Ms. Chen Zhenbo Near Death from Torture at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp

Ms. Chen Zhenbo has been jailed at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp for about a year. During this time, the guards did various things to this practitioner, like inciting inmates to beat her, inserting needles into her ears, and pouring ice water on her. Currently, Chen Zhenbo is on the verge of death as a result of the ongoing torture.

Several inmates at the camp were unrepentant, and were quite willing to participate in violence for its own sake. The guard incited these inmates, and other inmates who were drug addicts, to torture her. The names of these inmates are Sun Dandan, Jiang Lixia, Wang Wei, and Xu Jin. They beat her, cursed at her, and tortured her in various ways. These inmates broke Chen Zhenbo's collar bone by kicking her. They twisted her neck in such a way that the neck muscle was torn. They inserted five-inch needles into her ears, causing them to bleed. In the wintertime, they opened the door and window of her room, and poured ice water over her. After this happened several times, Chen Zhenbo's hands and feet were so frozen that they bled.

The guards forced Chen Zhenbo to sleep on a board 1.2 metres in length, such that her legs and feet were on the ground. She had only a small blanket for cover, even in the winter.

Ms. Chen Zhenbo, over 50 years old, lives in Pingdu County. Because she refused to give up her practice of Falun Gong and the teachings of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she is imprisoned in Wangcun Town Forced Labour Camp in Zhoucun District of Zibo City (Wangcun Forced Labour Camp, or the 2nd Forced Labour Camp of Shandong Province).

Since she was jailed, the guards have not even allowed her to take a bath. They only gave her some water in a small bottle to let her wash her hands. Sometimes, they did not even allow her to wash her hands. After her collar bone and neck muscle were injured, her body tilted to the right side, her head drooped, and she lost the ability to walk. However, they still kept torturing her by depriving her of sleep, beating and cursing at her all night.

The camp forced all the practitioners to perform laborious tasks from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sometimes, the work hours were extended to 1 or 2 a.m. The guards forced practitioners to sit on a tiger bench¹ with pinholes and bumps. Some practitioners' buttocks bled or the skin peeled.

Currently, Chen Zhenbo is on the verge of death from the continuous abuse.

1. "Tiger Bench": Prisoners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead without movement for long periods of time.
