Oil painting “An Unnecessary Death” by young artist Vim van Aalst won the “Painting of the Year” contest in Belgium for 2013. “An Unnecessary Death” depicts a grief-stricken mother of a Falun Gong practitioner holding her daughter.

The story, titled “Very Worried about His Friend,” started with Mr. Guo Jefeng's new life in Germany, where, unlike in China, he can enjoy great freedom. But he was very worried about his friend back in China, who shares his belief and is still subject to the torture and suppression he once experienced.

A screening of the award-winning documentary, Free China: The Courage to Believe, was held at the Cinema Massimo in the National Film Museum in Turin, Italy. The 150-seat auditorium was filled to capacity.
