  We felt so hungry and cold after being tortured and being forced to stand in the rain for over 10 hours. Our clothes were soaking wet and we were trembling because of the cold. (6 among us were over 60 years old.) All others could go back to their cells, but we 4 were locked in a cage less than 10 square metres in diametre for 2 months. We ate, drank and urinated in that cage. The vicious policemen were in the adjoining rooms. The cage was in their path for them to see when walking back and forth. They could see us when we urinated.

When she tried to escape from her sixth floor window by sliding down on a long strip of cloth, she tragically fell to the ground and died.

In order to shirk responsibility for her rapidly declining condition, the prison released her on March 6, 2003. On May 8, not long after her return home, Guo Songmei sadly passed away.
