  • Elderly Women Visiting a Neighbour Arrested for "Unlawful Assembly" in Beijing

    A group of a dozen police officers and officials went to the home of Ms. Zhang, an elderly Falun Gong practitioner in Chaoyang District, Beijing, on July 29th. They verbally abused her and ransacked her home. Three other practitioners, Ms. Zhai Shutian, 61; Ms. Han Ming, 62; and Ms. Zhou Liyan, 55, were visiting Ms. Zhang at the time. The police arrested them on grounds of "unlawful assembly." The three women are Ms. Zhang's friends and neighbours who are also residents of Chaoyang District. How could a few elderly women visiting a friend be construed as "unlawful assembly"? Were they really committing a crime?
  • Two Female Falun Gong Practitioners Subjected to Cruel Torture in Yueyang City, Hunan Province

    Practitioner Ms. Wang Ping was sent to the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City and held there for two years, while being subjected to various tortures. Guards forced her to stand for three days and nights continuously and then they handcuffed her for 24 hours. They subjected her to brainwashing and handcuffing if she didn't cooperate. Wang Ping experienced eight kinds of cuffing: back cuff, "five horses splitting a body" cuff, hanging up in the air while being cuffed, squatting while cuffed and others. Sometimes they forced her to sit on a small stool with ridges on the seat for an entire day.
  • Unjust Trials for Several Falun Gong Practitioners at the Jiamusi Court

    Police arrested 26-year-old Ma Duo and sentenced her to three years in prison on May 23 , 2008. Her family got the notice on June 6th. Ma Duo and her family sent an appeal to a higher court and retained a Beijing lawyer to defend her. When her relative went to the Jiamusi Intermediate Court to go through normal trial procedure, more than ten officers from the Domestic Security division arrested four of her family members and his relatives in the presence of the lawyer. It is said the purpose of the arrest was to trace the person who hired the lawyer from Beijing.
  • Investigation Lead: A Zhengzhou Hospital in Henan Province Found a Liver and Kidney for Transplant in Three Weeks

    The horrifying discovery of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners and the immediate cremation of their bodies to destroy evidence was first reported on March 4th, 2006. The Falun Dafa Association and Minghui website (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom) founded the "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China" (CIPFG) on April 4th, 2006. CIPFG is collecting evidence of the crime of organ harvesting. The following are several investigation leads obtained recently. We hope that people will continue to help us expose how Falun Gong practitioners are brutally persecuted in re-education labour camps (also called forced labour camps), prisons, and hospitals in China, and help stop the persecution.
  • Liu Xiumei Tortured to Death - Her Family Members Will Take Legal Action

    Falun Gong practitioner Liu Xiumei was taken away from her home on July 10th, 2008 by police from the Developing Zone Police Station. On July 27th, her family members learned that Liu Xiumei had died as a result of being severely tortured. During her detention, Liu Xiumei's husband Wang Qinglu and their son went to the police station numerous times to inquire about her situation. Later, an official promised them that he would release Liu Xiumei on July 21st, but it never happened. Liu Xiumei's husband has now engaged a lawyer to take legal action over her death, and the lawyer needs the diagnosis report as evidence. But the police station and the hospital are shifting the responsibility to each other, and both refuse to provide the report.
  • Nine Years of Persecution for Zhao Ting and Her Family in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province

    In September 2002, police once again arrested my husband and sent him to Gongjiawan brainwashing centre. During that time the director of the facility brutally persecuted my husband. They handcuffed him for about one week. They forced my husband to tell them about my whereabouts. I was hoemless to avoid persecution. They released him after persecuting him for over 15 months. During that time, my 11-year old son lived alone and barely had enough food to eat. He spent every night in fear.
  • Practitioner Cheng Zipeng's Whole Family Persecuted in Anlu City, Hubei Province

    Communist Party officials sent 46-year-old practitioner Cheng Zipeng to Sanyang Forced Labour Camp for one and a half years in 2001. This labour camp is a living hell. It is the place where drug addicts, criminals, and guards abuse innocent detainees. Team leader Li forced Cheng Zipeng to stand facing a wall for eight hours. He had to stand on one leg in a snowy field. In the morning he had to squat in the military position. In the afternoon he had to sit on a small stool. He was forbidden to speak and use the toilet; forced to do physical labour; and dragged into the toilet by drug addicts who beat and kicked him. This gross abuse caused him to lose consciousness, and thus he was released on medical bail.
  • Zhang Zongquan Persecuted and His Home Ransacked in Fengrun, Tangshan

