Three Elderly Female Practitioners Sentenced in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province
2011-10-02The Wucheng District Court in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, sentenced three female practitioners for practising Falun Gong and telling others the facts about the persecution. The practitioners are appealing to the middle court. Ms. Bao Xiaomei, 74, was arrested on June 25th, 2010. Several policemen broke into her home, seized her property and Falun Gong books. Police took her to the Qiyi Farm Brainwashing Camp from June 25th to August 7th, 2010. The court sentenced Ms. Bao to seven years in prison. -
Ms. Geng Ruizhi Sentenced to Four Years in Prison, Her Daughter Arrested and Threatened
2011-10-01Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Geng Ruizhi was sentenced to four years in prison by a local court. She was taken to the Inner Mongolia No. 1 Women's Prison at the end of August. Police interrogated and tortured her while she was in custody. They tied her to a customised metal chair and deprived her of sleep for six days; in addition, He Cai severely beat Ms. Geng. As a result, the joints in Ms. Geng's wrists were seriously damaged, and her health deteriorated. When Ms. Geng was arrested at home in February, her daughter objected to the police taking her mother away. The police proceeded to arrest both of them. -
Thirteen Practitioners Arrested in Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province
2011-09-30Thirteen Falun Gong practitioners were recently arrested by officers from the Ruichang City Police Department in Jiangxi Province. Ms. Zhu Xiaomei and Liu Juzhen were arrested by police on May 21st, while they were out putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked and their families were forced to pay 10,000 yuan each in cash. The practitioners were released on June 5th, but were put under surveillance at their home. -
A Sham Trial Against Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yang Xueyan from Qingdao City, Shandong Province
2011-09-30On May 13th, 2011, Ms. Yang Xueyan was arrested by police because of her personal collection of Falun Gong books and materials containing important facts about Falun Gong and about the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She was then detained in Dashan Detention Centre in Qingdao City. She was tried at Laoshan District Court on September 9th. After having witnessed the sham trial against his daughter, Mr. Yang shouted angrily as he exited the courthouse, “The Communist Party is worse than the mafia!” She was tried again on September 19th at No. 1 Court of Dashan Detention Centre in Qingdao City. -
Over 30 Practitioners from Jinshi City, Hunan Province Arrested and Their Homes Ransacked
2011-09-29More than 30 practitioners from Jinshi City in Hunan Province were arrested on September 5th, 2011. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated many of their personal belongings. Some practitioners have been transferred to other counties and cities. Several practitioners, including Ms. Ou Shulan, Fang Xiaopeng and Ms. Ding Xuecui, have managed to escape and returned home. Ms. Liu Qingxiu’s older sister, who is a not a practitioner, was also taken into custody and tortured. With the help of her family’s strong protest to the authorities, she was released five days later. -
Mr. Yang Zongquan Secretly Sentenced to Four Years in Prison by Jiaozhou Court in Qingdao City
2011-09-27Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Zongquan was arrested by the police on March 30th, 2011. Jiaozhou Court of Qingdao City recently secretly sentenced him to four years in prison. His family still doesn’t know where he is. His family went to the Jiaozhou Detention Centre numerous times demanding to see him, but each time they were turned away. When his wife asked where Mr. Yang was being detained, the answer was, “We don’t know.” -
Mr. Zhao Ziliang and Ms. Liu Yanmei from Yinan County, Shandong Province, Arrested
2011-09-27Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhao Ziliang and Ms. Liu Yanmei were arrested by agents from the Yinan County 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) on September 8th. Mr. Zhao was taken to the Linyi City Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Liu’s whereabouts are unknown. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Ms. Liu has been arrested multiple times for not giving up the practice. To force her to “transform,” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] CCP agents had arrested her twice, held her in a forced labour camp and beat her. -
Ms. Zhao Guirong Sentenced to Seven-Year Prison Term for Practising Falun Gong
2011-09-26Since China began its suppression of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Guirong's home has been repeatedly ransacked, and she has been repeatedly arrested and incarcerated in both forced labour camps and prisons. For handing out free materials containing important facts about Falun Gong and about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) she was sentenced to a seven-year prison term by Balinyouqi People’s Court in Inner Mongolia in June 2010. She is now incarcerated in Hohhot No. 1 Women’s Prison in Inner Mongolia. -
