  Bai Yuzhi, who has been persecuted so severely and has been on hunger strike for so long, has now lost vision in both of her eyes. Her feet, legs and both hands are trembling, with extreme pain. She should be released for medical care, yet the No. 2 prison forbids her family and friends from visiting and even dares to intensify the persecution, tormenting her mentally. Ouyang Ming worked as a teacher at Huanggang Industrial College, Hunan Province, and his brother Ouyang Yu is an Australian citizen. The Chinese government claims that Ouyang Ming's death was the result of an accident during his escape from the hospital. • The Torture That Led to the Death of 26 Year Old Mr. Song Changguang

  Due to internal wounds and foot injuries sustained through beating and torture in the labour camp over a month before, Mr. Song had difficulty walking, could no longer work, and often coughed and experienced lung congestion. He was often in extreme pain and his health status was unstable. In November 2003, he was bed-ridden and could no longer stand up. His family sent him to the Jiutai hospital for treatment, but medicine did not help him. Six days later, Song Changguan died on November 12th.

  Hui Yuexin, 23 years old, has been left with brain damage and is unable to move her limbs. She closed her eyes to take a rest and as punishment she was placed in solitary confinement. Policemen Li Yufang and Zhang Yi beat her violently and kicked her head. When they became tired they instigated criminals Wang Hongwei, Wang He, Yu Haiyang and others to beat Hui Yuexin. Hui lost consciousness and went into shock. When she regained consciousness, they placed her on a small stool, not allowing her to move.

  One evening a policeman forced us to kneel down in the corridor. One cadre who came for inspection found out and asked: "Who has punished you like that? Who approved such measures?" The police did not dare to admit to it and immediately had practitioners go back to their cells. When the cadre left, the police again forced us to kneel down in the corridor. We were punished again like this the next day. This was repeated several times.

  In late August 2003, following large-scale efforts by practitioners to expose the persecution, the authorities established a 'Law Education Base' (brainwashing centre) to be headed by the deputy secretary of the City Political and Judiciary Committee and the "610 Office" director, Lu Jinchang. They had the City Criminal Police Branch leader and the assistant director of the "610 Office," Zhu Bangyi, lead policemen to convert hotels and motels into bases for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Police arrested dozens of practitioners, sent them to a labour camp, detained, or forced them to go to a brainwashing centre.

• Guangxi: Dafa Practitioners Mr. Xuan Deqiong and Mr. Wang Rencheng Tortured to Death by Police

  Since July 20, 1999, police in Qinbei District, Qinzhou City, Guangxi Chuang Municipality Autonomous Region have been brutally persecuting Dafa practitioners. They tortured two practitioners to death in March and June of 2001 respectively. Afterwards they tightly blocked the information and details of the deaths were not known until recently. Mr. Wang Rencheng was a 35-year-old practitioner who lived in Dazhi Town, Qinbei District. In 2000, he was illegally detained in the Qinzhou No.2 Detention Centre by the Qinbei District Police Department after he distributed Dafa truth-clarifying flyers. In June 2001, he was shocked to death with electric batons during interrogation. However, the government claimed that he died because of his contact with high-voltage electricity.

  The court started to pass verdict without any due legal procedures, which enraged the accused's relatives and friends sitting in the public gallery. Li Jun and his fellow practitioners started to sing the song "Falun Dafa is Good" and their voices could be heard in and around the court, which made the evildoers fearful and deeply moved kind-hearted people. In view of this circumstance, the judges wanted to send them away as soon as possible, but Li Jun and his fellow practitioners refused to cooperate with their illegal conduct. The police resorted to violence, but the people present condemned their conduct. The police used violence to cover up their inner fear, threatening to beat anyone who dared to criticize them.

On February 1, 2002, she was tortured to death at Beijing Police Hospital, because she believed in Truthfulness - Compassion - Tolerance.

  In 2001, Chen Changfa was accused of wrongdoing, when he was clarifying the truth to people. In August 2001, he was forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home. Nevertheless, he continued appealing for Dafa. Soon thereafter, he was arrested by police in Hunan, and brutally tortured to death. In May, 2002, police from Hunan Province acting on information contained in his personal I.D. card, took a photo of his dead, tortured body to his local police station and informed them that he had died.

• Jilin Province: At Least Ten Falun Gong Practitioners Are Tortured to Death at the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp

  Starting from the end of 2001, Wang Yunkun, Secretary of the Jilin Province Party Committee, and Lin Yanzhi, Vice Secretary of the Jilin Province Party Committee started devising and directing a large-scale persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at the Chaoyanggou Labour Camp. In March 2003, Wang Yunkun required them to "Achieve a 95% conversion rate [percentage of practitioners forced to give up their belief] by any means and any cost, and send the remaining 5% to prison." To achieve the so called "conversion rate," all policemen and some criminals of the Chaoyanggou Labour Camp cruelly beat practitioners using 10,000-volt electric batons, truncheons, police ropes, hoe handles, handcuffs, V-belts, axes, etc. Usually a dozen of them beat one practitioner. The effects are so brutal that blood can be seen all over the walls.

Frequently, there were authorities from labour camps in surrounding areas that came to learn their techniques for breaking down Falun Gong practitioners and forcing them to renounce their belief. Many steadfast practitioners were transferred here from other forced labour camps in Shijiazhuang City, Tangshan City, and Baoding City in order to intensify the persecution against them.

  Disregarding his life-threatening condition, the City Director and City Manager ordered the police department to take Zhu to a forced labour camp. The labour camp refused to take Zhu because they were unwilling to shoulder responsibility for Zhu's life-threatening condition. Even after five failed attempts, the police department still refused to release him. Presently Zhu is still detained in the City Detention Centre. The mayor of Shulan city, Zhang Zhimin, announced to his subordinates: "We won't release him even if he is dead."

• Heilongjiang Province: Corrupt Police Frame and Arrest a Woman then Send Her Son to a Nursing Home

  On October 28, 2003, Ju Qingsong, together with another policeman name Fu, broke into the house of practitioner Li Xiuqin when she was not there. Li's neighbour witnessed the break-in. They did not find anything in her home, so they planted a bag of materials in her room. When Li came back home, the police arrested her. A policeman went into her room and took out the bag of Dafa flyers. The police told people that she was arrested when she was distributing flyers outside. The police then sent her 11-year-old child to the local nursing home. The child did not want to go there and cried nonstop. The local Director of the Residential Committee also shed tears. However, the policemen, who were only interested in making money by catching Falun Gong practitioners, and had no sympathy at all.
