After Having Been Imprisoned for Five and a Half Years, Mr. Min Changchun, Wuhan University Graduate, Detained Again

Thirty-six-year-old Mr. Min Changchun graduated from Wuhan University with a degree in Hydraulic and Electrical Engineering. After having been subjected to four years of prison and one and a half years of forced labour, he was arrested again on September 27th, in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He is currently detained at the Wuhan City No. 2 Detention Centre.

Perpetrators from the Wuhan City Police Department Domestic Security Division (also known as Division One) arrested Mr. Min on July 16th, 2002. They first held him in the Wuhan City No. 2 Detention Centre and then transferred him to the Taojialing Detention Centre in the Hanyang District, where he was severely abused.

Under orders from the Wuhan City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Hanyang District Court sentenced Mr. Min to four years in prison in September 2002. He was sent to Qinduankou Prison.

While imprisoned, on January 22nd-23rd, 2005, guard Zheng Mao instigated criminal inmates Zhang Binhua, Xiong Junhua, and a few others to beat Mr. Min several times, seriously injuring him. As a result of the beatings, he was near death and had to undergo emergency surgery in the Hubei Province Prison General Hospital. He was unconscious for several days afterwards.

Mr. Min was arrested again on August 22nd, 2007, by Huang Haiji, Zhang Ning, Liu Hua, Kang Bao, and a few others from Division One. Mr. Min was held in the Jiangan District Detention Centre and sent to Hewan Forced Labour Camp on October 18th, 2007, for a term of one and a half years. He was released on February 21st, 2009.

Division One agents once again arrested Mr. Min on September 27th as he went out to run an errand. Mr. Min is currently in the Wuhan City No.2 Detention Centre.
