Taiwan: Undaunted by Typhoon, Bicycle Tour Visits Hualien County and Gains Support from Local Residents and Government Officials

The bicycle tour around the island to "Stop China from Trampling Upon Taiwan's Human Rights" set off from Taipei on October 28, 2003. The tour travelled to Hualien County in eastern Taiwan on November 2. Typhoon Miller suddenly attacked the island, and the fine weather immediately changed to its opposite. Disregarding the rain and wind, Falun Dafa practitioners persistently and continuously conducted a series of truth clarification activities. -

We also visited city offices, Members of Parliament in their offices as well as Provincial officials. Our global rescue efforts caught the attention of the government officials and reporters that we met. 2003-11-03According to Clearwisdom reports, in order to make Falun Dafa practitioners give in, police in Jilin City Prison perpetrated numerous cruel tortures, including brutal beatings, sleep deprivation, tying people to their beds, etc. In order to try to force Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Hongwei to give up his faith, police tied him to a bed for 58 days. Police also deprived Falun Dafa practitioner Zheng Weidong of sleep for over 7 days. -
