• 300 Practitioners Arrested, 30 Detained in a Forced Labour Camp, 2000 Yuan Extorted from Each

  Sun Jinbo and Wang Fucai, directors of the 610 Office, have given orders to ransack and arrest Falun Gong practitioners. Their slogan was, "Arrest 300 practitioners, detain 30 in a forced labour camp, and extort 2,000 yuan from each one." Simultaneously, they told the public by TV propaganda to report practitioners to the police, and they could receive 200 to 1,000 yuan for reporting each practitioner. During the Olympic Games, nearly 100 practitioners were arrested, 13 were put in forced labour camps, and over 30 were detained in a brainwashing centre.

• Friends and Family Arrested While Practitioners on Trial in Heilongjiang Province

  On November 28th, 2008, four practitioners were tried in Xi'an District Court in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. The use of cruel torture was revealed to the court. One of the ways Mr. Li Yongsheng was tortured by domestic security officer Peng Fuming was "Tying the ropes". Mr. Li was also brutally beaten. The Court did not allow spectators to sit in the courtroom for this public trial, and guards chased away all the families who were waiting outside the court. Officers from Domestic Security ordered several dozen police officers to arrest the families and fellow practitioners of the defendants. At least 37 people that were outside the courtroom have gone missing. Some have been taken to a detention centre.

• Please Help Free My Mother, Ms. Ma Lingxian

  The Chinese Communist Party began its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. As a result, my mother, Ms. Ma Lingxian, was subpoenaed twice, fined three times, her salary reduced, her promotions were cancelled twice, detained three times, and her home was ransacked seven times. She was sent to the Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp and was harassed numerous times by officials. All this took its toll on both my mother's psyche and our family's finances. On July 19th, 2008, my mother attended her first class reunion in 30 years in Xichang City. She was arrested again after only two days. The reason was that during the Olympics, the local government had to keep "sensitive" individuals under surveillance to prevent any public appeals.

• Ms. Wang Haitian is Arrested in Luanda County, Hebei Province

  On November 23rd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Haitian and another practitioner went to Madamiao Village to distribute Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. They were reported to the village committee and police. Approximately four or five police officers arrested the two practitioners. Ms. Wang and another practitioner were taken to an office of the County Domestic Security Division. Police asked Yin Yulan, the deputy director of the county 610 Office, to come to torture them. The police claim that on November 23rd, 2008, they took Ms. Wang to another place, but no information or details were available.

• Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Personnel from Fuping County, Baoding City, Persecute Three Older Practitioners Prior to the Olympics

  On July 11th, 2008, 57-year-old Elementary School teacher Yang Shengli and retired teacher Sun Mingrong 58, a couple, were getting ready to go to their son's wedding. In the evening, over 20 policemen together with some people from the Datai County government stormed into their home, confiscated their property and arrested them. Sun Mingrong was imprisoned in a forced labour camp for three months and was injected with unknown drugs. After the injection Sun could not recall what happened afterwards. Arriving at the forced labour camp Sun regained consciousness but was not able to walk. Yang Shengli was imprisoned in a detention centre for two weeks and was then sent to the County Hospital under house arrest. On September 1st, Yang was released but is still being monitored.

• Ms. Zhang Hejun Severely Tortured: Feet Fractured, Fingers Burned, Force-fed Hot Peppers

  On April 11th, 2008, I was arrested by police officers. They were afraid that I would escape so they broke my right foot. When I arrived at the National Security Division office, four strong men stripped me of my clothes and handcuffed my hands to the back of a chair. They force-fed me something that immediately made my lips swell and become numb. To prevent me from crying out, they covered my mouth with a rag. Then, they force-fed me chilli pepper powder, red flower oil (burning herb extract), boiling water, and inserted dirty water through my nose. They also used toothpicks to put chilli pepper powder up my nose, which hurt very badly. I was in so much pain and could hardly breath, then these four men grabbed my legs, two men on each side and pulled them apart.

• Young Mother Detained at the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp, Now Reduced to Skin and Bones

  The 610 Office in Lechang City ransacked 30-year-old practitioner Ms. Gong Xuejun's house and forcibly took her to Lechang Detention Centre on August 19th, 2008. Later, Ms. Gong Xuejun was taken to the Sanshui Women's Forced Labour Camp. When her relatives visited Ms. Gong in the camp they could hardly recognize her. Because Gong Xuejun had been tortured, her weight had dropped from 49kg to 30kg (approximately 108 lbs to 66 lbs) within one month. She was nothing but skin and bones. Her eyes were sunken and her hair had been cut short and was in disarray. Upon seeing her shocking condition, Ms. Gong's relatives were in tears.

