Ms. Wu Xiaohong Held in Qiqihar City Detention Centre
2010-03-02Ms. Wu Xiaohong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, is still being held in the First Detention Centre. She was arrested on January 26th, 2010, and has been tortured. As a result, she is very weak. However, the police have refused to take her for medical treatment. Ms Wu has endured abusive insults and vicious beatings by those in charge at the detention centre. -
Mr. Li Zhongwei Tortured in Fangqiang Forced Labour Camp in Jiangsu Province
2010-03-01Mr. Li Zhongwei and I were both held in Fangqiang Forced Labour Camp. Mr Li was taken there during the second half of 2006, and for a year and a half, he was tortured physically and mentally. The drug offenders' team leader, Jiang Guozhang, was very ruthless his treatment of Falun Gong practitioners. In his own words, "The guards do not need to encourage me to 'work.' I can think of all kinds of torture methods, and then I order team members to use them on the practitioners. I am relaxed and pleasant, so long as nobody is killed." He has persecuted many practitioners, including Liu Nai who was on the edge of death. As a result of this torture, Jiang Guozhang's prison term was reduced by eight months. -
Ms. Wang Junhua Sentenced to Six Years in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province
2010-03-01On June 29th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Junhua was distributing Falun Gong DVDs in Jiubao Village. Xue Tingbao, the head of security in Jiubao Village, came up to her and brutally beat her. Then, Rong Bin, deputy head of the Domestic Security Division in Wanquan County, and others arrested Ms. Wang. They took her key from her and ransacked her home. They took a CD burner, some letters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and other items. The next day, she was sent to Zhangjiakou City Detention Centre. -
Joint Persecution by the Labour Reeducation Bureau and the Women's Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City
2010-03-01On December 17th, 2009, the Labour Re-education Bureau and the Women's Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City conducted a so-called "ice-breaking operation" to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The goal was to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] Falun Gong practitioners by forcibly brainwashing them and by using sleep deprivation (going to bed at 2:30 a.m. and getting up at 6:00 a.m.), forbidding use of the toilet, forcing them to stand overnight, and forcing them to squat. They were also tortured and beaten, resulting in serious injury. The operation was scheduled to end on February 8th, 2010. -
The Recent Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Liaoning Province Women's Prison
2010-03-01Liaoning Province Women's Prison is located in Shenyang City. Falun Gong practitioners have been detained and persecuted there for a long time. The persecution is especially bad in Division 10. Practitioners there are pressured to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. In Division 10, detainees are often forced to work overtime at night, and they often have to work on Sundays. In late 2009, detainees often worked until past midnight or all night long, in addition to all day. Li Jing, a supervisor, had inmates beat and verbally abuse practitioner Ms. Qi Ximin and try to force her to write statements criticizing herself. -
Family of Practitioners Devastated by Persecution in Yanji City, Jilin Province
2010-02-28Officials and two male former Falun Gong practitioners arrived at 63-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yin Fengqin's home on January 29th, 2010 and tried to "reform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her and her husband Yang Fujin, who was paralysed as a result of persecution. Ms. Yin Fengqin did not co-operate with the officials' illegal act. They called for reinforcement from the Yanji City Domestic Security Division and tried to arrest Yin Fengqin. She slipped and fell from her fifth floor apartment balcony during the struggle, shattered the back of her skull and fractured her arms and legs, and her ribs protruded through the skin. She was dead on arrival at Yanbian Hospital. -
Mr. Xian Chunwei's Three Forced Labour Terms
2010-02-28Since July 20th, 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong began, the Qingzhou Police Department and Domestic Security Division agents frequently harassed Mr. Xian Chunwei's family, including breaking in and ransacking their home. They also arrested and tortured Mr. Xian numerous times. Mr. Xian was held at forced labour camps three times for a total of six years and is currently detained at the Mingshui Labour Camp in Zhangqiu, Jinan City. -
Older Woman Subjected to Persecution Due to Her Belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance
2010-02-28Because a 63-year-old woman practised Falun Gong and upheld Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was forced to leave home and move from place to place, and was also incarcerated in a forced labour camp. In her words: "I was detained and strip searched. They also didn't allow me to do the Falun Gong exercises or study the teachings. Two female guards watched my every move and then reported to the 610 Office agents. There was bits and pieces of glass in my meals, and the mattress I slept on was electrified between midnight to 5 a.m. In less than a week, I had kidney failure, pain in my liver and spleen, and my heartbeat had accelerated. I woke up suddenly every night, so I just got up and did the exercises. My mind was blank, and I lacked strength and vomited blood everyday." -
