  • Wu Keli and Yuan Wenxin, Husband and Wife from Jilin Province, Are Imprisoned

    Wu Keli, 61, and Yuan Wenxin, 57, husband and wife and both Falun Gong practitioners, have been imprisoned and tortured. Ms. Yuan has been imprisoned twice in a forced labour camp, and Mr. Wu was given a jail term in 2003 after being tortured. Ms. Yuan says: "My mother has three daughters. She has seen all of us endure forced labour. Her son-in-law and youngest grandson were given 5 and 4-year jail terms. Her eldest grandson was held in the Fushun City Brainwashing Centre in Liaoning Province, and her granddaughter was forced to leave home and become destitute. The cruel persecution and heavy mental blows caused her death even though she had always been strong and healthy. She was unable to see her son-in-law before she died on December 31st, 2006."
  • Ms. Wang Li Dies Eight Days after Being Arrested in Shandong Province

    On October 20th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Li, 38, was arrested and sent to Gaomi City Detention Centre. On October 28th, when Ms. Wang's family brought some clothes for her, they were suddenly told that she had already died of a stroke. Her family saw that her body was covered with wounds. The source of information reported that Ms. Wang refused to answer any questions during interrogations, and the police beat her to death.
  • Ms. Sun Shuxiang Close to Death in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp after Being Arrested 12 Times

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun was taken to Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp on October 26th, 2009. She is now close to death. She has been arrested, detained, sentenced to forced labour, and tortured at least 12 times. In 2002, a police officer slapped her and asked which fellow practitioners she knew. Ms. Sun refused to tell them anything. He then used an electric baton to shock her deep in between her lower ribs. He changed to another baton with a higher voltage and started to shock the tips of her toes and up her whole body twice. Then the officer targeted her eyes with the electric baton. She felt as if her eyes were about to fall out, and she could hardly see. Ms. Sun almost died.
  • Mr. Zhang Chunqiu in Hunan Province Persecuted for Eight Years

    Mr. Zhang Chunqiu, 46, a practitioner in Yiyang City, Hunan Province, has been persecuted and undergone all sorts of torture over the past eight years. In Hunan Province First Jail, the guards forced Mr. Zhang to get up at 4:00 a.m. to begin working and not let him rest until 11:00 p.m. Mr. Zhang firmly refused. The squadron leader hung Mr. Zhang up with his hands tied behind his back, and then they hung a 300 pound wooden block on his neck by a thin steel wire. Painted on the block are the words: "For being defiant to the police and refusing to change." This is the famous torture method called "rather die" that was widely used in the past in Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prisons.
  • Ms. Yan Baozhen, in Her Sixties, Suffers Abuse in the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp

    In June 2009,Ms. Yan Baozhen was reported to the police while she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and was sent to Sanshui Forced Labour Camp for one year and three months of forced labour without any legal procedures. When Ms. Yan's husband and children arrived at the camp on October 18th, they could not even recognise her. After one month there, her face had become dark, her mind was not clear and her blood pressure was at 180mmHg. She weighed only 120kg, down from 150kg. Ms. Yan's family demanded her immediate release from the forced labour camp for medical treatment, but the guards refused.
  • Mr. Yin Sirong in Critical Condition--Xishanping Forced Labour Camp Authorities Skirt Responsibility

    Since he started practising Falun Gong in 1996, Mr. Yin Siron has followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and has benefited enormously. Since the persecution began on July 1999, he has been persecuted numerous times. He was forced to leave his home and became homeless in March 2000. He was arrested on a bus in December 2000, and sentenced to three years in a labour camp. He has suffered all kinds of torture and abuse while in Xinhua Forced Labour Camp. He was arrested again on July 31st 2009 and police sent him to Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. In order to protest the persecution, 50-year-old Yin Sirong started a hunger strike.
  • Autopsy Request Denied after Mr. Lizhong Huang Tortured to Death

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Lizhong died on October 25th, 2009, after being ruthlessly persecuted in Panjin Prison for over a year. The prison authorities and the prosecutor from Panjin City refused an autopsy request by Mr. Huang's family to reveal the true cause of his death. Mr. Huang was 47 years old when on February 25th, 2008 he was arrested at his home and sentenced to nine years in prison by the Chinese Communist authorities. In September, he was sent to Panjin Prison. When his family went to visit him on October 20th he had lost so much weight that his bones were protruding from his body. He was shaking, looked to be very weak, and had difficulty talking.
  • Ms. Fan Weihuang from Zhengzhou Arrested

