  • Ms. Zhang Xinyi from Changsha City on Hunger Strike to Protest Third Arrest

    On July 11th, 2009, the police arrested Ms. Zhang Xinyi and interrogated her. Currently, she is detained in a detention centre. Ms. Zhang has been on hunger strike for three days to protest the persecution. This is her third arrest for practising Falun Gong. In 2002, when Ms. Zhang and her husband were teaching in Cambodia the police arrested them, despite the fact that they showed them their certificates as UN protected refugees and they were deported back to China. Right after they arrived in China, they were detained at a detention centre.
  • The Persecution of Liu Chengjun

    On March 5th, 2002, a programme about the true story of Falun Gong was successfully broadcast over the cable television network in Changchun and Songyuan. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)became enraged at this and began to arrest and persecute Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale. Liu Chengjun was one of those practitioners arrested. The police tortured him by putting him on a "tiger bench". They damaged his peritoneum, resulting in his suffering from a strangulated hernia. They tied him on a torture bed for more than fifty days. In October 2002, Liu Chengjun was sentenced to nineteen years in jail. He was later tortured to death.

    Ms. Xiaoping Xin, a practitioner from Hunan Province, is imprisoned in the detention centre in Linli. Her current condition is not very optimistic: she is pale, losing weight, has cold hands and feet despite a hot summer, is so skinny that bones are visible, and has swollen ankles and a dark instep. On April 15th members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) sentenced her to three years in prison. Her family is now preparing to appeal and request her release with a verdict of not guilty.
  • My Personal Experience with a Media Farce

    The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. I went to the Beijing to appeal for justice and was arrested. I had to read lie-filled literature. Guards kept me from sleeping. The constant threats and brainwashing confused me, and I wrote a guarantee statement to give up Falun Gong. An official told me to talk to the media to restore my work unit's reputation. Thinking that I could explain the facts about Falun Gong to the journalists, I agreed. I told them truthfully that I became a good person because I practise Falun Gong. An article published in Modern Scientific Living lied and said how the regime had "reformed" me. It also said that I "attacked" Falun Gong.
  • Additional Information on the Detention of Wang Yonghang, a Lawyer in Dalian Who Defended Falun Gong Practitioners

    Lawyer Wang Yonghang in Dalian City defended Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. As a result, police broke into his home on July 4th, 2009 and arrested him and his wife. His wife and elderly mother were also physically assaulted. Wang Yonghang and his wife were both taken to a detention centre. Their family members went to the police station to ask for the couple's release, but the police refused to reveal where they were. In addition, wherever the family went, policemen in plain clothes would beat them.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Lai Zuhua Recounts the Persecution She Experienced in Chengdu City

    My name is Lai Zuhua and I am 64 years old. I live in Chengdu City. On May 14th, 2004, I took leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and went to Yulong Street to distribute them. When I had just handed out two flyers, I was captured by police and taken to the nearby Xiyuhe Police Station. From 10:00 p.m. on May 14th to 6:00 a.m. on May 16th, the police did not allow me to go to sleep. They shone three 200-watt electric light bulbs on me and put me in handcuffs. These policemen kept interrogating me about the source of my materials. Later I was taken to a detention centre.
  • Elderly Woman Arrested on Her Way to the Grocery Store

    Ms. Shi Lanfang, in her 70s, was arrested and taken to a brainwashing centre on on April 23rd, where she was held for 42 days. This is Ms. Shi's own account of what happened: "I was about to go grocery shopping when I saw five or six police officers in front of my house. One female officer called out to me and said that she wanted me to accompany her to the community centre to 'have a talk.' I told her that I did not have time. At that point, the police officers dragged me into the car and took me to a place called the 'Law and Order Centre' in Xinjin to try to brainwash me."
  • Police Arrest Ms. Ning Li to Make Way for Communist Leader's Arrival in Liaoning Province

    On July 6th, 2009, police broke into practitioner Ms. Ning Li's home in Xiongyue Town. They then took her to the Bayuquan Domestic Security Division. Afterwards, someone revealed that Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping was scheduled to visit the region to do inspections on the morning of July 7th, 2009. Everywhere he went, the security was heightened. Practitioners living near the streets where Xi went by were arrested. Guotun Village, Xiongyue Town, where Ms. Ning lived, was one of the inspection sites.
  • For the Past Decade, the Residential Committees in China Have Actively Carried Out the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Persecution Policies at the Grassroots Level

