  • Song Zhiyu Arrested and Taken to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; His Wife and Friend Detained for Helping Him

    Mr. Song Zhiyu, a Falun Gong practitioner, was detained by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for two years. He had only been released for three months when he was arrested again in December 2010 while staying in a hotel in Beijing on a business trip. Then he was taken to Hailar in Inner Mongolia. He was tried on April 14th and again in mid-May 2011. Song Zhiyu's wife is Zhang Hong. Just after the couple registered to be married, he was arrested and their wedding ceremony had to be cancelled. Zhang Hong was also arrested and is in the Hailar Detention Station.
  • Assistant Professor at Hunan Finance Institute Detained for Over 50 Days, Eight Others Arrested

    On April 28th, police broke into over 60-year-old Ms. Xiong Xiaolan's home. Xiong was taken away, along with her eight guests. The nine were arrested because they practise Falun Gong. Although no legal procedures were followed, Gao Desi, Xiong Xiaolan, and the rest were sent to a brainwashing centre run by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Each practitioner was confined in a small room about 10 sq. metres. The practitioners lost their personal freedom. Meals had to be sent in by their monitors. They were not allowed to leave their rooms or do the Falun Gong exercises in the room.
  • Two Practitioners Detained and Sentenced for Putting Up Posters

    On June 14th, the court held a trial in which Mr. Zhang Jianping and Mr. Wei Xiang, were prosecuted for putting up several Falun Gong posters in the West Lake District on November 28th, 2010. When the practitioners were detained they were not allowed to meet with their families. Their homes were ransacked, and their Falun Gong books were confiscated. They were also detained because they accessed the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom), and downloaded and printed materials for distribution that detailed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
  • A Mother's Cry for Justice

    My son Zhou Xiangyang was sentenced to nine years in prison because he believes in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and wants to be a good person. He is imprisoned at Gangbei Prison in Tianjin, where he was tortured with electric batons, beaten, had poured cold water over him, endured a torture method called “Solitary Room and Ground Anchor," and more. He was in critical condition several times. On July 28th, 2009, officials from Gangbei Prison told me to pick him up from prison, because he was released on medical parole. Before he could completely recover, they arrested him again at home and took him back to Gangbei Prison on March 5th, 2011. Currently, he is extremely weak, has lumps in his abdomen, chest pain, hematuria, and other ailments.
  • Ms. Zheng Dongying Imprisoned in Brainwashing Centre, Home Ransacked

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Dongying related the facts about the persecution of her niece Ms. Wang Yujie to Hu Yuxiong. Ms. Wang was persecuted only because she practised Falun Gong. Hu reported Ms. Zheng to the authorities. Officials arrested Ms. Zheng on October 14th, 2010, then tortured her in the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Zheng's family members have not seen her since that time. Recently, the police broke into Ms. Zheng's home and ransacked her house.
  • Ms. Guo Feng Persecuted in Dabei Women’s Prison; Father Dies of Grief

    Ms. Guo Feng, 30, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Between February and March 2009, she was tracked by the communist regime's Internet police and subsequently arrested. The authorities held a secret trial and gave her three years of imprisonment without following any legal procedures. In late September 2009, Ms. Guo was sent to the Dabei Women’s Prison in Shenyang City. After Ms. Guo's arrest, her parents both became very ill from the stress of the persecution. Soon after Ms. Guo was sent to the prison, her grieving father passed away.
  • Wu Suqin from Jiyuan City, Henan Province Tortured in Detention Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Suqin was arrested in June 2010 and detained in Jiyuan City Detention Centre. That October she was detained in Xiaolangdi Brainwashing Centre for almost five months. She had been arrested and detained at the Jiyuan Detention Centre the previous year, and was tortured and made to perform forced labour, making medicine boxes used in hospitals. She could not complete the extra work, so a guard commanded prisoners to put heavy shackles on her and forced her to walk three rounds in the yard. As a result, her feet were ripped up, covered with blood and the flesh torn. Her legs were swollen and she could barely walk. The guard also used an electric baton to repeatedly shock her in seven or eight rounds.
  • Police Shoot Practitioner Mr. Feng Kui from Changchun

