  • Mr. Meng Qingfu Dies After Years of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Meng Qingfu, a former government official, was arrested, severely tortured, and sentenced. Due to the persecution he was subjected to at the Jidong Prison, his vision declined to the point where he couldn't see things clearly and he walked with much difficulty, not being able to straighten his back. After being released from prison, he was only paid the bare minimum pension each month. Mr. Meng eventually passed away on March 22nd, 2013, at age 57.
  • Mr. Yang Zhenlu Dies After Being Tortured in Jidong Prison

    The Chinese communist regime arrested large numbers of Falun Gong practitioners before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to keep them from revealing the gruesome details of the persecution to foreign visitors, including Mr. Yang Zhenlu and his wife. Mr. Yang was sentenced to six years in prison and he was severely tortured in Jidong Prison. On March 1st, 2013, when he was on the verge of death, he was granted medical bail. This common practice is routinely used by the prisons to avoid criminal investigation into inmate deaths resulting from prison abuse. Mr. Yang passed away on June 7th, at the age of 57, from the mistreatment he endured in the prison.
  • Mr. Li Baishun and His Teenage Daughter Killed in Police Custody in Jinzhou City, His Wife and Sons Unjustly Imprisoned

    Mr. Li Baishun, in his 50s, was handing out materials to inform people about the persecution of Falun Gong, when he was arrested by police in November 2011. He was taken to the Zhengda Police Station where officers demanded he tell them the source of the materials. They used torture to try to extort a confession, and Mr. Li was tortured to death that night. The relevant departments of Jinzhou City secretly hid this information. Jinzhou City police subsequently sentenced Mr. Li's wife and two sons to lengthy imprisonment. After which, the mother and brothers learned that Mr. Li's 13-year-old adopted daughter had also died in the custody of the Jinzhou City police.
  • Ms. Wang Zhenxiu Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison, Her Brother and Husband Dead After Torture and Abuse

    Ms. Wang Zhenxiu is a Falun Gong practitioner from Zibo City, Shandong Province. Since the Chinese communist regime began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, she and her family have been repeatedly imprisoned and tortured for their peaceful belief. Most recently, after being arrested and held in the Zibo Detention Centre for nearly a year, Ms. Wang was sentenced to seven years in prison. Her husband, Mr. Wang Jingkui, was sent to a forced labour camp twice and later died as a direct result of the torture and abuse he suffered there. Ms. Wang's brother, Mr. Wang Xinbo, was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Prison authorities sent him home in January 2006, on the verge of death as a result of torture. He died on February 10th, 2007.
  • Kidney Transplant Patient Believes He Received a Falun Gong Practitioner's Organ

    A reliable source in China reported the following story to the Minghui website. A Falun Gong practitioner's husband's friend received a kidney transplant in 2004. He lives in a town near Beijing. When news of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) practice of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners became public, the practitioner asked her husband's friend, “Do you know where your kidney came from?” He said, “Yes, I know. It was from a Falun Gong practitioner, a twenty three year-old young man.”
  • Ms. Lin Shaona Passes Away After being Mistreated in Prison and Denied Medical Parole

    Ms. Lin Shaona was arrested on September 2nd, 2009 for telling people the truth about Falun Gong. Although the judge acknowledged her innocence at her trial, she was nonetheless sentenced to three years in prison at the end of September. She was incarcerated in the Guangdong Province Women's Prison. Her family was notified on February 10th, 2010, that she had breast cancer, and she remained incarcerated after surgery for two more years. When her health condition deteriorated, the prison officials released her to avoid any responsibility. Ms. Lin was unable to recover and passed away on June 26th, 2013.
  • Father Killed by Police, Son Arrested for Seeking Justice

    Mr. Li Zhiqin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hebei Province, was arrested in 2007 by police. They beat him to death only three hours after his arrest. For years, his family appealed to various governmental departments in order to seek justice for Mr. Li. However, none of the agencies were willing to investigate the case. On July 5th, 2013, the family again appealed to the Hebei Provincial Higher Court, requesting compensation for Mr. Li's death. Three days later, on July 8th, his son and the wife and daughter of a witness were arrested by police.
  • Spanish Attorney Speaks at Falun Gong Rally, Advocates Stricter Laws on Organ Tourism

