Four Members of U.S. Congress Write to the Governor of Sichuan Province Asking for the Immediate Release of Ms. Yuan Yuju and Mr. Liang Jinhui
2005-09-30On September 22th, 2005, four Members of U.S. Congress, Rush D. Holt, Frank Pallone Jr., Robert E. Andrews, and Mike Ferguson, jointly wrote a letter to the Governor of Sichuan Province, China, concerning the arrest of Ms. Yuan Yuju and Mr. Liang Jinhui for being Falun Gong practitioners. They asked for an immediate release of Ms. Yuan Yuju and Mr. Liang Jinhui. Copies of the letter were sent to U.S. Ambassadors Mr. Clark Randt, Jr. and Mr. Jeff Moon and Secretary of State Ms. Condoleezza Rice. -

2005-09-25Justice Michael Hartmann, presiding over a judicial review hearing requested by four Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioners who were barred from entering Hong Kong more than two years ago, issued a sharply worded rebuke to the government over its insistence that the applicants were barred on security grounds. "One can see, without a fertile imagination, how easy it can be for governments in bad faith to hide behind the word 'security.' That's why we have post-war concepts of human rights," Hartmann said.
