The persecution against Dr. Lee has escalated this month despite numerous protests from the U. S. state department over China's violation of Dr. Lee's basic human rights. Friends and family of Dr. Lee are calling on the U.S. government as well as the public to lend stronger support to protect the basic rights of an American citizen, and they are calling on China to stop persecuting people for their beliefs and release Dr. Lee immediately. -
China: US Consulate Official Says China's Public Security Official Is Attempting to Force Charles Li to Admit He Committed a Crime
2003-11-15US citizen Charles Li has been illegally detained for 10 months now. Recently, Yeongching Foo, Charles' fiancée, talked to the US consulate in Shanghai and learnt that the Chinese government's persecution against Charles has gotten worse. The US consulate told Yeongching Foo that Charles is now being dragged to the brainwashing sessions every day in addition to being visited every day by Shao Gong, an official of the Public Security Bureau of China. Shao Gong tries to brainwash Charles and is trying to force Charles to admit guilt.
