  Ms. Tao Weixiang, 56, a practitioner from Xianning City, Hubei Province, was arrested by local police on numerous occasions. While in custody, she exhibited symptoms of severe hypertension and was taken to a hospital for treatment. She subsequently suffered a stroke. As a result, she is still unable to speak clearly, the right side of her body is paralysed, and she is unable to take care of herself.

• Dafa Practitioners in Qinduankou Jail in Hubei Province Resist the Persecution Despite Brutal Consequences

  In July 2006, about twenty-two practitioners jointly wrote an open letter to jail police persuading the police to treat practitioners well and also persuading them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its related organisations. Since then, however, the police in the jail escalated their persecution of practitioners. Among them, practitioner Min Changchun was transferred to the No. 11 branch. Dafa practitioner Wu Zhiqiang presented the open letter to the police. A few days later, he was transferred to the No. 12 branch. Dafa practitioner Hu Zhigang sponsored the open letter. He was later taken to the special police team and was brutally beaten up three different times.

• The Persecution of the Dai Family in Chishui City, Guizhou Province

  In 1996, when Falun Dafa spread to Chishui City, there were nine people from the Dai family who practised Falun Dafa. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, members of the Dai family have several times been forced to undergo brainwashing, sentenced to labour camp, and tortured. In May 2003, Ms. Huang Jialan was sentenced to three years of forced labour at Zhongba Forced Labour Camp. In January 2000, Mr. Dai Qiyuan was sentenced to three years of forced labour for joining in the group exercises. In May 2006, he was forced to undergo brainwashing for one hundred days. In February 2002, Ms. Li Zhengyun was sentenced to three years of forced labour and became handicapped as a result of torture.

• Exposing Crimes at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison

  Practitioner Zhang Juxian was emaciated from torture by mid August. Guard Zhao Xiumei sat in the hallway (to avoid the stench inside the room) and screamed at Zhang Juxian, "When are you going to die? I've already prepared your death gown and you can die right now! If you have anything to say, speak now!" She went inside and removed the tape from Zhang Juxian's mouth. Zhang Juxian mustered all of her strength and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" "Falun Dafa is righteous!" "Falun Gong practitioners are good people!" "Do not persecute Falun Gong practitioners!" Zhao Xiumei was furious and screamed, "Go ahead and die!" Inmate Zhu Qirong tortured Zhang Juxian again, and shortly afterwards, Zhang Juxian's body was secretly carried out during the night.

• Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Gong Xingcan, an Economist in Sichuan Province, Arrested Several Times for Practising Falun Gong

  Falun Gong practitioner and economist Ms. Gong Xingcan, who worked in the Deyang City Postal Bureau of Sichuan Province, has been arrested several times and sentenced to forced labour twice for practising Falun Gong. She was arrested again on April 26th, 2006 and has been imprisoned since then. She is now locked up in the notorious Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong, which is known for brutally persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. The persecution severely impacted Gong Xingcan's husband and parents. Her husband passed away under the huge mental pressure. The 610 Office fined and pressured her parents.

• Jin Fanlong, a Practitioner of Korean Ethnicity, Died as a Result of Torture Received in the Jiutai Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province

  Jin Fanlong was persecuted for two years in the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp. As a result he was bed-ridden. He passed away on May 11th, 2006. The methods used to torture Falun Gong practitioners in Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp include: deprivation of sleep, sitting straight on a plank for a lengthy period, lying on a bed with hands and feet handcuffed to the headboards, hands cuffed and hung up with feet off or barely touching the ground, inmates pinching practitioners' genitals and eyes, inmates pricking practitioners with needles, and the most often used, beating. Police and inmates forcibly tied determined practitioners to the bed with their hands and feet tied to the four corners of the bed using handcuffs and ropes. The practitioners' bodies were outstretched and they couldn't move. They were kept in this position for a long period and were in extreme pain.

• Mr. Sun Yaoting Sentenced to Xinmi Men's Prison in Henan Province

  On May 8th, 2007, Mr. Sun Yaoting was secretly sent to Xinmi Men's Prison without his family being notified. The prison refused to take him since he could hardly breathe or walk, after he was tortured at a detention centre. His relatives were ordered to pay for a physical examination. A medical parole would be arranged through the courthouse if he was too sick, but he would be sent to Xinmi Men's Prison if his condition was not that bad. His family didn't have the money to pay for the exam, so the Yanshi City Political & Judiciary Committee found several so-called experts to examine him. They reported that his tuberculosis was negative and not contagious. On June 13th, 2007, Sun was sent to Xinmi Men's Prison. He had to be carried into the prison.

