  • Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Persecuted in Guangdong Provincial Women's Prison

    The 610 Office of Guangdong Province Prison Administration Bureau create a pattern of "dragon" persecution. They curse and physically abuse practitioners with deprivation of sleep, electric shocks, and slave labour. They also inject them with toxic drugs. The prison also instigates other inmates' hatred toward practitioners by depriving these inmates of their privileges in order to destroy the will of practitioners. As soon as a practitioner gives in, the prison continues the persecution by making them write guarantee statements of "repentance," "exposure and criticism," and "self confession."
  • Mr. Ma Zhixin, Tortured to Disability, Died During the Olympic Games

    On July 9th, 2008, the officials in Anqiu City arrested more than twenty Falun Gong practitioners, including Zhang Zhenfang, using the excuse of "maintaining security for the Olympic Games." Mr. Ma Zhixin, Ms. Zhang's husband, who was totally dependent on his wife's nursing care after suffering torture at the hands of the police, suffered an extreme shock and was mentally tormented. His condition quickly deteriorated and he passed away on August 21st, 2008. He was only 49 years old.
  • Methods of Torture Used on Practitioners in Wulumuqi Women's Prison

    Incarcerated drug abusers are instigated to to beat steadfast practitioners. Each practitioner is monitored by a particular inmate assigned by the prison authorities, Practitioners are forced to stand for long periods of time. They are deprived of sleep and are not allowed to go to the toilet--sometimes they end up soiling themselves. They are not allowed any family visits nor to make any phone calls. Ms. Pu Chun has been detained four times and imprisoned a total of three years. Currently, she is in a confined cell. She was tied to a bare bed and not allowed to take a shower. Both her hands and legs were restrained, her mouth was covered, and she was repeatedly shocked with electric batons.
  • Persecution of Ms. Zhang Yujuan from Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Zhang Yujuan, 45, is from Wuchang City. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has persecuted her for practising Falun Gong, bringing countless hardships to her and her family members. On April 14th, 2005, police took Ms. Zhang to the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp without following any legal proceedings. Zhang Bo, chief of the Seventh Team, humiliated Ms. Zhang in every way imaginable. Because she did not cooperate with them and refused to join the CCCP, Zhang Bo tortured her by having her stand and squat for long periods of time. He also forced her to perform up to 16 hours of hard labour per day.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Xu Dongyu and Huang Xungui Arrested by Police

    On the evening of September 28th, 2008, practitioners Xu Dongyu and Huang Xungui were reported to the police as they handed out leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Yikou, Xingzi County. They were arrested, and currently are still detained at the Xingzi County Detention Centre. On October 6th, family members went to the Xingzi County Police Department to ask for the release of the practitioners. The police department's door was locked from the inside and no one was allowed to enter, so the family then went to the Xingzi County Detention Centre. The police from the detention centre first yelled at them. But they continued to ask, so they were finally allowed to visit the two practitioners, however neither was released.
  • Ms. Feng Rongxia Seriously Ill After Being Persecuted in Shanghai Women's Prison

    Since being sent to Shanghai Women's Prison on September 17th, 2007, 43 year old Feng Rongxia has been to the prison hospital over ten times, almost once a month. Although seriously ill, guards in the prison designated criminals to beat her in the cold weather, in order to force her to give up Falun Gong. She was beaten until she lost consciousness, but they poured cold water on her face, and she was kicked and beaten again.
  • Primary School Teacher Ms. Chang Ping Tortured at Mental Hospital Four Times

    After Ms. Chang Ping began to practise Falun Gong she was cured of her illnesses within a week. Then, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials sent her to a mental hospital four times because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. She is now at the Jiamusi Mental Hospital. At the first mental hospital she recalled, "Several people held me down and injected me with a drug. I lost consciousness almost immediately. When I regained consciousness, they forced me to take some drugs and kept me on an IV that also held some kind of medication. I was kept drowsy and muddle-headed for a long time. One day, I looked into a mirror. My eyes stared blankly out of my face, my hair was messy and the corners of my mouth had bloodstains from the force-feedings. I burst into tears. They had tortured me beyond recognition."
  • Ms. Zhao Lanfang Endures Harsh Interrogation Methods by Police from the Nanhui Police Department in Shanghai

    On August 23rd, 2008, six to eight police officers broke into practitioner Ms. Zhao Lanfang's home. Several officers forced her out of her home and pushed her into a car while the remaining police ransacked her home. During the one month that Ms. Zhao Lanfang was detained at the Nanhui Detention Centre, there were eight officers assigned to her case, divided into four pairs. Each pair took turns interrogating her. The interrogation was brutal and they were very rude. They would sometimes pretend to be nice and sometimes were harsh. The police told her, "Abusive action is allowed during interrogation, it is quite normal."
  • Two Mothers of Young Children Sentenced to Forced Labour in Guangdong Province

