The guards in Ward VI in the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province forced practitioners to perform slave labour in order to make huge profits. Even practitioners who were handicapped from the persecution could not escape. Practitioners were forced to work over ten hours a day, much more than the eight hours stated in the Regulations of Management and Discipline.
Guards and inmates in Ward VI abused practitioner Ms. Wang Yajun
Ms. Wang Yajun was in perfect health when she arrived at the forced labour camp. As a result of persecution, she was made unable to properly walk and her vision was blurred. Despite this, the guard still forced her to work every day, and Li Cui, the inmate in charge, yelled at her, blaming her for not doing enough work and wasting food.
One day in 2008, Ms. Wang was having a meal in the cafeteria. She ate slowly because her teeth were loose from the beatings she had endured. Li Cui grabbed her bowl and tossed away the food in it, and scolded her for eating slowly and wasting people's time. Captain Zhu and a few other guards were there, but none of them said anything.
At the workshop, a practitioner questioned Li why she did what she had done. Li admitted that it was the captain and guard who asked her to do it. Subsequently, Ms. Wang began a hunger strike.
In June, 2008, Ms. Wang's health worsened from the persecution and she could not do the labour anymore. A drug-addicted inmate forced her to stand against the wall for three days, making it difficult for her to walk. Before this, Li had hit her many times. Sometimes she called Ms. Wang upstairs and beat her.
Practitioner Ms. Zhao Shujie was disabled from torture by Ward VII guards. Ms. Zhao Shujie, who was about sixty years old, was tortured until she was blind in one eye, one of her legs became immobile, her stomach sank into her pelvic basin, she vomited immediately after eating, and she weighed only 66 pounds. In spite of her miserable condition, the guard still forced her to work, or else she would be punished by being forced to stand or clean the bathroom. They also shocked her with electric batons. The guard insisted that she needed to work despite being ill.
Another practitioner, close to seventy years old, was deaf and bedridden for many years. She was able to take care of herself after practising Falun Gong, but was arrested and imprisoned in the forced labour camp.