    On October 28th, 2009, a man whose last name is Huang, along with two men and a woman from the Henan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), broke into Ms. Fan Weihuang's house and arrested her. During 2004 and 2007, Ms. Fan Weihuang was tortured by the Guan City Public Security Bureau, and was later persecuted in Xinxiang Women's Prison. She was forced to perform labour in prison, and as a result her fingers became gnarled and her nails deteriorated.
  • Ms. Zhang Lirong Sentenced to Four-Year Prison Term by Shenyang City Tiexi District Court

    Zhang Lirong has practised Falun Gong for 13 years. Since then, her stomach ailments, headaches, and postpartum diseases were all cured without medication. She also became tolerant and friendly. She often gave help to friends in difficult situations without asking for anything in return. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong, she firmly upheld her beliefs, and was sentenced to "re-education through labour" twice. She was persecuted in the Longshan and Masanjia Labour Camps in Shenyang for a total of five years. On July 13th, 2009, Zhang Lirong was arrested in her home by police under the charge of "promoting Falun Gong."
  • Mr. Ma Hongwei, 51, Dies 45 Days after His Release from Detention

    On September 21st, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ma Hongwe was arrested at home and police detained him in the Dezhou City Detention Centre, where he was brutally tortured. By October 7th, Mr. Ma's whole body was swollen. The detention centre authorities rushed him to the Dezhou City People's Hospital for emergency treatment. The Dezhou City Domestic Security Division Chief Zhang Xikun quickly notified Mr. Ma's family and forced them to sign forms, and Mr. Ma was released. The emergency rescue effort failed, and Mr. Ma died on November 5th.
  • Wuwen City Practitioner Li Juhua Sentenced to Forced Labour for a Third Time

    On August 19th, 2009, the 610 Office chief led a dozen men to Ms. Li Juhua's home, took her away, and detained her for almost fifty days. For her faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Li Juhua has suffered countless incidents of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In the past ten years, she has been detained twice, sentenced to imprisonment in a labour camp three times, and lost her freedom for a total of four years. Her home was broken into twice by the CCP and her family has endured harassment and numerous threats.
  • Ms. Wang Yuping Again Arrested, Her Mother-in-law Dies in Distress

    On October 7th, 2009, a kind 76-year-old woman had a stroke and died in Sankeshu Village, Liaoning Province. She missed and worried about her daughter-in-law, Ms. Wang Yuping, who was taken to a forced labour camp six days later. Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2000 for going to Beijing to speak out for justice for Falun Gong. She has now been arrested again, which broke her mother-in-law's heart.
  • Masanjia Forced Labour Camp--Hell on Earth

    Masanjia Forced Labour Camp is the provincial-level labour camp in Liaoning Province. The degree of its evilness is beyond description. The horrors in that camp are also beyond the imagination of anyone who has not personally experienced them. Ma Yaozong, who is disabled and has to use crutches, had to harvest wheat. Mr. Li Changxi's leg was badly injured from a car accident and he was in excruciating pain, yet he had to harvest wheat and perform other kinds of hard labour. The guards did not provide medical treatment. Finally, due to an acute infection, he was taken to a hospital, as the guards did not want to accept responsibility for his health. Everyone had to work and only death could release one from hard labour .
  • Return Justice to My Father

    My father, Yi Sirong, is a Falun Gong practitioner. Mother and I missed father during his month-long detention. Many relatives and friends also cared about father's well-being. Mother rushed about exhausted between Chendu City and Wanzhou District to rescue father, and many fellow practitioners also made great efforts to help. In December 2000, the police arrested father again and subjected him to three years of forced labour. We barely recognised him when he returned. Our strong father had become a walking corpse. He looked so weak, as if a gust of wind would blow him over. On July 31st, 2009, Wanzhou District Baiyan Police Station agents arrested father and held him in the Wanzhou Detention Centre. Mother wasn't informed until a week later that my father was imprisoned, but we still didn't know why and how father was arrested.
  • Ms. Liu Ronghua Sentenced to Two Years of Forced Labour

    Ms. Liu Ronghua is a 45-year-old Falun Gong practitioner and a lecturer at Dalian Fisheries School. She had an article published in the Chinese Encyclopaedia. In April 2001, police arrested Ms. Liu because she practises Falun Gong and sent her to a forced labour camp in July of that year for a one-year term. Li Yuanpeng, the secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at the school, dismissed Ms. Liu from her job and Ms. Liu's husband divorced her under pressure from the authorities. On October 21st, 2009, the Committee for "Re-education" Through Forced Labour of Dalian City collaborated with the Qingniwaqiao Police Station of Dalian Public Security Bureau to send Ms. Liu Ronghua to a forced labour camp for a two-year term.