    On July 10th, 2008, police broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Zongyuan. Without showing any ID, they ransacked his home, confiscating a motorcycle. Zhang Zongquan is unable to return home, as further persecution would be the almost certain result. In 1999, Zhang Zongquan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but was arrested. Police handcuffed his hands onto the edge of the bed, forced him to kneel down, and kicked him fiercely. In the 610 Office policemen beat practitioners' legs with lengths of wood, even attacking their faces. In the Fengrun Detention Centre policemen tortured practitioners with 'Deadly Strings.' 'Deadly Strings,' is to tie the hands behind the back, tie the whole body, and then hang it up. Generally, people become permanently handicapped within fifteen minutes from this torture.
  • Ms. Wang Jinfeng Suffers Cruel Torture and Abuse at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    Practitioner Ms. Wang Jinfeng was arrested and incarcerated at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province on March 5th, 2008. This time she was sentenced to two years of forced labour. On her fifth day she refused to be "reformed". Team leaders handcuffed her and hung her up. They handcuffed Ms. Wang to a metal torture device and stretched her arms. They gagged her and tied her legs to benches and then pulled the benches apart. Wang Jinfeng was in a great pain. Her cries echoed through the building. She could not move her arms, and the handcuffs injured her wrists, cutting into the flesh and exposing the bones.
  • Police Relentlessly Persecute Ms. Liu Jinying, Former Deputy Chief of the Laishui County Appeals Office in Hebei Province, and Her Family

    Since the beginning of 2008, the Communist personnel have used the excuse of "cleaning up" for the Olympics Games to further persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Liu Jinying's home was once again ransacked. She was harassed by the police who also confiscated a Falun Gong book. At this time Liu Jinying's husband, Mr. Zhang Dongsheng, is being incarcerated at Shijiazhuang's No. 4 Prison in Hebei Province. Before this, Liu Jinying has been arrested on numerous occasions. She was humiliated and in 2000 she was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. She has been cruelly tortured at Taixing Prison of Hebei Province, and the No. 2 Women's Prison in Shijiazhuang.
  • Chinese Communist Party in Baoding City Forces Local Businesses to Monitor Their Falun Gong Employees

    The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Baoding City is forcing the local businesses to participate in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. The CCP is using the "stability of the Olympics" as an excuse for this newest wave of persecution. The photo below is a signed agreement between the Baoding Power Company and the CCP. The agreement states that the Baoding Power Company will monitor their employees who practise Falun Gong. The agreement also states that employees must monitor and report their relatives who practise Falun Gong. If they fail to spy on their own families around the clock, seven days a week, they will be fired.
  • Formal Complaints Filed From Practitioners at the Sichuan Women's Forced Labour Camp

    On March 10th, 2008, I was arrested by police. Police woman Gou Yongqiong was violent to wards me, and began slapping me on both sides of my face. She also kicked both of my legs with the boots that she was wearing. She insulted me at the same time, "You , I just want to beat you up." I demanded her name, in the name of justice. Her eyes were filled with anger and she yelled at me, "You listen to this carefully. My name is Gou Yongqiong. You ." Then she left the room, possibly due to being tired from beating and swearing at me. After a while, I heard Li Xia crying loudly, "They are assaulting me. The police are assaulting me. They are beating me to death. You are police for the people. How can you take the people's money and in return beat us up?"
  • Crimes Committed by the Yongji County Police Department, Jilin Province, in the Lead up to the Olympic Games

    The Yongji County Political and Judiciary Committee, the 610 Office, the local police department, the State Security Division, and police officers from the Chengnan, Chengbei, and Chengxi police departments, all took part in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. The police arrested Mr. Zhu Yeguang, Ms. Sun Xiaomei, and Ms. Zhang Fengrong. Mr. Zhu and Ms. Sun were detained for fifteen days. After police extorted 10,000 and 20,000 yuan from them, respectively, they were released. Ms. Zhang's family is very poor; they barely have enough to eat. Yet, State Security Division chief, Wang Shuxiang, told them: "If you have money, we'll release Ms. Li, otherwise we'll send her to a forced labour camp."
  • Some Authorities in Liaoning Province Use the Means of Not Registering Residency to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

    The Xiangdong Chemical Factory in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province was shut down in 2006. The factory leaders decided to relocate their workers. A portion of the workers were relocated to the Bayuquan Development Zone in Yingkou City. Up until March of this year there were over 3,000 families whose residencies were registered in the new location. However, a portion of Falun Gong practitioners were unable to get their residency registered. This means that their basic rights and benefits as residents of that area were totally taken away from them. In China, without valid registered residency, you cannot apply for a residence identity card. Without the registered residency and identity card, you cannot go to school or apply for jobs.
  • Retired Senior Engineer from Handan Steel Company Arrested Again

    Retired senior engineer Qin Zhongke, 65, and his wife were arrested on July 15th, 2008 by police officers. Mr. Qin Zhongke is being detained in the No. 1 Detention Centre in Handan City. His wife has been released. previously, Mr. Qin Zhongke was detained in Handan Labour Camp. From July 2nd to 23rd, 2002, Mr. Qin was deprived of sleep, was forced to stand for long periods of time under the baking sun, and was forced to stand day and night. His legs and feet became extremely swollen, he could not walk and he became very weak. In order to stop the brutal persecution, he began a hunger strike. He was force-fed several times, and his family had to pay the bill. The guards shouted: "Even if you pretend to be 'transformed,' you still have to write the 'repentance statement' before you can go to sleep."
