• Suizhou City Officials Falsely Blame Falun Gong Practitioners When Unemployed Workers Strike After Failed Appeals to Higher Authorities

  The Tieshu Group textile factory in Suizhou City once employed a few thousand workers, but has now gone bankrupt due to corrupt dealings between the factory leaders and the local government officials. In order to be able to support themselves, many jobless workers appealed to higher authorities on several occasions with no result. Finally, the unemployed workers protested by blocking the local railways. Information circulating among the workers said that Mayor Wu Chao was falsely telling the higher authorities that the railway blockings were caused by Falun Gong practitioners. Twenty of them were falsely arrested for allegedly practising Falun Gong and taken to the Hubei Province Denglin Farm (a jail), where the police did not allow visits from their family members.

  On December 18, 2003, Dehui resident Sun Ke spoke out about the injustice done towards his younger brother, Falun Gong practitioner Sun Qian, who was detained and beaten by police in front of the Dehui City Court. As a consequence of Sun Ke's complaint, the police forged a document to frame him, and he was sentenced to one year of "reeducation" in a forced labour camp. In the labour camp Mr. Sun is suffering harsh injustices.

The report only showed Xu Guilan taking the books out of the drawer, without playing any sound. Only the reporter was making a comment. Ms. Xu went to the police station and asked them why they made all this up. None of the police dared to say one word.

  On June 26 2003, there was a series of murder cases of beggars using poison in Cangnan Town, Wenzhou, Zhejiang. After media reported high-ranking officials including the Public Security Minister Zhou Yongkang and the Provincial Officials in Zhejiang gave instructions to these cases, on July 2, Xinhua News Agency carried an article by Lu Jin in which this case was said to be "done with an investigation" and it was "suspected that it was a Falun Gong follower." Our findings showed that this case may well be another excuse made up at the order of high ranking officials in the Public Security Ministry to try to justify the persecution of Falun Gong.
