Ms. Cong Peijing from Dalian City, Liaoning Province Has Difficulty Walking after Suffering Police Abuse
2008-11-11Ms. Cong Peijing was arrested by police on October 14th, 2008. During the arrest, her spine was re-injured. She is now imprisoned in the Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City. She has been arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) 6 or 7 times and suffered brutal persecution. A part of her spine was fractured and dislocated in 2001. In order to escape from the CCP, she jumped from a high window of a police station in Jinzhou District, injuring her spine. Afterwards, she was tortured numerous times by the CCP. As a result, her spine was never able to fully recover. In August 2006, she was arrested by officers from the Wanli Police Station. She went on a hunger strike to protest against persecution at the Yaojia Detention Centre and was subjected to force-feeding. She was tortured to the verge of death. -
Ms. Yang Shufen Sentenced to Eight Years Imprisonment in Xishui County, Hubei Province
2008-11-10After Jiang Zemin's [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime began the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Yang Shufen, 44 years old, went to Beijing to appeal for justice and was arrested by the Beijing police. After that she endured repeated arrests by police. In April 2007, police arrested her in Wuhan City. After she was imprisoned for over a year at the Xishui Detention Centre, she was sentenced to an additional eight years on a fabricated charge. Her appeal was turned down. In the beginning of September 2008, she was taken to the Wuhan Women's Prison. Since then, her family has not received any messages or information about her current situation and are deeply concerned about her safety. -
Please Help Rescue My Mother, Detained for the Fifth Time for Practising Falun Gong
2008-11-09My 65-year-old mother's name is Fu Shaozhen. She was arrested on December 25th, 2007 for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. The Wuhan 610 Office deceived my family by saying that they would release my mother immediately after the Olympic Games was over. The Olympic Games has finished, but my mother has not been released. She is still imprisoned and being tortured. -
Nearly Seventy-year-old Mr. Gao Guangchong Sent to Forced Labour Camp in Sichuan Province
2008-11-09After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, elderly Mr. Gao Guangchong was arrested eleven times. He was imprisoned in forced labour camps on numerous occasions, suffering inhumane torture each time. His home was often ransacked and twice he was forced into homelessness to avoid being arrested. On October 14th, 2007, over thirty police officers forcibly entered Mr. Gao's home and arrested him. On March 28th, 2008, the Huili County CCP Procuratorate and Court put Mr. Gao on trial. As a result of the torture he suffered while being detained, Mr. Gao's whole body was severely swollen from oedema, making it very difficult for him to stand. In September 2008 Mr. Gao's family members were finally informed that he had been sentenced to three years in a Forced Labour Camp and was taken there on October 16th, 2008. -
Ms. He Xueping Arrested Again After Recent Release from Labour Camp
2008-11-09Ms. He Xueping, a practitioner from Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, has been suffering from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution for a long time. She had just been released from Sanshui Women's Forced Labour Camp on June 30th, 2008, when she was arrested again on September 2nd. Informants stated that Ms. He Xueping's current arrest was made in retaliation for her report on the persecution in the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp. -
Officials from Shanghai Xuhui Court Mistreat Falun Gong Practitioners
2008-11-08On October 21st, 2008, the Shanghai Xuhui Court held a hearing for practitioners Mr. Liu Peng, Ms. Zheng Yan and Ms. Zhang Xumei. There were over seventy police officers and plain-clothes police officers in the courtroom and security was tight. Some of the people who planned to watch the hearing were threatened. Ms. Zhang Yuxia has been a friend of Mr. Liu Peng and Ms. Zhang Xumei for many years. The authorities found her to be "suspicious" and detained her. Ms. Zhang Yuxia had planned to watch the hearing, however, officials from the court called the officials from the school where she is employed and demanded that they stop her from watching the hearing. They also threatened that she would be arrested and held temporarily if she did come to watch. -
Policemen in Tangshan City Imprison a Family of Four
2008-11-07On July 10th, 2008, Ms. Zhang Yueqin, her husband He Yixing, their daughter He Yan and son-in-law Sun Fengli were all arrested by police in Tangshan. The police broke into Ms. Zhang's residence, breaking their windows and doors. They searched her residence, took many valuable personal belongings and more than 600,000 Yuan cash. They were all locked up in the First Detention Centre in Tangshan. A team of people from the Hebei Provincial 610 Office came to the detention centre to brainwash all four of them. In July, Ms. Zhang was the first of the four who was subjected to the torture method "Death Bed". On August 13th, the authorities at the Detention Centre refused to allow the lawyer to see Zhang Yueqin and He Yixing. Their excuse was that they had orders from higher authorities. -