    On July 20th, Falun Gong practitioners and human right activists from 27 European countries held a rally in front of City Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, condemning the 14-year long persecution of Falun Gong in China. Mr. Carlos Iglesias, a lawyer from Spain, spoke at the rally about a Spanish law that prevents Spanish citizens from getting organ transplants in China.
  • Ms. Liang Xiaoguang Dies in Siping Detention Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Xiaoguang was arrested and sentenced to prison six years ago. On November 23rd, 2012, her family suddenly received a notification from Siping Detention Centre in Liaoning Province, claiming that she had died from “lung cancer” and her body had already been taken to the crematory. Ms. Liang had been sentenced to forced labour twice before. The first time, she was taken to Heizuizi Labour Camp in 2000 until 2002. The second time, she was arrested while distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in 2006, and was later taken to the same labour camp until 2008.
  • Dead Falun Gong Practitioners Sent to Hospitals as Police Attempt to Cover Up Crimes

    Mr. Li Jian, an attorney from Zhengyang County, died in 2002 after enduring many months of torture, sleep deprivation, and slave labour in the Xuchang Forced Labour Camp. On April 26th, 2002, he experienced trouble breathing. He died two hours later. The guards took his lifeless body to a hospital that day. They ordered the hospital to perform standard resuscitation procedures, in order to fabricate evidence that Mr. Li had died at the hospital.
  • Mr. Yang Zhonggeng Tortured to Death in Henan Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Zhonggeng, 38, was arrested by police at a post office on June 23rd, 2013. Mr. Yang was beaten and tortured while in police custody until he was on the verge of death. He was then transferred to the Lingbao Detention Centre. He passed away on June 28th, just five days after the arrest. Mr. Yang had also been arrested for his belief in Falun Gong in December 2000 in Rushan City. He suffered inhumane torture—including being shocked with high-voltage electric batons and injected with unknown drugs—while in police custody and detention.
  • Sixty-Three-Year-Old Ms. Yin Guizhi Dies after Enduring Prolonged Torture at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Yin Guizhi passed away on May 30th, 2013. She was 63. She had been tortured and abused to the brink of death in the notorious Masanjia Labour Camp, and was released on medical parole so that she could recover from the brutalities she suffered in the labour camp. Camp officials continued to harass her, however, and she soon passed away. The reason for the harassment? Her faith in Falun Gong, a peaceful cultivation practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
  • Ms. Wang Wuhui, 61, Died of Kidney Failure after Being Tortured

    Ms. Wang Wuhui, 61, died of torture injuries on December 24th, 2012. Because she refused to renounce her faith in Falun Gong, Ms. Wang was repeatedly arrested, imprisoned, and tortured in Hunan Women's Prison before she died. She was shocked with electric batons. She was beaten. She was kept in an isolated cell. She was made to stand in the sun for long hours. She was made to sit on a small stool or stand still for long hours. She was deprived of sleep. She was not allowed any visitors. She was made to work as a slave. She was even suspended by handcuff until her shoulders were dislocated and her wrists were torn. A total of seven years in prison resulted in a severe toll on her health.
  • Torture Methods Used to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners in Henan No. 3 Forced Labour Camp (Part 1)

    Many Falun Gong practitioners detained in Henan No. 3 Forced Labour Camp suffered from this torture called “up on the rope”. Both hands are tied to the back with a thin but tough nylon rope and then lifted up. It causes unbearable pain. This torture lasts about half an hour each time, with the rope being periodically tightened and then loosened. Each round of torture lasts about 30 minutes. If the victim does not scream, the perpetrators insert bottles or bricks to increase the pain.
  • Ms. Liu Xinlan, 58, from Hubei Province Dies As a Result of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Xinlan died on January 13th, 2013, at the age of 58, due to harassment and persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The Ezhou 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) constantly had Ms. Liu monitored, including her phone calls. She was arrested many times and taken to brainwashing centres, detention centres, and forced labour camps. Officials also came to her home and harassed her frequently. In December 2012, Ms. Liu did not have money to buy warm clothes for the winter. She caught a cold and developed pneumonia. She was hospitalized in January 2013 and died shortly after.
