Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun Xianming from Tonghua City, Jilin Province, was subjected to two forced labour terms. He was bedridden, and his weight dropped to merely 30 kg as a result of severe physical abuse and torture while he was incarcerated in the labour camp. After he was last released, he had lived away from home to avoid being harassed by local 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and died in another city.
Mr. Sun wrote a message exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on the overpass to the Second Department Store at around 4:00 a.m. on October 15th, 2001. The message read: Officer Yao from the Political Security Section of the Dongchang District Police Department arrested him. Officer Shen Shuheng and others from the Domestic Security Division ransacked his home. Mr. Sun was given a two-year forced labour term and taken to Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City.
During his unjust incarceration in the labour camp, Mr. Sun suffered brutality at the hands of guard Zhu Shenglin. Zhu dislocated Mr. Sun's left shoulder by turning his left arm 360 degrees and then broke it. Seeing Mr. Sun was unable to move, Zhu shook Mr. Sun's arm. It was so painful that Mr. Sun screamed and sweat profusely. Zhu didn't stop abusing him. He hung Mr. Sun from a bunk bed while shocking him with several electric batons simultaneously. Mr. Sun suffered severe burns to his chest. Not only did he not receive medical treatment for his broken arm and severe chest burns, he was forced to pick corn stalks in the cornfield all day, which caused severe swelling in his arms. His pain continued into the evening because he was forced to sit on a small, backless stool until midnight, and then again at 2:00 a.m.
The guards also incited the criminal inmates to pummel and kick him and force him to stand bent over at a 90-degree angle. During the winter months Mr. Sun was seated at the camp entrance exposed to the cold and wind while cold water was poured all over him. He later was carried back to the camp, where he continued to be exposed to the cold and wind that came through the open windows.
After nearly a year of this torture Mr. Sun developed a serious case of tuberculosis. He experienced severe weight loss, was emaciated, and had scabies all over his body. His health was near the point of collapse. He requested to see his family members one last time. Those in charge also believed that he would not live much longer, so they released him on bail. When Mr. Sun 's wife arrived at the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp to take him home, she did not recognize her own husband. After going home, Mr. Sun had x-rays taken at the city hospital. The results revealed that one arm had been broken with a 90-degree dislocation. He underwent surgery at the city hospital, but lost the use of one arm.
Mr. Sun was arrested again on April 2nd, 2008, as he posted pictures exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in a residential area. Officers from the Minzhu Police Station made the arrest and took him to the Fenjin Forced Labour Camp for another two-year term. His term expired in April 2010, but was extended by two weeks because he refused to write statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. The physical abuse and mistreatment Mr. Sun was subjected to during his latest labour camp incarceration resulted in his tuberculosis becoming advanced. He had a high fever, coughed, and was unable to eat.
Mr. Sun was bedridden, and, following his release, he weighed only 30 kg, but Tonghua City 610 Office agents still looked for and harassed him. He decided to leave home and move to another city to avoid the persecution. He died on April 30th, 2011.
