  • Savage Acts in Daqing Prison: Practitioners' Clothes Are Torn and Burned, Their Heads Shaved, They Are Put in Solitary Confinement

    Guards and inmates at Daqing Prison in Heilongjiang Province are cruelly persecuting practitioners who are detained there. The abuse includes having their clothes torn and burned, their heads shaved, being beaten, and being put in solitary confinement. Family members are also not allowed to visit them. At the beginning of August, a rule was made that practitioners were not allowed out in the fresh air. During the summer, even though it was over 30 degrees Celsius, the practitioners were crammed in a cell no more than several dozen metres square with more than 100 criminal inmates. Criminal inmates are placed beside every practitioner to monitor his activities.
  • Mr. Sui Yanzhang Tortured beyond Recognition at Changliu Detention Centre in Jilin Province

    For material gain, Changliu Detention Centre officials made their inmates do forced labour to earn revenue by making toothpicks for export. Everyone is forced to get up at 5.30 a..m. and begin work at 6:00 a.m. If they are unable to finish their quotas, they have to continue working until midnight. As the working hours were long and the quality of the food was poor, the inmates were under-nourished and exhausted, making it difficult for them to finish their quotas. The warden incited the criminals to beat Mr. Sui Yanzhang. Those who could not finish their quotas also beat him out of frustration. Mr. Sui has now become skeleton-like from the torture. His wife Xu Yingjie could not recognise her own husband during his trial.
  • Several Practitioners Arrested by Police from Xingyang City, Henan Province

    Recently, the 610 Office and Public Security Bureau of Xingyang City, Henan Province, has been actively arresting Dafa practitioners from around the region. On the morning of August 15th, five police officers from the Wangcun Police Station went to Rongzai Village, Gaocun Township. They took practitioner Mu Jun into custody. Leaflets exposing the persecution were also confiscated. On the afternoon of July 1st, 69-year-old practitioner Ms. Li Xiuzhi was arrested by police from the Xingyang National Protection Team while she was putting up posters exposing the persecution at the Xingyang Train Station. She was taken to Sunzai Detention Centre in Guangwu.
  • Incidents of Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in the Changde Region of Hunan Province

    Ms. Wu distributed leaflets exposing the persecution on September 9th, 2006 and was arrested by police. Ms. Wu was sent to Changsha Women's Prison on December 5th, 2006. She was physically abused daily and deprived of sleep. Her legs have swelled from prolonged standing. The guards even refused to let her go to the toilet and she was handcuffed behind her back. The criminal inmates, under orders from the guards, have carried out all the torture. Ms. Wu was tortured until she looks skeleton-like and weighs only 40 kg (88 lbs). She is extremely weak, but the local police have refused to allow her release and continue to detain her for further abuse. Her health and safety are serious concerns.
  • Mr. Wang Huai from Hebei Province Has Been Imprisoned for Seven Years

    In the winter of 2001, Mr. Wang Huai was arrested by police, who had used wiretapping and tracking methods. The police handcuffed him and then brutally trampled on his handcuffs, causing serious bleeding and extreme swelling of his arms. They then wrapped his head in a bed sheet and dragged him downstairs to take him to Hongqilou Police Station. Mr. Wang Huai was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment at the Baoding City Prison in 1999. Because Mr. Wang Huai has persisted in his cultivation of Falun Dafa, he has suffered brutal torture for several years.
  • Inmates Torture Practitioners in Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Practitioners who arrive at the labour camp are detained in the First Division and held among the regular inmates. The camp guards require that each practitioner memorise the labour camp rules within a certain time. Those who can not or do not recite the rules are not allowed to sleep between midnight and 2:00 a.m. Instead, they are forced to stand for those two hours and do the regular forced labour work the next day. Every day, they have to start work right after breakfast and work from 7:00 a.m. to noon. Then they are forced to stand until 2:00 p.m. Afterwards, they have to resume work again until 10:00 p.m. and sometimes until midnight.
  • Shenyang Prison Guards' Brutality against Falun Gong Practitioners

    In December 2002, at the former Shenyang No. 3 Prison, a criminal nicknamed "Big Mute" was told by guards to attack Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lan by pouring cold water onto his head. After the cold-water torture, Mr. Lan collapsed to the floor. He later developed severe diarrhoea. Fearing that their criminal act would be exposed, the guards sent Mr. Lan to the Prison Hospital. Due to continued torture, Mr. Lan subsequently died in the hospital. The guards claimed that they spent over 10,000 yuan on hospital bills, trying to save Mr. Lan's life.
  • Ms. Zhao Qunlan and Her Family Members Subjected to Continuous Persecution for Years

    During the past eight years, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Qunlan from Yueyang City, Hunan Province has suffered cruel persecution repeatedly. Practitioners held in the Strictly Controlled Division were subjected to forceful brainwashing in a dark room that never allowed practitioners to see sunshine. Their bedding went mouldy, and they all acquired scabies. The scabies caused unbearable itching and bad smells that also made it difficult for them to sleep. Some practitioners' scabies did not heal for years, and the skin festered. Ms. Zhao Qunlan's scabies did not heal for two years after being released. Because of the drug that damaged her central nervous system, Ms. Zhao could not even remember her family members' names.
  • National Security Bureau Agents Arrest Yang Xuejun, from Dengzhou City, Henan Province

