Guards at Hohhot Women's Forced Labour Camp Tried to Poison Ms. Song Caiping Several Times

Ms. Song Caiping, in her sixties, is a practitioner from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Guards at Hohhot Women's Forced Labour Camp have tried to poison her several times by putting unknown drugs into her drinking cup and eating bowl. She was also handcuffed and forced to stand up in the room for seven consecutive days. The guards also tried to force her to write a guarantee statement to stop practising Falun Gong. -
Ms. Fan Yumei Not Allowed to Sleep for Seven Days Straight
2010-10-02On June 25th, 2010, Ms. Fan and several other Falun Gong practitioners were telling people the facts about Falun Gong in Huairen County, when they were arrested by police. They were then sent to Chenzhuang Detention Centre in Datong later that night. At the detention centre, Ms. Fan went on a hunger strike; after about half a month, she was sent to Shanxi Province Women's Labour Camp. At the forced labour camp, authorities tried to force Ms. Fan to sign a "transformation letter" [forcibly renouncing Falun Gong] and the guards did not allow her to sleep for seven days straight. -
Five Falun Gong Practitioners from Changling Oil Refinery Subject to Persecution
2010-10-02Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wen Miaoying, 70 years old, was suddenly arrested by police in September 2005. Her family members tried to find officials who could help release her, spent more than 20,000 yuan in bribes, and wrote a Guarantee Statement to renounce practising Falun Gong on her behalf. She was sentenced to four and a half years, which was to be served outside of detention. -
Communist Officials in Baoding City, Hebei Province Intensify Relentless Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-10-01Since June 2010, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Domestic Security Division in Baoding City, Hebei Province have escalated the arrest and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Prior to each arrest, Communist Party authorities dispatched secret agents to spy on the targeted practitioners, and determined the practitioners' daily schedules. The police officers broke into practitioners' homes. They kicked in doors, pried locks open, and confiscated cash and private property. The arrests of more than 60 practitioners were confirmed in June. Most were imprisoned in a forced labour camp. More than 100 families were harassed during this period. -
Ms. Du Hongfang's Life at Risk Due to Torture in Prison; Her Husband Given Fourteen Year Sentence
2010-10-01Ms. Du Hongfang, a Falun Gong practitioner in Jilin City, is being persecuted in Jilin Province Women's Prison. Her life is at risk. In 2008, Ms. Du was sentenced to eight years in prison. During more than one year of imprisonment, she has been severely persecuted by the communist regime's police officers and she is suffering greatly. Her husband, Mr. Guo Yunqing, was sentenced to 14 years in 2007. He is now in Gongzhuling Prison. -
Ms. Yan Xiaobao Paralysed as a Result of Persecution
2010-10-01Ms. Yan Xiaobao has been repeatedly arrested, persecuted and tortured for her belief in Falun Gong. She became paralyzed as a result of the injuries sustained through long-term torture. Ms. Yan was sentenced to four years in prison in 2002. Guards handcuffed her hands behind her back and hung her up for three days and two nights. The handcuffs cut deeply into her wrists, drawing blood. Her arm ligaments were damaged as a result of the hanging, and the scars from the handcuffs are still visible today. For several days afterward, she was still in so much pain that she couldn't sleep. -
Practitioners Tortured in Lanzhou Prison
2010-10-01In July 2010, under orders from the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Lanzhou District Court sentenced practitioners Mr. Cui Yonglin, Mr. Bai Sanyuan and Mr. Zhang Tao to Lanzhou Prison, with terms of 8 years, 6 years and 7 years respectively. Prison guards tortured Mr. Cui in a confined, dark room. When inmates passed by the room, they would sometimes hear Mr. Cui screaming. Mr. Cui was tortured there until the middle of August. Mr. Zhang Tao will not renounce his belief in Falun Gong and is still being beaten and tortured in the dark room. -
Mr. Xin Yanjun Dies after Becoming Paralysed as Result of Torture While Imprisoned
2010-09-30Mr. Xin Yanjun was arrested for a fourth time for practising Falun Gong in 2002 and taken directly to Jilin City Prison for a seven-year sentence. Mr. Xin was severely tortured at the Jilin Prison. The guards attempted to freeze him to death by stripping him, forcing him to stand outside, and pouring cold water on him every time he passed out due to the cold. Mr. Xin was subjected to the "sitting board" torture for two months because he refused to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. The guards also instigated criminal inmates to beat. Mr. Xin Yanjun died on May 27th. He weighed only 90 pounds, compared to his previous weight of 170 pounds. His body was too disfigured to be viewed. -
