• Guards at Guangshui City Detention Centre Violently Force-Feed Ms. Wang Yanfeng, Resulting in Her Death

  On September 24th, 2008, Ms. Wang Yanfeng, a practitioner from Anlu City, was dragged into a room by guards at the Guangshui No. 1 Detention Centre. They violently force-fed her a mixture of flour and water, which made her choke. The force-feeding blocked her oesophagus and respiratory pipes, and she passed out immediately. By 9:00 p.m., when her family rushed to the detention centre, Ms. Wang had died and been left in a refrigerator cabinet. Her body was in a struggling position before she passed away.

• Mr. Liu Xiyong Persecuted Repeatedly in Dalian City

  Since the Chinese Communist Party started its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Liu Xiyong went to his city government to tell them about the wonderfulness of Falun Gong and the benefits he gained from practising. He was persecuted three times by Shihe police officers and the Shihe Town government. In 2002, he was sentenced to two years and imprisoned at Dalian Forced Labour Camp. During that time, he suffered through torture, being locked up in a small cell, and forced to sleep in a "Dead Person's Bed" for over 40 days. The torture caused him to lose the ability to take care of himself. In July 2008, he was arrested and taken to Sanli Detention Centre. Two months later, the centre still refused to let his family members visit him.

• Policewoman Tortures Practitioners at Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City

  Yan Hongli is a squadron leader in Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City. Since 1999 she has been torturing Falun Gong practitioners detained there. She spared no effort and was awarded for her fierceness and cruelty; her "excellence" in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. She was very cruel and well known for beating practitioners' faces. She didn't even try to hide it. In October 2004, practitioner Liu Sujun managed to walk free from the forced labour camp. When she was caught and sent back to the forced labour camp that night, Yan Hongli and other police shocked her with electronic batons and locked her in a secret cell near the Education Department in the forced labour camp.

• Practitioner's Wife Arrested

  Mr. Wu Buo is a Falun Gong practitioner from Changtu County, Liaoning Province. On October 1st, 2008, policemen from the Changtu County National Security Brigade and Daxing Township Police Station broke into his home at around 8 p.m. Wu Buo was not at home, so the police took his wife, Zou Dangmei, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, to the police station, with no apparent reason and without going through any legal procedures. Zou Dongmei was detained at the police station until the next day. This was the second time she was arrested this year.

• Calling for My Mother's Immediate and Unconditional Release

  September 4th, 2008, marked the end of my family's peaceful life. Hefei City National Security Bureau officials were responsible for this dramatic state of affairs. My mother received a visa and a ticket and was going to visit my family in the US. Just before her departure, police officers from the Hefei National Security Bureau raided her home, on a mission to suppress Falun Gong. My mother, retired at the age of 56, was forced to endure a week-long secret interrogation and was then sentenced to one year of forced labour, all within just three weeks. Officials from the national security bureau and the police department collaborated to make this happen very quickly. She was sent to the Anhei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp.

• Help Needed to Rescue Practitioner Mr. Tang Yi in Chongqing City

  On May 2nd, 2008, Mr. Tang Yi was searched and arrested by police on a train for possessing a Falun Gong book. In June he was sentenced to two years of forced labour. Mr. Tang started a hunger strike and refused to wear a name tag or a prison uniform. They have been force-feeding Mr. Tang through a tube. He had already been brutally persecuted for a long time before, and became extremely weak and emaciated, with his weight dropping from 175 lbs. to about 110 lbs. He couldn't lift his right arm due to tuberculosis of the bone on his right arm, which constantly oozed and bled. His body was completely disfigured, and he looked awful. He was weak and could no longer take care of himself.

• Mr. Sun Pinghua's Account of His Persecution at the Hands of Police from Yueyang City Domestic Security Division in Hunan Province

  Mr. Sun Pinghua is 36 years old. He is a machinery repair worker at the Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant in Yueyang City, Hunan Province. He was arrested in March 2008 by the Domestic Security Division and was injured when the police tortured him trying to force a confession. The doctors said that he had no feeling from his left elbow joint to the fingers due to external forces pulling on the arm. If his arm didn't recover within six months, then the arm may need to be amputated. The police took him to the Xinkaipu Forced Labour Camp in Changsha City on August 12th, 2008.

• Falun Gong Practitioners Forced to Perform Slave Labour in Beijing Women's Prison

  In the Daxing Women's Prison in Beijing over the past few years, prison police have utilized all forms of brutal, inhumane methods to "transform" [brainwash] Falun Gong practitioners. They have coerced practitioners into performing harsh slave labour to reap higher profits from their products. In the section dedicated to persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, the authorities have forced practitioners to knit clothing and make bags, pencil cases, table cloths, flip-flops and socks. Many times practitioners' hands bled from the labour or they suffered from deteriorating eyesight. Practitioners have also been forced to manufacture products using toxic glue to seal boxes, and many practitioners developed dizziness very soon after doing such work.