    On August 10th, 2007, police suddenly broke into the home of Falun Dafa practitioner Tian Xiaoshu, arresting her 31-year-old daughter, Yang Xuejun, also a Dafa practitioner. Tian Xiaoshu's son, Yang Yongdong, tried to explain the truth to them about Falun Dafa, but they refused to listen, and said, "I do not fear retribution, and I will kill you and destroy your family." The police tried to arrest Yang Yongdong, but he escaped and became homeless. He is still unable to return home.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Shi Jinqin from Sichuan Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    On September 3rd, 2003, Ms. Shi Jinqin was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong at a market when she was arrested by police. She was detained in the Mianyang City Detention Centre again, and her home was ransacked. The Fucheng District Court sentenced her to three years in prison. Ms. Shi Jinqin was released on November 23rd, 2006. Three days before she was released, she suddenly felt very weak and could not walk or talk. She became paralysed within ten days. She died on March 31st, 2007 as a result of the persecution she suffered for being a Falun Gong practitioner. She was only 57 years old.
  • Five-year-long Persecution of Li Xianglan and Others at the Harbin City Prison in Heilongjiang Province

    I was taken to the detention centre, after the police arrested me at home in the middle of the night. Guard Yuan Hailong struck me until I was covered with bruises. My eyes became bloodshot, my lips and gums bled and swelled up, and both sides of my neck bled from being pinched repeatedly. He kicked me with his boots, and my legs swelled up so severely that I could not fit them in my trousers, even after many days. He kicked me in the hips, and I felt as if my hips were exploding. I could not turn over in bed for 20 days. That was five years ago, but the area where he kicked me still feels like bugs are crawling over it.
  • Husband and Daughter of Ms. Gao Baoju Abused While Trying to Visit Her in Detention Centre

    On August 9th, 2007, three officers of the State Security Division in Mancheng County Police Department, took Ms. Gao Baoju, a Falun Gong practitioner into custody from her own factory. After that, her family repeatedly requested to visit her but were denied. The whole family was impatient to see her. He Jia, Ms. Gao's daughter, was due to attend a new school soon and was extremely anxious about her mother's safety. On August 22nd, He Jia and her father went to the detention centre to visit her mother. Jia Ruiqin, the female deputy director, growled, "So you are Gao Baoju's daughter. Pay 10 yuan first, then you can see your mother." Ms. He replied, "I do not have the money on me." Jia Ruiqin then swore at her.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Huang Min Persecuted to Death in the Qingyang District Hospital, Sichuan Province - The Second Practitioner to Die There in 4 Months

    Less than six months ago, National Security agents and police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Huang Min from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province on the street. On August 15th, 2007, her family was informed of her death. Huang Min had been tied to a bed at Xinhuashe District Health Service Centre. Ms. Huang's body weighed around 25 kg [55 lbs]. The facial expression was one of terrible anguish. The eyes were slightly open, and the head was tilted to the right. The mouth was wide open, completely exposing the upper front teeth. One tooth was missing, in the middle of the lower front row. An unknown yellow substance covered the whole mouth and teeth, and also leaked from the corner of the mouth. The body had a strong medicinal odour. The fingers were frozen in the posture of a tight grip. There were a few bruises on the forearms that appeared to have been caused by pinches.
  • Mr. Zheng Handong Died after Being Forcibly Hospitalised by Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang County, Hubei Province

    On March 20th, 2007, 26 practitioners including Mr. Zheng Handong were were transferred from Qinduankou Prison to Fanjiatai Prison and again subjected to physical examinations: their blood pressure was measured, x-rays taken, and blood drawn for a second time. For two consecutive days, the political commissar and the hospital director of the prison, as well as the guards of the ward and subdistrict, all came to request that Mr. Zheng Handong go to the hospital for treatment. He never returned. The only information was from guard Xiong Zuyong of his ward who was responsible for delivering him to the hospital. Xiong repeatedly claimed that Mr. Zheng's blood pressure while he was hospitalised continued to decrease. Mr. Zheng died on August 8th, 2007. Why would Mr. Zheng Handong die in the hospital while he was under the care of expert doctors? What did these "experts" do?
  • Forced Labour Camps in Shanghai Enslave Inmates to Produce Toys for Export

    Shanghai Hali Toys Ltd is a large enterprise in China that produces toys. A subsidiary of The Haixin Group, the company exports some of its products to Europe and U.S. The company specialises in producing and selling stuffed toys. For some of the "Made in China" products that are exported, the production base are forced labour camps in Shanghai. In order to reduce costs and meet fast delivery deadlines, the company violates international trade laws. It colludes with the forced labour camp to enslave Falun Dafa practitioners and other inmates, forcing them to work extra long hours and do extra harsh labour work.
