Mother and Son Sent to Forced Labour Camps
2011-03-09Ms. Wu Shuzhen and Mr. Zhang Mao, mother and son, were arrested by police on the evening of December 18th, 2010. When their family members made inquiries to the local authorities as to their whereabouts, they were threatened by the officers. The family found out that they had been sent to forced labour camps. Ms. Wu was taken to Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp, and Mr. Zhang was taken to the forced labour camp on Taihua Street in Shijiazhuang. -
Blinded in One Eye from Beatings in the Datong Bureau of Mines Detention Centre, Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Lanying Grossly Abused in a Forced Labour Camp
2011-03-08Ms. Li Lanying, who worked in Datong Bureau of Mines, benefited physically and mentally after practising Falun Gong. On July 29th, 2009, the bureau posted a slanderous slogan about Falun Gong. Ms. Li went to the Bureau of Mines headquarters and exposed the persecution of Falun Gong to people near the bureau. She was arrested and held in a detention centre. While she was there, guards incited the inmates to beat and force-feed her. They beat her nearly to death. She has completely lost sight in her right eye and has only limited vision in her left eye. -
Australian Resident, Biologist Ms. Nie Xiaomei Arrested Before Chinese New Year
2011-03-08Beijing DoRun Trading Co., Ltd Chief Scientist Ms. Nie Xiaomei was arrested on February 1st, before the Chinese New Year. She is currently held in the Dongcheng District Detention Centre in Beijing. We also learned that someone placed some Falun Gong-related informational material on Ms. Nie's car. Ms. Nie picked it up and placed it on a car parked next to hers before she drove away. A security guard saw this and reported her to the police. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Nie Xiaomei, 48 years old, studied in Australia after she graduated from university in China, and is now a permanent Australian resident. Ms. Nie's family has contacted the Australian Embassy for help. -
Additional Information about the Persecution and Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Gao Jinling from Liaoyang City
2011-03-08Ms. Gao Jinling died in 2003 as a result of physical abuse during her detention. While exposing the persecution of Falun Gong when visiting her hometown in 2003, someone reported her to the police. She was arrested and police beat her badly. Without following any legal procedures, the police took Ms. Gao directly to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. However, after a physical, the labour camp officials would not accept her. The police had no choice but to take her back home. Four agents, whose names need to be confirmed, were involved in the death of Ms. Gao. -
The Chinese Authorities Persecute a Farm Wife
2011-03-08On September 15th, 2010, six domestic security division officers broke through Ms. Bai Qunfang's fence while she was planting seeds and arrested her. The officers took her to the Legal Education Centre (a brainwashing centre) in Xinjin and pressured her to give up her belief in Falun Gong. She was brainwashed, injected with unknown drugs, and tortured to the brink of death before she was sent to hospital. She was diagnosed with a cerebral haemorrhage and cerebral vascular sclerosis. On October 24th, she was discharged from the hospital because she could not pay for the medical expenses. -
Mr. Huang Cheng, 56, Dies in Liaoning Province after Years of Severe Torture
2011-03-07Mr. Huang Cheng used to have severe health problems but after practising Falun Gong, all of his sicknesses disappeared. Mr. Huang was very considerate of others and was well-liked by friends and work colleagues. However, because of the persecution of Falun Gong, from 1999 to 2010, Huang Cheng was arrested and taken into custody 15 times. During those years, he was held in police stations, detention centres,drug rehabilitation centres, brainwashing centres, forced labour camps and prisons. He suffered severe physical torture as well as financial extortion, harassment, and his home was ransacked. The Taihe District Court sentenced Mr. Huang to six years in prison in August 2008. He was mercilessly tortured. Mr. Huang died on February 24th, 2011. -
Mr. Hu Mingliang Arrested after Suing the Labour Camp Where His Daughter Ms. Hu Miaomiao Was Sexually Abused
2011-03-07Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Miaomiao, a woman in her mid-twenties, was detained at the First Section of Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shijiazhuang City for one year of forced labour. Under orders from Wang Weiwei, the section chief, several inmates tortured her. They used extremely base methods, including sexually abusing. The torture caused tremendous damage to her both physically and psychologically. Three months have passed, and Ms. Hu has still not fully recovered from the trauma. Her father, Mr. Hu Mingliang, was secretly arrested on February 24th, for suing the authorities responsible for the mistreatment of his daughter. -
Eyewitness Account: How Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Shuling Was Persecuted to Death by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
