Ms. Hong Meishuang is a Falun Gong practitioner from Rizhao, Shandong Province. Since the Communist regime started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, she has been arrested, harassed and persecuted by the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) several times. Since May 1st, following the orders of the Donggang District 610 Office, officials from the neighbourhood Party committee have attempted many times to force her to go to the Zhangqiu Brainwashing Centre in Jinan. Ms. Hong firmly rejected them.
However, the Party officials did not give up. They went to Ms. Hong's family members and demanded that they sign the consent form on behalf of Ms. Hong to attend a “training session.” The so-called “training session” is actually illegal detention and forceful brainwashing. Facing constant harassment and intimidation from the Party officials, Ms. Hong's family were under a lot of pressure and very tired.
After unsuccessfully attempting to make her go to the brainwashing class for two months, Rizhao 610 Office officials started to become more aggressive. They staked out Ms. Hong's curtain shop on the afternoon of June 27th. The next morning, around 6 a.m., when she went to open the store, the officials arrested her on the street and took her to the brainwashing centre located in the Zhangqiu Forced Labour Camp in Jinan on the same day for further persecution.
As early as Spring 2010, officials from the Rizhao 610 Office have carried out a round of persecution against the local practitioners who haven't been sentenced to forced labour camps. For those practitioners who have a stable job, they went to their work place and specifically held a brainwashing session for them. They sent those who didn't have a formal job to the Zhangqiu Forced Labour Camp and subjected them to forced brainwashing. The evildoers from the Rizhao 610 Office also took advantage of the situation and extorted money from some practitioners' family members. Because they were intimidated by the Communist regime, some family members gave them money. They made the practitioners' family members go to the brainwashing session together with the practitioners, accompanying them throughout the whole process of persecution. The practitioners and their families have to bear all the costs.
According to previous Minghui reports, more than 80 practitioners from Shandong Province are currently detained at the Zhangqiu Forced Labour Camp. They suffer inhumane torture and persecution every day. It was also reported that the 610 Office from Shandong Province also held their “transformation session” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] here, practitioners from all over the province are sent here for further persecution.