• Mr. Dong Liantai's Family Persecuted After His Death as a Result of Torture

  On June 24th, 2008, He Wei, the head of Zhaopaotun Village in Dancheng Town, reported to the police that Dong Liantai, 45, was a Falun Gong practitioner. Mr. Dong was then arrested and brutally tortured in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp. He died on September 19th, eight days after he was sent home. The day after Mr. Dong's death, some of his relatives went to look for He Wei to tell him not to harm good people. He Wei punched and kicked the nephew of Mr. Dong's wife and broke his mobile phone, then punched a niece. He also pointed at Mr. Dong's daughter and said, "Too few people have died in your family. More should die."

• The Gansu Province First Forced Labour Camp Still Ruthlessly Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners

  In January 2008, practitioner Mr. Gu Zeyuan was grossly abused. Guard Li Wenhui beat him ruthlessly, then placed him in confinement for seven days with his limbs stretched in the shape of an "X" and tied between two beds. He developed severe illness symptoms and was first hospitalized and then transferred to the Dashaping Labour Camp Hospital. In June 2008, practitioner Mr. Kang Shangwen refused to be "reformed" [brainwashed]. Division head Han Ximing used the electrical baton to shock Mr. Kang's face, lips, cheeks, and neck while reviling him for nearly 20 minutes.

• The Persecution of Ms. Wan Yonghong and Other Practitioners Employed at Qian'an City Industrial and Commercial Bank of China

  Li Zhengzeng was the director of the Qian'an Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Since three practitioners worked at the bank, at his first all staff meeting, he threatened that he would not tolerate any of his employees practising Falun Gong. In October of 2007 over forty practitioners were persecuted in Qian'an City, the three practitioners working at the bank were among them. On October 9th, 2008, police officers went to Ms. Wan Yonghong's workplace, one of its bank deposit branches. They arrested her, then ransacked her home and confiscated some of her personal belongings. At the police station, police brutally tortured Ms. Wan. They shocked her with electric batons for more than two hours.

• Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Songfang Sentenced to Four Years in Prison in Guangdong Province

  On February 21st, 2008, Ms. Li Songfang was arrested by the local police. After searching her home and harassing her family members, the police confiscated some Falun Gong materials and over 200 yuan in cash. In June 2008, the police secretly interrogated Ms. Li, and without going to trial, sentenced her to four years in the Guangzhou Women's Prison. When her family received news of her imprisonment, they were devastated. Her husband was grief-stricken and found it very difficult to concentrate on his day-to-day life. Once he absent mindedly walked outside his home and stumbled to the ground, unable to get up.

• The Persecution of a Married Couple, Mr. Gong Maofu and Ms. Guo Jinrong, in Mengyin County, Shandong Province

  Gong Maofu and Guo Jinrong are a couple from Shandong Province who began practising Falun Gong in the Spring of 1999. But on July 20th, 1999, Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] political regime started to attack Falun Gong and cruelly persecute Gong Maofu and Gu Jinrong physically, mentally, and financially. In 2003 they were arrested. Because they refused to acknowledge that they had done anything wrong, Ms. Guo Jinrong was punched and and kicked by Wang Wei, from the 610 Office. Then with the excuse that she did not straighten her legs, Wang Wei again slapped her hard on her head and he did not stop until she passed out. Afterwards, they forced the couple to watch videos slandering Falun Gong and write so-called "exposing and criticizing articles."

• Mr. Yang Jianzhong, 70 Years Old, Persecuted in Wenjiang, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province

  Seventy-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Yang Jianzhong was formerly a senior cost engineer at Factory 7111 of the Aeronautics Department in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Nevertheless, being controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, Factory 7111 issued an order in March 2008 to forcibly take Yang Jianzhong to the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre and make him renounce his faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Under tremendous pressure Yang Jianzhong left his home at the beginning of April and lived a homeless life. Yang Jianzhong secretly returned home on July 6th. On July 7th, Factory 7111 personnel forcibly took Yang Jianzhong away.

• Ms. Gu Li and Ms. Qiu Shuping Secretly Sentenced in Dalian City

  On March 20th, 2008, the police arrested Ms. Gu Li and Ms. Qiu Shuping when they were telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a local village. Police officers ransacked the two practitioners' homes and confiscated their personal belongings. The police tried to deceive them during the interrogation. After being detained for over six months, Ms. Gu was secretly sentenced to three years and Ms. Qiu to four years in prison. Both have appealed their cases.