    Four Falun Gong practitioners from Changchun were arrested on June 5th and sent to detention centres. Ms. Song and Mr. Yang were first arrested on June 5th. Witnesses stated they saw a woman being dragged into a police vehicle. Mr. Feng Kui was arrested as he went searching for his wife. At that time, he held a flyer he'd received at a market and followed the police vehicle. Upon being sighted by police, he was immediately surrounded. He managed to break free but was captured in a dead end lane. During the ensuing chase, police shot him as he ran and he fell. As he lay in the middle of the road, his ears, face, and neck were covered in blood.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Zhou Chunzi Arrested, Her Whereabouts Unknown

    Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Chunzi returned to Nanjing on May 5th after visiting her parents in Jiangning. Right around this time, she was arrested by police officer Xiao Ningjian from Nanjing National Security Team. Xiao Ningjian called Ms. Zhou's family, claiming to need help from Zhou Chunzi in investigating a case, and promising that she would be back in a few days. He asked the family to keep it a secret. Over a month has passed and Zhou has still not returned home, and her family doesn't know her whereabouts.
  • Practitioner Ms. Liu Yujing Arrested by Officers from Shixhong District Branch of Jinan Police Department

    On November 16th, 2010, officers from the Shizhong District branch of the Jinan City Police Department in Shandong Province arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yujing at home. She was detained and put on trial at the Shizhong District Court on May 6th. Her husband and her daughter, Ms. Tian Guangqing, were not allowed inside the courtroom. When Ms. Tian attempted to file a letter of complaint about the arrest, detention, and trial of her mother, Zhang Jisheng, chief of the Accusation Appeals Office of the Procuratorate, refused to accept it, saying that an “internal document” prohibited the office from accepting cases related to Falun Gong practitioners.
  • Guo Huiqiang Injected with Unknown Drugs at Baoding Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Guo Huiqiang was arrested in 2001 and sent to the Baoding Forced Labour Camp. He was subjected to brutal torture during his detention. Guards beat him with the soles of leather shoes and with plastic pipes, and forced him to bend over, then pulled his hands up high from between his legs. He was forced to hold this posture without moving for long periods of time and was beaten if he moved. The guards also forced him to do dirty and tiring hard labour, and took turns shocking him with electric batons. Mr. Guo was also forcibly injected with an unknown drug, which caused him to become psychologically unbalanced.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Du Juan Dies after Being Persecuted in Beijing Women's Prison; Officials Refused to Release Her for Medical Treatment

    Mr. Du Juan developed cancer while being persecuted at the Beijing Women's Prison. It quickly advanced into late-stage cancer and she was in critical condition. Her family requested she be released on medical parole many times. Prison authorities refused to release her using various excuses. Ms. Du died in a hospital near the prison on the afternoon of June 14th. She has left behind her mentally retarded son and her nearly 90-year-old father.
  • Over 300 Villagers Petition for Release of Liu Yujing

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yujing was arrested in her home by police on November 16th, 2010, and detained for a long period of time. She was put on trial by Shizhong District Court on May 6th. On May 31st, Ms. Liu's daughter, Tian Guangqing, arrived at Shizhong District Procuratorate in Jinan City to report the illegal acts of the Shizhong District police— Ms. Liu's arrest, detention and the ransacking of her home during the arrest. The evidence left by Tian Guangqing included a petition signed by over 300 villagers of Xinglong Village, where Ms. Liu's family lives, vouching that Ms. Liu is a good person.
  • The Persecution of Mr. Guo Xiaojun by Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai

    Because of his belief in Falun Gong, Mr. Guo was sentenced to five years in prison in 2000, and was again subjected to four years of imprisonment in 2010. He is currently being detained at the Tilanqiao Prison. Mr. Guo was diagnosed with retinal artery problems while being detained at the Tilanqiao Prison. His condition has recently become worse. The prison officials notified Mr. Guo that they would take him to the hospital for an eye exam on May 18th. When Mr. Guo was taken out of the cell the police forcibly covered his head and locked him up with heavy handcuffs and fetters, with more than a dozen armed personnel to escort him. Mr. Guo realised that the so-called medical examination was just another form of intimidation and persecution.
  • Ge Qingxi Beats Falun Gong Practitioners in Handan Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioners in Handan Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province are still being very severely persecuted. Ge Qingxi is the chief of the special administration team. When many guards were not willing to brutally beat Falun Gong practitioners, he did it himself. On September 2nd, 2010, Ge Qingxi beat Mr. Li Zhu and Mr. Cheng Wendong with a rubber police baton, causing multiple injures. In a conference, he made the remark: “Someone said the higher authorities do not allow us to beat the detainees. Then why did they give me a rubber baton?”