• Authorities at Banqiao Women's Prison in Tianjin City Combine Hard Labour and Brainwashing in Attempts to Break Practitioners' Wills

  I am a researcher studying medical science and technology. I am a firm believer in Falun Dafa and was once detained in the Banqiao Women's Prison in Tianjin City. Practitioners there were not only tortured mentally through intense brainwashing, but were also tortured physically through hard labour. The prison officials forced the practitioners to pick beans, make car cushions, and to sew military uniforms and shirts. On average, they were forced to work over 18 hours per day, and often past 3:00 a.m. They had no rights and no labour law protection.

• Mr. Bian Liangjing Arrested Again and Elderly Practitioner Ms. Liu Qiaohui Arrested

  On the morning of July 11th, 2007, police broke into the home of Ms. Liu Qiaohu, a sixty-seven-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner, ransacked it, confiscated personal property and arrested her. Ms. Liu told the police, "There is nothing wrong with practising Falun Gong. There is nothing wrong with cultivating Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Your action is against the law." The police did not listen to them and instead kicked Ms. Liu and her elderly sister. Her body was black and blue from being kicked. The police refused to let Ms. Liu's family members visit her.

• My Memories of Practitioner Ms. Lin Tiemei from Guangxi Autonomous Region

  Several "collaborators" tried to "transform" Ms. Lin, but she resisted it with a strong will. From then on, the police tried everything to torture Ms. Lin both mentally and physically. They attempted to make her give up Falun Dafa through the following brutal methods: shocking her for an extended duration with electric batons, suspending her in the air to beat her, not letting her use the toilet, instigating the inmates who were drug addicts to beat her, and depriving her of sleep for a long time. None of these tortures could move Lin Tiemei. For a very long period of time, Ms. Lin was on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. The guards brutally force-fed her, causing her mouth to bleed. On December 8th, 2005, she died from the persecution at the Guangxi Women's Forced Labour Camp and Mental Hospital. Lin Tiemei was only 33 years old.

• Ms. Mao Chunxia from Luoyang City, Henan Province Suffers Relentless Persecution; Her Father Dies from Trauma

  For refusing to renounce Falun Gong, Ms. Mao Chunxia was sent to a forced labour camp in 2000, where she suffered severe abuse. On December 23rd, 2006, the police officers from the National Security Team of the Chanhe District Police Department in Luoyang City forcefully ransacked her home and arrested her. They detained Mao Chunxia for 15 days at first. Afterwards, they changed the detention term to a criminal detention term and planned to send her to a labour camp again. However, she escaped on the day her initial 15-day term expired. Nobody has known her whereabouts since then. The National Security Team police officers in the Chanhe District Police Department frequently harassed her family members. Her father could not bear the constant pressure. As a result, he fell ill and died on February 7th, 2007.

• Exposing the Evil Deeds of Perpetrator Sun Haibo from Changyi City, Shandong Province

  Sun Haibo used a leather belt to savagely beat female practitioners. The feet of some practitioners were swollen severely and bruised as a result, and they were not able to put shoes on. Sun Haibo instigated inmates to handcuff a female practitioner and ordered one inmate to pin her down and another to insert a big plastic tube (not the kind used in hospitals, and not disinfected at all) into her mouth. They then put a funnel-like gadget on the other end of the tube and poured food in. Some practitioners vomited mouthfuls of blood during these brutal forced-feeding sessions. Sun didn't even spare elderly or young practitioners from this torture. Sun Haibo also stole money and property from practitioners and took it as her own.

• Criminal Prisoners Incited to Brutally Torture Ms. Liu Dan in Heilongjiang Province Women's Forced Labour Camp

  Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Dan is 29 years old and from Jixi City in Heilongjiang Province. She was arrested and sent to Heilongjiang Province Women's Forced Labour Camp on March 1st, 2006. At one time she went on a hunger strike for several months. On October 3rd, 2006, criminal inmate monitor Han Ying beat her brutally, so she went on a third hunger strike. She has resisted the persecution and suffered brutal torture at the hands of criminal inmates. Ms. Liu is now extremely thin and weak.

• Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Li Enying Died from Torture - His Family Placed Under Surveillance for Seeking Justice

  Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Enying passed away on July 29th, 2007, after being tortured at the Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp. His family spotted large bruises on his back and behind his ears and called the police after failing to identify the cause of death. When they went to the Tanghai County Police Department and demanded an explanation, the police were quite afraid. They tried to evade responsibility and sent officers to watch Li Enying's family near their home.

• The Ms. Su Kezhen I Knew

  Ms. Su Kezhen, a Falun Dafa practitioner was arrested multiple times during the recent years of the persecution of Falun Gong. In the Wuhan Women's Prison, she was subjected to various types of torture and many of her teeth were knocked out. On a number of occasions the severe, brutal nature of the torture rendered her unconscious and she had to be carried home by her family. Under constant harassment and threats, she passed away on May 24th, 2007.
