Report from a Bulgarian Media Website about the Chinese Consulate forcing the Cancellation of Artist Zhang Cuiyings Exhibition
2003-10-23World famous artist Zhang Cuiying was not able to hold her scheduled painting exhibition at the Bulgarian Parliament. Even though invitations had been sent out ten days beforehand, the exhibition was cancelled to satisfy objections from the Chinese Consulate. The reason for this was not that there were problems with the paintings themselves, but because the artist had been brutally tortured whilst detained in a labour camp in China and is now considered a dissident by the Chinese government. -
