Sweden: Famous Swedish Diplomat Encourages Practitioners to “Keep Up the Good Work!”
2005-04-17A group of Falun Gong practitioners attended a lecture held by Jan Eliasson in Gothenburg. Jan Eliasson is the former Swedish Ambassador in Washington and later this year he will take over as president of the United Nations General Council. In the past, he worked as a UN Ambassador, as well as a Cabinet Secretary at the Swedish Foreign Ministry. -
"Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group" Submits Cases of Missing Falun Gong Practitioners to United Nations in Geneva
2005-04-17The Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group submitted a case report on the abduction of Huang Xiong to Mr. Stephen Toope, Chairman of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances during the annual meeting of the U.N.H.R.C. in Geneva. He was surprised to know that Mr. Huang was abducted more than a year ago and said he would take action right away. -
German Practitioners Write to the Premier Calling for the Rescue of Jiang Renzheng and his Family
2005-04-16The German Falun Gong Information Centre disclosed that practitioners are now actively informing the German authorities, politicians, media and human rights organisation about the situation of Jiang’s family. They are appealing to the German Government to rescue the family and they want to help the public understand the situation under the Communist Party’s rule. -
Falun Gong Practitioners were invited to the European Parliament on International Women’s Day
2005-04-03On March 7th 2005, Xiong Wei and Chen Yin, Falun Gong practitioners from Germany and France who personally experienced persecution in China’s labour camps, were invited to visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg. They met with German MP Mr Gahler, who offered his heartfelt support, and they spoke in a press conference in the EU Council Chamber. -
Switzerland: Davos Residents and Officials from the World Economic Forum Support Human Right for China's Persecuted Dafa Practitioners
2005-02-15At the end of January 2005, the annual World Economic Forum was held in the famous Swiss ski-resort, Davos. Many countries sent their top officials to attend. During the last two days of the meeting (29th and 30th) Dafa practitioners in Switzerland organised anti-torture exhibitions and activities to let people know about Falun Gong. -
Germany: Informing People about the Persecution of Falun Gong at the Annual Meeting of the Baltic Development Forum at Hamburg University
2004-10-16For the first time since the citizens and senate of Hamburg joined the Baltic Development Forum in 2003, the city hosted its annual meeting from Sunday September the 2nd to Tuesday September the 4th 2004. The practitioners stayed at the main entrance of the university until the end of the summit. They talked to students, lecturers, university staff and people from economic circles about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Everybody was very receptive and many people were glad to get more information. -
United Kingdom: Practitioners held Anti-Torture Exhibition at All Three Major Political Party Conferences
2004-10-14There have been many great offers of support and help from delegates of all three parties and in total about 1400 delegates signed a petition calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong and for the human rights abuser and instigator of the persecution Jiang Zemin to be brought to justice. Delegates were appalled by the torture that Falun Gong practitioners have been subjected to and were shocked that some of the practitioners at the event suffered personally in the persecution. They showed great support to a practitioner who is trying to rescue his sister from a forced labour camp in China. -
Italy: Government Officials in Sardinia Show Concern for the Persecution of Falun Gong
2004-10-13From August the 23rd to September the 13th, a Swiss Falun Gong practitioner went to Olbia city on the island of Sardinia in southern Italy. Every morning he practised Falun Gong exercises in a park and set up a series of display boards so that passers-by were able to read about Falun Gong and the persecution that practitioners in China are suffering. -
Participants in International Human Rights Course in France Include Persecution of Falun Gong in List of Urgent Concerns
2004-08-17To commemorate the five-year mark since the persecution of Falun Gong began in China, on July the 22nd 2004, a member of Amnesty International and I organized a panel discussion. At the event, I explained about Falun Gong and the lawsuits filed in different countries against Jiang Zemin and others responsible for the persecution, while the representative of Amnesty International spoke about the human rights violations committed against practitioners in China. At the end, we showed the award-winning film, False Fire. -
Belgium: Falun Gong Practitioners Invited to Participate in an International Conference on Human Rights and Freedom of Belief in Brussels
2004-08-15An international conference on human rights and freedom of belief was held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, from August the 5th to the 7th. Councillors and representatives of some non-governmental organisations from North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa participated in the Conference. -
Belgium: Falun Gong Spokesperson's Speech at an Interparliamentary Conference on Human Rights and Religious Freedom
2004-08-13"The world has already spoken out against China’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Members of democratic society have condemned China’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong. The U.S. Congress and the European Parliament, for example, have specifically passed resolutions calling on China to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and supporting the human rights of Falun Gong." -
United Kingdom: Falun Gong Seminar Held in the Houses of Parliament
2004-07-06On the 30th of June 2004, a seminar about the persecution of Falun Gong was held in the Houses of Parliament in London and was attended by Lords, Members of Parliament and Falun Gong practitioners. Those who attended were able to gain a better understanding of the persecution of Falun Gong and the situation in China. The MP who chaired the seminar opened by saying, “With the opening of industry and links with China, comes the need to pay attention to human rights.” -
A Seminar on Human Rights in China was Held in the Norwegian Parliament
2004-06-01The Norwegian Parliament was the venue for a seminar on the human rights situation in China. It was hosted by Parliament members and co-arranged by the Norwegian Falun Dafa Association. Many parliament members and representatives from human rights organisations and persecuted groups attended the seminar. -
Northern Europe: The 'Chinese Voices on Human Rights in China' Symposium Held in the Danish Parliament Building
2004-05-21On May the 10th, a forum entitled 'Chinese Voices on Human Rights in China' was jointly held by the Danish branch of the International Pen Pal Association and the Danish Falun Gong Association in the Danish parliament building. The speakers were part of the North European Human Rights Speech Tour. -
Czech Republic: Zhang Cuiying holds an Exhibition in the Czech Parliament and visits the Office of the Czech President
2004-05-02In February 2004, an exhibition of the paintings of Australian Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Cuiying was held for five days on all three floors of the Atrium of the Czech Parliament in the Waldstein Palace. Many MPs, VIPs, parliamentary officials, members of the public and a reporter attended the opening of Zhang Cuiying’s exhibition.