Chibi City Practitioner Mr. Zhong Shoubang's Family Tragedy
2010-02-28Mr. Zhong Shoubang was 28 years old in 2006. He had previously served three years in the Shizishan Forced Labour Camp. Lushuihu Scenic Area Police Department officer Huang Huaquan and others arrested him at home in early June 2006. He was held at Chibi City No. 1 Detention Centre for nearly four months before being sentenced to three years of forced labour and sent to the Shayang Forced Labour Camp. Long-term isolation from the outside and torture devastated Mr. Zhong physically and mentally. His eyesight was severely impaired, and his health was very poor. However, he managed to escape during washing time one morning. The labour camp authorities were in a panic and mobilised all their forces to seize him. They had him back by 3:00 p.m. that day. -
The Brutal Persecution of Practitioners in the Hebei Province No. 1 Forced Labour Camp
2010-02-27On January 1st, 2009, in Hebei Province's No. 1 Forced Labour Camp, practitioners resisted body searches and any harassment. Guard Wang Wenping took practitioner Ms. Wang Weiyue to an office, slapped her face more than ten times, and tied her to a torture chair for four days and nights. All the practitioners were brutally tortured. Ms. Bai Fengyu and Ms. Ren Shufen were tied to the torture chair for two days and one night. Ms. Zheng Baohua was tied to that chair for five days and nights. Other practitioners were made to stand in the extremely cold corridor from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. -
Officials from the Jilin City Department of Education and 610 Office Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-02-27Ms. Li Liwen was detained twice in 2000, because she firmly believed in Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was once sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp. On July 19th, 2006, Gao, the Huanxi Central School principal, obeyed orders from the 610 Office and Education Department in Chuanying District, and tried to drag Ms. Li from the school to a brainwashing centre. Ms. Li resisted and was thus locked in the principal's office. The only choice she had was to leave the school. The day before final exams, Ms. Li was unable to go to work and her students were not able to find their lead teacher. -
Mr. Niu Suiye and His Wife Ms. Wang Zhilan from Gangu County, Gansu Province Have Been Arrested, Their Whereabouts Unknown
2010-02-27On January 21st, 2010 Mr. Niu Suiye and Mrs. Wang Zhilan were arrested for practising Falun Gong. They are still being detained and their whereabouts are unknown. They broke into Mr. Niu's home, took away his computer, a printer and some Falun Gong books, then arrested Mr. Niu and Ms. Wang. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong Ms. Wang went to Beijing to appeal, but was arrested by police. When she was interrogated she was cuffed to a chair without being allowed to go to the toilet and was slapped in the face. The police also extorted money from her. -
Liu Deyu in Jingmen City, Hubei Province Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
2010-02-27Mr. Liu Deyu is a Falun Gong practitioner in Jingmen City, Hubei Province. On February 4th, 2010, his wife went to the relative department to ask about his situation, but was told that Dongbao District Court in Jingmen sentenced Mr. Liu to a four-year prison term on February 3rd, and he could only appeal until February 8th. Actually the court had made the decision long before but never informed her. It was a lie to claim that he had been sentenced the day before, leaving only four days to appeal. Previously, Mr. Liu was forced to undergo brainwashing and was detained many times. He suffered greatly from continuous abuse and persecution. -
The Outrages Taking Place at Shanxi Province Women's Prison
2010-02-26When Falun Gong practitioners are sent to the Shanxi Women's Prison, the guards there directly confine practitioners in a solitary confinement cell, where practitioners are forbidden to sleep, wash themselves or even use the toilet. Moreover, the guards allocate tasks to other prisoners, ordering them to "'Transform' [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners no matter what methods you use." This encourages prisoners there to unscrupulously persecute Falun Gong practitioners in order to curry favour with the prison administration. -
Elderly Ms. Yue Changzhi Recounts the Torture and Abuse She Experienced in the Beijing Women's Prison
2010-02-26Ms. Yue Changzhi, 70, twice appealed for justice for Falun Gong, and was arrested and detained multiple times. After being forced to leave home to avoid being arrested again, the police put Ms. Yue on a nationwide wanted list. Later, the State Security Ministry arrested her younger daughter in Beijing, tortured her, and finally arrested Ms. Yue Changzhi at her younger daughter's home. They sentenced her to four years in the Beijing Women's Prison. Due to the many tortures she endured, Ms. Yue's life was frequently in danger. Her spine was fractured in two places and because she received no treatment or rest, her spine was seriously bent, and her lower back twisted severely.
