• Female College Student in Guangdong Province Arrested By 610 Office After Three Times in Forced Labour Camp

  Falun Gong practitioner Chen Li was a fourth year student in the Fine Arts School of Shantou University, Guangdong Province. She has been sent to a forced labour camp three times since November 1999, and she suffered extremely cruel treatment because she persisted in practising Falun Gong, such as being shocked with electric batons and confined with handcuffs and shackles. Recently, agents from the Zhuhai City 610 Office arrested her again and sent her to the brainwashing centre in Zhanjiang City.

• Four Falun Dafa Practitioners from Yucheng County, Henan Province Unjustly Arrested

  Four practitioners from Henan Province, were arrested by police between August 16th and 18th. They are now being detained at Yucheng County Detention Centre and elsewhere. The police confiscated Falun Dafa books, and leaflets exposing the persecution from over 50 years old practitioner Ms. Wang Jingping's house and arrested her. She is suffering from the police’s brutal persecution. The police not only refused to release Ms. Wang, but also threatened that they would send her to the forced labour camp.

• Eighteen-Year-Old Girl Arrested for Appealing for Her Father

  Zhu Xiuyun, an 18-year-old girl sought justice for her father, Mr. Zhu Yanghe, who was arrested and sent to a labour camp. She took a petition signed by more than 200 people to the County Court on August 19th, 2006. At the direction of Li Shilin of the 610 Office, court officials and dozens of police officers from the central police station arrested Ms. Zhu Xiuyun and they sent her to the detention centre, although they waited three days before they notified the family.

• Twenty-Year-Old Son of Zhu Yan Arrested for Appealing for His Mother; His Whereabouts Unknown

  At 9:30 a.m. on the morning of August 8th, 2006, Mr. Cao Yang held a banner in front of the Jilin City Police Station to appeal for the release of his mother, Ms. Zhu Yan, who was sentenced to one and a half years in a labour camp and sent to Heizuizi Labour Camp in Changchun City. Several police officers came over, took down the banner and forced Mr. Cao to go to the police station. At that time, many people shouted to Mr. Cao, "Don't go in with them. You will suffer. They will beat you." his whereabouts remain unknown.

• Persecution of Zhang Zenggui and His Family in Shandong Province

  Early this year, Mr. Zhang Zenggui and his wife, Ms. Liu Yuxiang were persecuted again just because they believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." The police extorted more than 10,000 yuan from their home and confiscated items worth 400,000 yuan. In detention, their son's teeth were knocked out by policemen. To this day they are still homeless. Their sons Zhang Zunyu and Zhang Zunliang were sentenced to seven and eight years respectively.

• Mr. Jiang Xiquan, 56, Arrested Late at Night, Sent to Forced Labour Camp for Two Years

  At around 10:00 p.m. on May 5th, Mr. Jiang Xiquan had just gone to bed. Suddenly he heard knocking, and he got up and opened the door. Six strong men charged through the door, and rummaged all through the room. They confiscated a Falun Dafa book, as well as some leaflets exposing the persecution. They then arrested Mr. Jiang Xiquan without giving a reason. Mr. Jiang is 56 years old. His wife witnessed their home being ransacked and her husband's arrest and became very frightened. Mr. Jiang's wife had to borrow money to give about 4,500 yuan, then 3,100 yuan and then 500 yuan to officials to release her husband. Although Jiang Xiquan was released he was later arrested again and sent to a forced labour camp.

• Practitioner Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison and his Wife Recently Arrested

  In 2001, Guo Peijun and his wife were arrested. Guo Peijun and some other Falun Dafa practitioners refused to cooperate with the commands of the authorities, so police officers took turns beating them, and grabbing benches and wooden clubs to hit the head and face of Guo Peijun. Immediately, he started bleeding, and his skin was torn, with the flesh opened up. Later, while he was washing his clothes, after four rinses, the water was still red from the blood, and the clothes could not be cleaned any more. In 2005, Guo Peijun was sentenced to seven years in prison and is currently detained in Tiebei Prison. His wife Yu Jing was arrested again on July 12th.

• Beijing Falun Dafa Practitioner Bu Dongwei Sentenced to Two and One Half Years of Forced Labour Based on Fabricated Evidence

  On the evening of May 19th, 2006, Haidian Public Security Branch Bureau arrested Mr. Bu Dongwei, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Beijing. On August 15th, Mr. Bu's family received a "Statement of Reeducation through Labour" from the Legal System of the Haidian Public Security Branch Bureau, Beijing Public Security Bureau. The statement claims Bu Dongwei had hidden 80 copies of so-called Falun Gong "propaganda material" and thus was sentenced to two and one half years of forced labour. His family stated that they had only had several copies of Falun Gong books and didn't have any other materials.

