour Camps, Ms. Mo Huiping Is Once Again Arrested

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Mo Huiping, 37, from Yinchuan City in Ningxia Autonomous Region was arrested in Wuzhong City. We have learned that Ms. Mo was targeted by the authorities for further persecution. This is the third time she has been severely persecuted. Ms. Luo Xinping was forced to pay two thousand yuan before she was released.
  • Trumped Up Charges and Fabricated Evidence--Baoding Police and Court System Conspire to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

    Recently the South District Court of Baoding City notified the family of Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Jinfeng, Ms. Wang Manhong and Mr. Song Guobin that the trial against them would begin within ten days. Before this, the Procuratorate of the South District had trumped up charges and fabricated evidence three times. The police said they were arrested because the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) 18th Congress would open soon, and they would be released when it is over.
  • Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp in 2012

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Lan was incarcerated in Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp and forced to stand for prolonged periods of time daily. After she got up in the morning, she and the inmates assigned to monitor her went to the so-called “counselling room,” where she would be forced to stand till 2 or 3 a.m. the next day. This torture continued for several months. Ms. Xu was given very little food, and her requests for more food were repeatedly rejected by the guards. Ms. Xu was only allowed to sleep just over two hours a day. She was also forced to watch videos that slander Falun Gong.
  • Mr. Hong Chang Repeatedly Tortured in Zhejiang Province No. 4 Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hong Chang from Hangzhou City started practising in April 1998, and has been repeatedly persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because he refused to renounce his faith. He was sent to Zhejiang Province No. 4 Prison, where he was tortured and nearly died. He recounts: "The guards employed many torture methods to abuse me, including lifting me up by my arms and running me around in circles before suddenly stopping, which caused me to dizzily fall over. They lifted me up by clamping my ears and swaying me back and forth, holding me on the ground and scribbling on my face with a marker and holding my heels from the back and forcing me to crawl on my hands, which also evoked their laughter."
  • Ms. Chen Haibin Suffers from Stroke; Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Refuses to Release Her

    Ms. Chen Haibin is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested in Xinghai Park by officers Ma Jun and Zhang from the Kunming Police Station on June 6th, 2012. Several weeks later, on June 25th, she was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp to serve an 18-month term. Ms. Chen now appears to have suffered a stroke. When her husband and son saw her on June 18th, 2013, she had a black eye, walked slowly and complained of leg pain, which she did not have before.
  • Elderly Mr. Wang Hongbo Beaten during Arrest

    Mr. Wang Hongbo, a Falun Gong practitioner from Yueyang City, is in his 70s. He was arrested on July 6th, 2013, and beaten by local officials and police. They also ransacked his home. The police took away Mr. Wang's house keys, slapped him and attempted to cover his mouth. Mr. Wang's right leg was injured and bleeding. They detained Mr. Wang at the local police station and interrogated him until 1 p.m. the following day. He did not answer any of their questions.
  • Ms. Li Huijuan Suffers Mental Collapse from Torture at Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp

    In the past 14 years, the Chinese government has used various torture methods in an attempt to make Falun Gong practitioners give up their belief. One of the methods has been to add toxic chemicals to their food, causing many practitioners to become physically and mentally disabled, and some even died from the poisoning. Once a lively person, Ms. Li Huijuan is one of the victims. She became mentally disabled while she was imprisoned at the Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp three years ago, and she has not yet recovered.
  • The Torture I Endured in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    I was arrested and subjected to forced labour three times from 2000 to 2009. Each time I was detained in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. In 2000, I was sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp for the first time. In order to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners, the most vicious methods of torture were used. For newcomers, the guards first play propaganda videos full of lies that slandered Falun Gong. If that didn't work, the torture started: beatings, verbal abuse, electric shock, solitary confinement, handcuffing, and term extensions--all to make them give up their belief.
  • Ms. Liang Xiaoguang Dies in Siping Detention Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Xiaoguang was arrested and sentenced to prison six years ago. On November 23rd, 2012, her family suddenly received a notification from Siping Detention Centre in Liaoning Province, claiming that she had died from “lung cancer” and her body had already been taken to the crematory. Ms. Liang had been sentenced to forced labour twice before. The first time, she was taken to Heizuizi Labour Camp in 2000 until 2002. The second time, she was arrested while distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in 2006, and was later taken to the same labour camp until 2008.