Mr. Zhou Mofang Persecuted for Years
2010-09-30Fifty-eight-year-old Mr. Zhou Mofang was a lecturer at Yunnan Forestry Technical College who began practising Falun Gong in 1994. He refused to betray Falun Gong when the persecution began and as a result has been subjected to severe persecution for years. In May 2003, Kunming City Intermediate Court tried Mr. Zhou and sentenced him to five years imprisonment. While incarcerated he was dismissed from his job. Nonetheless several officials from the technical college still harass him regularly. Even though according to prison rules Mr. Zhou was entitled to have visits from his family once or twice a month, his family was granted only five visits in five year -
610 Office Agents in Tonghua, Jilin Province Conspire to Persecute Previously Imprisoned Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-09-30As the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) conspired to carry out the so-called "re-visit" of Falun Gong practitioners who have been released from imprisonment, all city or county 610 Office personnel began harassing and arresting these practitioners again. On September 10th, five men (one in police uniform, the others plain-clothed) stormed into Yin Guifen's home and ransacked it. They then forcefully dragged her into a vehicle, taking her directly to the brainwashing centre. Practitioner Liu Fengyan, 59 years old, had just came home from a forced labour camp and was again taken to Tonghua Brainwashing Centre in early September 2010. -
Ms. Yang Donglian and Mr. Hu Fangjin Arrested by Agents from Xinhuang County 610 Office in Hunan Province
2010-09-30Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hu Fangjin was arrested on September 1st, when he went out to fetch water. Several people had been waiting for him since the early hours. Mr. Hu has been arrested by agents from the 610 Office numerous times since the onset of the persecution in 1999, and was twice subjected to forced labour. He was beaten so severely that he had blurred vision and his legs were numb. He was dismissed from his job and had to sell water to make a living. Ms. Yang and Mr. Hu were taken to the Huaihua City Brainwashing Centre on September 11th. -
Mr. Cai Fuchen Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances in a Jilin Province Prison on or about September 16th, 2010
2010-09-29Mr. Cai Fuchen was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2004 and was held in Gongzhuling Prison until his untimely death there on or about September 16th, 2010. On May 5th, 2008, guards locked him in solitary confinement after he wrote an appeal letter to protest his being persecuted. Guards hung him up on his bunk bed. They did not allow him to sleep, and shocked his neck and legs with an electric baton. The prison said to his family that Mr. Cai refused to be "transformed" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] and then "jumped to his death from the third floor." His family questioned the prison authorities: How did it happen? He entered the prison in good health and now had died in such a tragic and mysterious way. The prison authorities demanded the family sign a release to allow an autopsy, but his family refused. -
Mr. Lv Xinshu, an Elementary Schoolteacher, and Mr. Wang Hongbin Both Die As a Result of Torture
2010-09-29Mr. Lv Xinshu, 59, was sentenced to an eight-year prison term in 2000 for practising Falun Gong. In prison, Mr. Lv was tortured physically and mentally. He displayed severe symptoms of liver ascites, was emaciated, and his feet were swollen. He was so ill that he couldn't even eat. Due to the liver ascites, his belly extended quite a bit. He couldn't lie down and sat through many sleepless nights. On May 23rd, 2009, Mr. Lv Xinshu passed away. -
Who Made This Couple Suffer So Much?
2010-09-29Ms. Li Chunyan and her husband, Hou Yujiu were sentenced to four years of imprisonment in 2002 for practising Falun Gong. They were released in 2006, and Ms. Li was sent to a forced labour camp again in October. Both husband and wife were taken away by police from Xinjiang Autonomous Region (AR) in 2009. Her husband was detained and persecuted for a year, and Ms. Li was sentenced to a seven-year prison term. She is currently being tortured in a prison in Xinjiang. -
Family Asking Attorneys to Seek Justice in the Death of Ms. Yuan Pingjun
2010-09-29Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yuan Pingjun, a resident of Shijiazhuang, was recently persecuted to death. In the wake of the tragedy, family members have had to overcome threats and cover-ups from police. They have since retained attorneys and are formally seeking justice through the legal system. The family saw Ms. Yuan's remains and noticed that there was a bloody hole in the back of her head. The family believes, based on this and other evidence, that Yuan Pingjun was tortured before she died. Soon after, several Chinese Communist Party departments in the Xinhua District swiftly transported Ms. Yuan's remains to a crematorium to be guarded by the police and would not let her family hold a memorial service or set up a mourning site.