• Shuangyashan City Court Plans to Sentence Older Practitioners Ms. Wang Yaojun and Ms. Guo Shuzhen

  The Jianshan District Court in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, plans to sentence Ms. Wang Yaojun and Ms. Guo Shuzhen, both over 60, on November 26th, 2008. In Shuangshan Police Station, officers tried to coerce Ms. Wang Yaojun into writing a statement to give up Falun Gong, but she refused. She was then handcuffed and shackled with over 40 pounds of chains. She was tortured into giving confessions for three days and two nights. Her eyes were battered and turned black. In addition, on November 18th, Ms. Guo's daughter and eight other Falun Gong practitioners were sentenced by the Baoqing County Court in Shuangyashan City.

• Ms. Zhao Yabin from Tangshan City Sentenced to Seven Years' Imprisonment

  In July 2008, 46-year-old Ms. Zhao Yabin was arrested by police in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. The police also searched her home. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel fabricated interrogation transcripts and a list of confiscated items for the purpose of framing Ms. Zhao. Ms. Zhao was recently sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, and she is currently being detained in the Tangshan First Detention Centre.

• Qi Changrong, Song Hongcui and Bai Hong from Tanggu District, Tianjin City Sentenced to Prison

  On August 10th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners, Qi Changrong, Song Hongcui and Bai Hong were secretly sentenced after having been detained in a detention centre for seven months. Qi Changrong was sentenced to five years of imprisonment, and Song Hongcui and Bai Hong were both sentenced to three years. They have now been transferred to Tianjin No. 2 Prison. Their relatives never received any notification from either the Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, court or prison, nor have they ever received any information of legal procedures against any of the practitioners. As of today, their relatives are still not allowed to meet with them.

• Call for Rescuing Mr. Lei Anxiang, Who Was Sentenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

  On May 10th, 2008, police searched Mr. Lu Jiabin's apartment and arrested him. Mr. Lei Anxing was also arrested because he happened to go to the apartment to get tools at that time. Mr. Lei was detained in the Chenzhou Detention Centre. The police took the Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution he carried with him as "criminal evidence." He was sentenced to three years in prison. In 2004, Mr. Lei Anxiang was arrested and taken to the Huadu Forced Labour Camp. He endured three months of brutal brainwashing. The guards ordered detainees to stab his body with large steel needles. They forced Mr. Lei to kneel down and placed a bamboo stick on his shins. Several people took turns stepping on the stick and rolling it, which caused them to bleed.

• Weining Forced Labour Camp in Benxi City, Liaoning Province Uses the "Stretching Bed" to Torture Falun Gong Practitioners

  Weining Forced Labour Camp uses "stretching beds" to force practitioners into giving up their beliefs. First, the guards take off the practitioner's clothes, and then they tie their limbs onto a specially-designed double bed using strips of cloth, with the legs split to the extreme, and both arms stretched out on either side. In this way, the whole body is immobilized, with only the head and neck being able to move a little. The practitioners are also not allowed to get up to relieve themselves. All urination and defecation occur on the bed. The practitioners are bound onto this bed around the clock for more than a month at a time, causing severe damage to their tendons and muscles. The unbearable pain sometimes brings about mental collapse.

• 610 Office in Suizhou City Continues to Harass and Extort Money from Ms. Qiu Lilan

  On November 4th, 2008, manager Wu, who is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners at the Mother and Childcare Hospital went to talk to practitioner Ms. Qiu Lilan, a retired doctor from the same hospital. Ms. Qiu explained to him that due to the long term persecution that she suffered at the hands of the local 610 Office, her health had slowly deteriorated, forcing her to undergo surgery in September 2008. As a result, she was living at her relative's home so she could get the personal care she needed. When the local "610 Office" found about this, they went to Ms. Qiu's hospital work unit and extorted several thousand yuan from them. They also took away Ms. Qiu's November retirement pension of more than 1000 yuan, leaving her with only 300 yuan to live on.

• Daughter Sentenced, Mother Suffers Brutal Persecution for Making Appeal

  Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qiu Yuxia was recently sentenced to three years in prison by the Jiamusi Middle Court, and she is now imprisoned in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. Ms. Qiu was arrested by the Jiamusi 610 Office and the Jiamusi City National Security Team on July 2nd, 2008, while she was hiring a lawyer to make an appeal for her imprisoned daughter Ms. Ma Duo, who is also a practitioner. Ms. Qiu Yuxia is being tortured during her incarceration. Ms. Qiu was also imprisoned in the Jiamusi City Forced Labour Camp for three years. She was hung above the ground with her hands cuffed behind her back. As a result of this torture, she lost feeling in her hands and was almost permanently disabled.