Mr. Zhao Chunlei from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, Arrested
2011-09-26At lunch break on September 8th, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Chunlei was about to prepare lunch at his workplace, when he suddenly heard urgent knocking at the door of his business. Looking through a window, he saw police vehicles outside. Mr. Zhao's company is a legal business, and his honest business practices and sincerity have earned recognition and praise from his business partners. The staff immediately knew that the police had come to harass them, so no one responded to the knocks. The police called for a locksmith and had the door opened. About ten police officers rushed in and sprayed hot pepper spray into the eyes of the employees, who were immediately in great distress. Mr. Zhao stood up to stop the police's evil deeds, and four officers ganged up to hold him down. Mr. Zhao and two other employees were arrested. -
Ms. Huang Duohong from Hunan Arrested While Visiting a Friend
2011-09-24In August 2011, Ms. Huang Duohong went to visit a friend in Changsha and was arrested by local police. She has lost her personal freedom and been held for over 20 days. Ms. Huang is in her thirties. After the suppression of Falun Gong began in July 1999, she was sent to Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou, where she was tortured. In September 2002 she was singled out for brutal "transformation," [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] for refusing to renounce her faith. Drug addicts stuffed her mouth with dish rags, viciously slapped her face, and kicked her lower body. -
Mr. Gu Huaibing and Six Other Practitioners from Sichuan Province Sentenced to Prison Terms
2011-09-23The Wuhou District Court in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, tried seven practitioners on August 26th. Mr. Gu Huaibing was sentenced to seven years in prison; Mr. Zhou Yaping, two years and four months; Mr. Liao Jianfu, two and a half years; Mr. Zhao Haiping, Mr. Wang Hongbo, Mr. Wang Jianguo, and Ms. Li Xiaoyan were sentenced to three years in prison. The seven practitioners stated that practising Falun Gong is not a crime. They declared their intention to appeal to a higher court. The seven practitioners stated that they were interrogated with physical punishment. Their attorney reasonably refuted and disproved all the evidence provided by the prosecutor and exposed the false evidence fabricated by the police. However, judge Huang Yi sentenced them regardless. -
Mr. Wang Zhenhui Arrested in Haicheng, Liaoning Province
2011-09-23While Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tian Baowei was being subjected to a trial in a Haicheng court on August 26th, Chinese Communist Party police arrested other practitioners outside the court, including Mr. Wang Zhenhui. Mr. Wang's home was subsequently ransacked. His Falun Gong books and personal property were confiscated, including his son’s computer. Currently, Mr. Wang is being held at the Haicheng Detention Centre. His family and friends are extremely concerned about his condition. -
Tianjin Architect Ms. Li Yanxia Sentenced to Four-Year Prison Term
2011-09-22On January 13th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Yanxia was arrested by officers from Tanggu Domestic Security Division and taken to a detention centre where she was detained for six months. Without informing her family, the court sentenced her to four years in prison. This is the second time she has been sentenced. In 2001, Ms. Li was arrested and sent to prison for two and a half years. She held a hunger strike in prison to protest the persecution and was force-fed by several convicts. She nearly died from suffocation. She was tortured by being made to sit on a stool and stand facing a wall for long periods of time, and listen to and watch propaganda defaming Falun Gong. -
Yueyang City Practitioners Ms. Cao Meilan and Ms. Cao Xianghui Arrested
2011-09-22Ms. Cao Meilan, a Falun Gong practitioner and her sister Ms. Cao Xianghui were arrested by the local police on February 24th, and their home was ransacked. Ms. Cao Meilan was arrested again on June 19th and sent to a brainwashing centre. Junshan District 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) stopped their pension payments. -
Cao Dong's Extended Sentence Is About to Expire; the Communist Party Is Threatening to Send Him to a Brainwashing Centre
2011-09-21On May 21st, 2006, Mr. Cao Dong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, met with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice-President of the European Parliament, who was visiting China to investigate the allegations that the CCP was extracting organs from Falun Gong practitioners while they were still alive. Two hours after the meeting, Mr. Cao was arrested by officers from the Public Security Bureau in Beijing. Mr. Cao, whose sentence was extended by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is set for release on September 28th. However, Tianshui Prison in Gansu Province has boldly stated that if Mr. Cao is unwilling to be “transformed”—to give up practising Falun Gong—he will be transferred to the local brainwashing centre when he leaves prison.