    Practitioner Ms. Wu Jingqing was arrested at the end of October 2002. To implicate her, police planted some Falun Gong CDs in her home while ransacking it. Gongdatang Community Party Secretary Liu Kegui of Guangming Street Residential Committee signed the search list. Ms. Wu was detained in a hotel and a detention centre for about seven months. Due to torture, she passed blood in her stool and urine. The detention centre guard said openly, "If you are dying, we will send you to the hospital, but we will have nothing to do with your death--even if you die five minutes after you are dropped off." Extremely thin, Ms. Wu Jingqing left the detention centre in May 2003, with dignity. It took her several months to recover through studying the Falun Gong teachings and practising the exercises.
  • Mr. Fu Ziming Died as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Fu Ziming was a 34-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Jianli County, Hubei Province. While travelling in the scenic district of Wuyi Mountain, Fujian Province on April 17th, 2009, he posted the message, "Falun Gong is good" in several places. Wuyi Mountain Police Department/Scenic District Police Station agents arrested him. Jianli County 610 Office deputy director Jiang Changhong arrived on April 20th, 2009 to take Fu Ziming back to Hubei Province on a train. Mr. Fu died before his return to Jianli County.
  • Woman in Her 60s Cruelly Tortured in a Forced Labour Camp in Mudanjiang City Because She Refused to Give Up Her Belief

    Ms. Liu Guixiang, 63, would not give up the practice of Falun Gong and went to Beijing to seek justice for Falun Gong. As a result, she was arrested and sentenced to forced labour many times by Chinese Communist Party officials. She suffered indescribable tortures. The guards in the forced labour camp force-fed her, and ruthlessly twisted the tube in her oesophagus and stomach with malicious intent. Her retirement pension was also withdrawn for two years.

    Tomorrow is Xiaoshun's seventh birthday. His mum has been in Dashan Detention Centre in Qingdao City for over a year now. For fear that Xiaoshun might get upset or feel sad without his Mother there, his dad intentionally did not celebrate his sixth birthday. One day last June, Xiaoshun did not see his mum when he got home from school and found that the house was a mess. Later, his dad told him that his mum had been arrested. At night, he always dreamed of mum, and awoke in tears. But he never told dad about it because he did not want him to feel sad.
  • The Torture I Suffered in Harbin Women's Prison

    My name is Ms. Gao Guizhen. I'm a Falun Gong practitioner from Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. In 2003, I was sentenced to a four-year prison term for being firm in my belief in Falun Gong. I was imprisoned on September 16th in Harbin Women's Prison. Practitioners were inhumanly tortured in the prison. The prison authorities tortured practitioners with the most cruel methods, methods not even used on condemned criminals. We were hung up with our hands cuffed behind our back and with both feet off the ground from the top of a bunk-bed. Once a practitioner lost consciousness from the excruciating pain, the guards poured unknown drugs down her throat. She was hung up again the minute she was revived.
  • A Thirteen-year-old Girl's Wish

    Ma Fan, a thirteen-year-old girl from Liaoning Province, has a simple wish: to be united with her mother. However, in July 2009, this wish was once again denied. On the afternoon of July 13th, 2009, Ma Fan's mother, Ms. Zhang Lirong, was arrested on the charge of "spreading propaganda about Falun Gong" by officers from the Tiexi Police Department's Gongren Village Police Station in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Ma Fan has a kind and loving mother. However she has spent very little time with her. Because her mother believes in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and strives to be a good person, she has been arrested three times and spent five years in a labour camp.
  • Don't Be Scared and Don't Compromise, Ms. Xu

    Ms. Xu Hui, 47, is a geography teacher at the Dalinzi Town High School. Because of her belief in Falun Gong and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, every year her school threatened her to renounce Falun Gong. She was forced to live at the school and her salary was withheld, in an effort to pressure her into renouncing her belief. In 2006, her school forced her to work as a guard instead of as a teacher. Ms. Xu was arrested on April 24th, 2008. She was then sent to the Fuyu County Detention Centre and sentenced to eighteen months of forced labour because she refused to renounce her belief.