2011-03-07On July 3rd, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Shuling, 55, was tortured to death at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Heilongjiang Province. According to witnesses, Ms. Liu was placed in a metal chair and killed by shocks from electric batons. There was a ring of ecchymosis (discolouration of the skin as a result of bruising) at the back of her left ear and neck. Ms. Liu's family received notification on July 3rd from the rehabilitation centre stating that Ms. Liu died suddenly in the toilet from a heart attack. According to a detainee at the rehabilitation centre, no one was allowed to go to the toilet, and each person had a bucket in their room to relieve themselves. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Lei from Beijing Suffers Nervous Breakdown As a Result of Persecution
2011-03-07Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Lei has been relentlessly persecuted by the local police and 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). She was arrested nine times. Her mental problems relapsed upon her arrest in October 2010. She was recently released. Her mental problems stem from the extreme trauma she suffered when she was arrested during the 2008 Olympics. Ms. Liu Shuxian and Ms. Wang Haiyan, mother and daughter practitioners, who were arrested the same day as Ms. Wang Lei, were each sentenced to two and a half years of forced labour. -
Seven-year-old Daughter of Falun Gong Practitioners Suffers Miserable Childhood Due to Persecution of Parents by Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
2011-03-06Seven-year-old Niu Qingqing, came from Beijing to New York on January 27th. Since she was born, she has been with her mother for less than two years. Both her father and her mother, Ms. Zhang Lianying, are Falun Gong practitioners. They were arrested and detained many times by police because of the persecution of Falun Gong. When her mother was arrested, Qingqing was 18 months old. Ms. Zhang was released in December 2007 and reunited with Qingqing, who was four at the time, two years after her arrest. Ms. Zhang was incarcerated in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. She suffered the “stretching torture” and guards shocked her with electric batons until her flesh was burnt. -
Elderly Falun Gong Practitioner from Dandong, Liaoning Province Persecuted
2011-03-06I am an elderly female Falun Gong practitioner from Dandong, Liaoning Province. I have been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for practising Falun Gong and suffered two years of forced labour. I was injured severely. I cannot see clearly with my left eye. I lost seven teeth and I weigh less than 90 pounds. Guards used former practitioners to try to brainwash me to renounce Falun Gong. However, the CCP's coercion cannot change my heart. I still firmly believe in Falun Gong. -
Crimes Committed by Chinese Communist Party Staff in Wanzhou District, Chongqing
2011-03-06Chinese Communist Party (CCP) staff from Chongqing have recently found a new way of deceiving Falun Gong practitioners and the world’s people, by “involving the local departments” to try and achieve their target of “transforming” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners. The benefits received by the involved units depend on whether the units achieve their “transformation” quotas or not. At the end of the year, when the higher authorities come for inspection, if they have not achieved their quota, all the employees will be punished, and won’t get their yearly bonuses. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wu Hongjun Transferred to Mudanjiang Prison
2011-03-06Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Hongjun, 43, was arrested on March 28th, 2010. District court officials sentenced him to three years of imprisonment on June 8th and then took him to Mudanjiang Prison. Previously, in Suihua Forced Labour Camp Mr. Wu was beaten by several guards every day and guards shocked him with four electric batons one evening in April 2003. Mr. Wu was deprived of sleep and forced to watch videos that defamed Falun Gong and its founder, Teacher Li Hongzhi. -
Facts about the Persecution of Two College Teachers in Beijing
2011-03-05Recently, several reports on the Clearwisdom website mentioned the persecution of Ms. Liang Bo, formerly a teacher with the School of Literature, Journalism and Communication at the Central University for Nationalities. Due to her firm belief in Falun Gong, she was arrested, detained, tortured, and put on trial. Currently, Ms. Liang Bo's condition is grave due to being seriously mistreated. Another practitioner, Ms. Zhao Xin, comes to mind. Also college teacher, she worked for the Industry and Commerce Administration University in Beijing. She was arrested in 2000 and later violently beaten until vertebrae in her neck were fractured. She died on the evening of December 11th, 2000. -
Firsthand Account of Persecution Suffered by Ms. Liu Xiuli from Harbin City
2011-03-05Because I went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise after the communist regime started to persecute Falun Gong, I was constantly harassed, monitored, arrested, and fined. I have also been held in the detention centre three times and sentenced to forced labour twice. In Wanjia Forced Labour Camp guards hung me up in the air with ropes. A guard then shocked my neck and face and behind my ears with an electric baton. She also placed the baton in my mouth to shock me. My entire body shook violently and I was in tremendous pain. My mouth was covered with purple blisters from the electric baton, and it became so swollen that I couldn't open my mouth at all.
