United States: President Bush Signs New Legislation That Denies Entry to Those Who Have Engaged in Torture

On December 17th, 2004, United States President George W. Bush signed into law the Anti-Atrocity Alien Deportation Act in Washington, D.C. The act authorises the Justice Department to track down foreigners who have engaged in war crimes, torture, genocide, religious persecution, or other human rights violations. These foreigners will face denial of entry or deportation. -

Health of U.S. Citizen Charles Lee Deteriorates from Being Forced to Sit Motionless for Long Periods of Time
2004-12-25On December 21st, 2004, it was reported that the health of Charles Lee, a U.S. citizen and Falun Gong practitioner illegally detained in Nanjing Prison, has recently deteriorated dramatically, and he has developed symptoms of shortness of breath. The prison authorities are currently monitoring his heart. To find out about Charles' situation, the reporter interviewed his fiancée, Yeong-Ching Foo. Indonesia: Jakarta Practitioners Hold Anti-torture Exhibition and Expose the Truth to Chinese Embassy Staff

On December 10th, International Human Rights Day, Jakarta practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition with actors and posters on the spacious sidewalk across the street from the Chinese Embassy. The purpose of the event was to expose the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin's group and the Chinese Communist Party. -
Taiwan: A Hundred Falun Gong Practitioners Demonstrate the Exercises at a Sports Meet in Dongguang Elementary School

On November the 19th 2004, more than a hundred Falun Gong practitioners took part in the sports meet held by Dongguang Elementary School in Tainan City and demonstrated the five Falun Gong exercises. As the sports meet was held during the evening, Falun Gong practitioners placed handmade lotus lanterns around them while demonstrating the exercises. -

The lawsuit has been supported by 16 victims and was signed in the presence of, Mrs. Dai Zhizhen, whose husband was tortured to death at the young age of 34, leaving his recently born daughter without a father. -

On December 18th and 19th, 2004, the annual Tomato Cultural Festival was held in Luzhu, Kaohsiung County. In order to let more people learn about Falun Dafa, Kaohsiung practitioners participated in the event. Crowds surrounded the site and the county-head also came to encourage the practitioners. -

United States: The Lotus Flower Lamp In the Rain

The Falun Gong procession made a beautiful impression on the spectators in the rain. The largest newspaper of Salem, the Statesman's Journal, published a report the next day. The article had a picture and introduced the Falun Dafa dancers. It also reported that the Falun Gong entry won the "Best Costume Award." -
Central News Agency (Taiwan): Falun Gong Practitioners Sue Chinese Officials, French Court Asks for Assistance from Chinese Judiciary
2004-12-21On December 17, the Central News Agency reported significant progress in the lawsuit against former Chinese Vice Premier, Li Lanqing. The plaintiffs' lawyer, Mr. William Bourdon, stated that a French court had asked the Chinese judiciary to assist in the investigation. Under a mutual assistance agreement between the Chinese and French judiciaries, the Chinese government cannot, in theory, ignore the request. This is the first case in which a European court has asked the Chinese judiciary for assistance.