• Details of the Unjust Arrests of More Than 20 Dafa Practitioners from Liaoning Province

  On July 22nd, 2006, more than 20 Dafa practitioners were arrested and imprisoned in the Panjin Jail and Detention Centre. The perpetrators did not show any credentials when they arrested them and confiscated these Dafa practitioners' property. In addition, some of the practitioners' family members were beaten and even arrested. Mr. Zou Liming's daughter was beaten and many places on her body were black and blue; Mr. Zhang Yawei's wife was beaten and his brother-in-law was arrested. At noon on July 22nd, the police held a banquet at Shaling Town to celebrate their arrest of so many practitioners.

• Sixty-Year-Old Female Practitioner's Home Ransacked and Sent to Forced Labour Camp

  Ms. Wang Wenshu, 62, was jailed, beaten, fined and verbally abused after she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 1999. She was forced to move bricks and other harsh labour, and coerced to give up Falun Gong. On December 11th, 2000, a few policemen arrested Wang by barging into her home. Wang's face was whipped repeatedly with a leather belt. The police ransacked her home more than four times during Wang's detainment and over 4500 yuan worth of checks and over 500 yuan in cash were stolen.

• Police from Sichuan Province Arrest Eighteen Falun Dafa Practitioners, Subject Several to Brutal Torture

  Ms. Yang Shixuan is 40 years old. On March 20th, 2006, several police officers went to her shop. They searched her shop thoroughly and did not find anything they wanted. But they still arrested Yang Shixuan and took her to their headquarters to persecute her. Several police officers beat and kicked her simultaneously. They trampled on her bare feet with their leather shoes, kicked her legs, pulled her hair and struck her ears. Ms. Yang was bruised all over. Later that evening, several police officers lifted her up and then let her fall down to the ground. At the same time, they held their knees up against her back. Her vertebrae were injured badly and she fainted from pain. But the police still did not let Ms. Yang go.

• Officers in Huludao City Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners

  Five police officers noticed practitioners Mr. Yang Jiangwei and Mr. Pei Zhihua speaking to people about the facts of Falun Dafa in Gaotai Township on the evening of August 6th, 2006. The officers chased the practitioners in their police car until the two fell into a roadside ditch. The fall severely injured practitioner Mr. Pei Zhihua. He could not move his legs and had a shattered jaw. The police sent Mr. Pei to a hospital, notified his family, and left. Mr. Pei’s family is poor, and it will be hard for them to pay the medical expenses.

  In March 2006, the 610 Office started another round of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. Police arrested practitioners, sent them to forced labour camps, and extorted money from them. According to an inside source: "The director of the police department assigned quotas to each subordinate section and police station. We dared not touch the real criminals, so we decided on Falun Gong practitioners to make up the numbers. It was easy to do and profitable, since we could hold them until they forked over the money. When the police department ran over budget, they would arrest 30-40 Falun Gong practitioners and get 200-300 thousand yuan."

• Ganjingzi District Court in Dalian City, Liaoning Province Plans Show-Trial for Mr. Xue Xinkai and His Mother

  According to an accurate source, Ganjingzi District Court of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, recently made plans to bring Dafa practitioners Mr. Xue Xinkai and his mother Sun Shuyun to trial at 9:00 a.m. on July 18th, 2006. This source disclosed that all arrested Falun Gong practitioners are given so-called "court hearings," but it is well known that these hearings are only superficial. The prison terms given to Falun Gong practitioners have been already decided, but simply not yet announced at the time of the hearing, so in reality the judge merely plays out the procedure. So long as a hearing is held, the judge's duty is completed.

• Mr. Wang Xiaodong Was Unjustly Tried, His Mother Followed and Harassed

  It has been more than four months since Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Xiaodong from Huadian City, Jilin Province was arrested at home while carrying water to his house. Because he would not confess to the police, they tortured him using methods that included force-feeding with petrol and a machine used to shake his head. The 610 Office planted fabricated evidence to take Mr. Wang Xiaodong to court, but the Huadian City Procuratorate rejected their requests three times for a lack of sufficient evidence. The 610 Office continued to collect so-called "criminal evidence" and after several delays the Procuratorate held a closed trial for Mr. Wang Xiaodong on July 6th.