Mr. Lu Yuexin and His Wife Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison, Leaving 12-Year-Old Son at Home
2008-11-06Mr. Lu Yuexin and his wife Ms. Huang Manping were arrested on March 5th, 2008 because they continue to practise Falun Gong. The police drove seven cars to Ms. Huang's home and ransacked it. They have been held at a detention centre since the arrest. The Lanshan County Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Court sentenced the couple to seven years in prison. The couple's 12-year-old son is left without his parents' care. -
Mr. Li Gu of Nanchang City Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison
2008-11-06Mr. Li Gu, a Falun Gong practitioner in his 30s, was arrested when he went out at night to distribute Falun Gong materials at the end of January 2008. He was incarcerated in the Nanchang City Second Prison until he was later sentenced to eight years in prison by the Superior Court at Qingshanhu in Nanchang City. He was savagely beaten and his family was denied visitation. His wife was also arrested and incarcerated in the Nanchang City Second Prison. -
Police from the Public Security Bureau in Jiansanjiang, Heilongjiang Province Torture Falun Gong Practitioners
2008-11-05On March 21st, 2008, five Falun Gong practitioners from Jiansanjiang, Heilongjiang Province were arrested and taken to the local police station, when they were explaining the truth about Falun Gong to people at the Qinglong Mountain Farm. That night, practitioners Mr. Shi Mengwei, Mr. Chen Dong and Mr. Tian Baoyu were locked up separately, and mercilessly beaten by seven or eight policemen. When the policemen became tired, they took a break by interrogating Ms. Yu Fengxian and Ms. Sun Yan, and then continued beating the three male practitioners. The next day, these practitioners were transferred to the Qianjin Farm Detention Centre. -
Ms. Liu Yurong from Linghai City Sentenced--Now Detained in Shenyang Prison
2008-11-05Ms. Liu Yurong was sentenced to six years in prison by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She is currently being detained at the Shenyang Prison. Following her arrest in May for practising Falun Gong she was held in a detention centre. she showed signs of a stroke from the persecution. She was unable to get out of bed. The police ordered her family to give them 800 yuan, but still didn't allow them to visit her. When Ms. Liu Yurong's mother saw how the persecution had damaged the health of her daughter, who was previously very healthy, the older woman broke down and burst into tears. -
Ms. Sun Yinghui Arrested and Beaten by Police in Dalian City
2008-11-03On September 14th, 2008, a dozen people broke into a shop owned by an elderly lady. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Yinghui was at the shop and they arrested her. At the police station, the police asked her whether she practised Falun Gong and said things that slandered this spiritual practice. Ms. Sun told them that was her belief and nobody should interfere. When the police asked Ms. Sun how she obtained her Falun Gong materials, Ms. Sun realized they had searched her home and confiscated her belongings. A 610 Officer brutally beat her. Ms. Sun was in severe pain and almost lost consciousness. -
Famous Calligrapher Liu Xitong Persecuted in Shandong Province Prison
2008-11-03Mr. Liu Xitong, 56, a famous calligrapher from Shandong Province, was sentenced to four years of imprisonment by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in May 2008 in Qingdao City for practising Falun Gong. Before this, he was detained and persecuted at the detention centre in Qingdao City by CCP officials, who claimed a need to "maintain security for the Olympic Games." His family was prohibited from visiting him. Presently, he is being held in the No.1 Shandong Provincial Prison. His family went to visit him but were denied entry. Mr. Liu refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong. Because of this, he suffered inhuman torture. Mr. Liu's body and mind were seriously damaged. -
Mr. Kang Hong Is Sentenced to Forced Labour Again After Having Served Seven Years of Forced Labour
2008-11-02Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Kang Hong is a resident of Chongqing City. He has been sentenced to forced labour three times. He has served two two-year terms and one three-year term. On August 23rd, 2008, he was arrested again, and was later sentenced to forced labour once again. He was locked up at Xishanping Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City. At present, both of his legs are in casts and he is unable to walk. -
Jixi City Court Sentences Jiang Yabin to Jail Term
2008-11-01Mr. Jiang Yabin is a Falun Gong practitioner from Jixi City of Heilongjiang Province. On October 13th, 2008, when several of his family members went to the city courthouse to appeal for his release and inform the officials about his innocence, the criminal court head Li Jiangang rejected their request. He told them, "Jiang Yabin has been sentenced to three years in jail. The sentence cannot be overturned." Mr. Jiang's family asked, "When was he sentenced? Why were we not informed?" Li told them that the sentence was issued on October 9th and that they should go to the intermediate court if they wanted to appeal.