    In mid-August 2008, the Chinese Communist Party 610 Office in Lechang City, Guangdong Province, arrested two young mothers, both Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Gong Xuejun is the mother of an 18-month-old and Ms. Yu Shanzhen has a three-year-old. They were each sentenced to two years of forced labour and taken to the notorious Sanshui Women's Forced Labour Camp. Since the day Ms. Gong was arrested, her family hasn't stopped trying to reason with the departments involved, rain or shine. Everyone has given them the same answer: "The 'government' has made the decision. We can't do anything."
  • Ex-Army Officer Stationed at the Shanhaiguan Airport Is Near Death as a Result of Relentless Persecution

    Mr. Wei Danquan's wife went to Jidong Prison in Tangshan City to visit her husband on October 18th, 2008. She surmounted many obstacles to see him in person. Mr. Wei Danquan, about 40 years old, was pale and emaciated when his wife finally got to see him. He was too weak to stand and remained in a chair for the entire visit. Prison guards closely observed him the entire time. Mr. Wei's wife talked to him on the phone through the glass. Their conversation was amplified and everyone in the corridor of the reception room could hear it clearly. Mr. Wei is an ex-army officer. He was stationed at the Shanhaiguan Airport but was suspended from his duties for practising Falun Gong and has been persecuted ever since. He has been arrested, detained, tortured, and sentenced to imprisonment. He is in critical condition.
  • After Zhang Huirong's Arrest, His Wife Suffered a Mental Collapse

    Since 1999, the year when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang Huirong has been homeless. He was arrested four times despite having left home. Now, his hands and feet have deep marks from being shackled for long periods of time. He has returned home only once since the beginning of last winter. During the Beijing Olympics, when Mr. Zhang was repairing his car in his garage, several police officers showed up and arrested him. They handcuffed him and put him in the car after ransacking his home. Mr. Zhang called out, "Police officers are arresting good people!" After his wife witnessed her husband's arrest she became terrified and suffered a mental collapse.
  • Recent Incidents of Falun Gong Practitioners Being Arrested by Police in Daqing City

    Ms. Jiang Fengqin, 56, was arrested at home while she was looking after her grandson. Her home was ransacked. The persecutors ruthlessly tortured Ms. Jiang. They put mustard oil on a mask and put it on her mouth. They also rubbed mustard oil directly into Jiang Fengqin's eyes, nose and mouth. This caused her to be unable to breathe, with great pain and tears running from her eyes. She subsequently lost consciousness. Jiang Fengqin was sentenced to eight years in prison.
  • Ms. Zhong Fangqiong and Others Cruelly Persecuted by Police in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province

    On August 1st, 2008, I was riding my electric bike and I was forced off my bike by one car and then surrounded by five or six others. I was arrested. I was taken to a detention centre by police. They handcuffed me to a chair and directed a very bright bulb into my eyes. Police officers took shifts torturing me in different ways over a 24 hour period, and did not let me sleep. One officer used police equipment to stab my lower back and thighs in front of the security guard, each time for about an hour. When I fainted, he would apply a stinging chemical to my upper and lower eyelids, temples, inside my nose and even in my mouth. Every inch of my skin touched by the chemical developed a rash, swelling, and peeling skin.
  • 60-Year-Old Ms. Zhang Peilan Dies as a Result of Persecution in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    On May 24th, 2008, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary Zhou Yongkang arrived in Shenyang City and caused more than fifty practitioners to be arrested on the same night. Four to five officers from the Qigong Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Peilan, 60, from her home. She was sentenced to one year of forced labour. She was held in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. The camp administration never allowed visitation by Ms. Zhang's family, but at the beginning of August 2008, they suddenly called her family and said that she was dying. The Masanjia Camp was not willing to pay her medical costs, so her family was allowed to take her home on August 13th, 2008. Ms. Zhang died at her home on October 7th, 2008.
  • Suihua Forced Labour Camp Guards Intensified Their Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners During the Olympics

    The forced labour camp used the slogans such as "Stabilize the environment" and "Create harmony" to incite the increased brutality. They didn't allow the practitioners to drink boiled hot water, make phone calls, purchase goods, or allow them to meet with family members. All practitioners were separated, tied-up, and forced to sing the so-called "transformation" songs, study the camp regulations and orders, and read the "Reporting Lyrics" the guards drew up. If practitioners didn't read or sing, they would face physical brutality or be forced to stand for a few hours, regardless of age. The guards used electric batons and rubber clubs to hit the practitioners. They used ropes to tie them up, burned them with cigarettes, and used fire to burn their fingers and toes.
