• Older Practitioner Ms. Liu Gaixian from Shaanxi Province Died as a Result of Torture

  Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Gaixian, about 55 years old, was arrested in 2001 while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the truth about Falun Dafa. She was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour and served her term in Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. She was tortured both mentally and physically there, forced to do 17-18 hours of labour per day, deprived of her right to sleep, and forced to stand facing a wall during the night. Ms. Liu Gaixian was locked up in Shaanxi Province Women's Prison for 16 months as of August 7th, 2006. She endured all kinds of torture, to the point where she could not take care of herself. On October 22nd, 2006, only 75 days after she returned home, she died from the severe injuries she sustained in the prison.

• Persecution of Practitioners in Fanjiatai Prison, Shayang City, Hubei Province

  In the cells, the perpetrators force practitioners to sit in front of their beds. They cannot talk with other practitioners, and during closed periods, they cannot make phone calls to or visit with their families. They are especially prohibited from seeing family members who are also practitioners. Even packages sent by the practitioners' families are returned with all kinds of excuses. The guards prohibit them from having a mosquito net in the hot summer when the cells are full of mosquitoes. Worst of all, if practitioners sit on their bed or bench and close their eyes to take a break at noontime, the guards order the criminal inmates to turn on the television and adjust the volume to maximum, make loud noises with stringed instruments, madly knock on the benches, etc. The noise fills the whole cell, keeping practitioners from resting, disturbing them mentally and hurting them physically.

• National Security Team in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, Arrests Falun Gong Practitioners - Mr. Han Naijun's Life is in Peril

  Four Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Zhang Yanmei, Mr. Han Naijun, Mr. Yan Jialiang and Ms. Wang Qi from Tongliao City were recently arrested. Police released Yan Jialiang after they extorted 50,000 yuan from his family. Zhang Yanmei was released the same day; however, her husband Han Naijun is still being detained. Han Naijun has been on a 14-day hunger strike to protest the persecution at the Hexi Detention Centre. His life is in peril; however, detention centre personnel did not inform his family.

• Ms. Ye Sijing in Her 60s from Changsha City, Hunan Province Sent to Forced Labour Camp

  Practitioner Ms. Ye Sijing lives in Changsha City, Hunan Province. On August 2nd, 2007, Ms. Ye was sentenced to three years and sent to the Baima Women's Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City of Hunan Province. She is locked in the 7th Brigade, which is designated as a unit for torturing Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Ye has been so brutally tortured that she has lost her eyesight in just 30 days.

• Details of a Recent Brainwashing Session at Jishu Town Reservoir, Shulan City, Jilin Province

  Shulan City Politics and Law Committee officials, along with agents from the 610 Office and police department, held a brainwashing session at the Jishu Town Reservoir, for the purpose of forcing Falun Gong practitioners into giving up their beliefs. They used various methods including bullying and terrifying, lies, slander, intimidation and deception. One person was initially in charge of each practitioner. Later there were two, three and more assigned to one practitioner. Sometimes more than a dozen perpetrators attempted to "reform" one practitioner using the above-mentioned abusive methods.

• Two Falun Gong Practitioners from Anhui and Shandong Provinces Died from the Persecution

  On May 11th, 2005, Ms. Liu was arrested by police because she had hung a Dafa banner exposing the persecution. Some of her property was confiscated and she was detained for two weeks. Then, Ms. Liu was taken to Zibo 2nd Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shandong, without any legal process. She was tortured by camp guards, which resulted in her vomiting blood three times. After she was released on April 17th, 2006, she continued vomiting blood. The hospital diagnosis was lung and colon cancer. Ms. Liu passed away on September 12th, 2007.

• Mr. Sun Xianming Brutally Tortured in Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province

  On November 15th, 2001, at about 4:00 a.m., Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Sun Xianming, 56, wrote a message exposing the persecution at the over-pass of the Second Department Store. For his act, he was arrested and officers sentenced him to a two-year term of forced labour. During his unjust incarceration in Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp, Mr. Sun suffered brutality at the hands of guard Zhu Shenglin, who broke Mr. Sun's arms and hung him from a bunk bed while shocking him with several electric batons simultaneously. Sun Xianming suffered severe burns to his chest. Not only did he not receive medical treatment for his broken arms and severe chest burns, he was forced to pick corn stalks in the cornfield all day, which caused severe swelling in his arms. His pain continued into the evening because he was forced to sit on a small backless stool until midnight.

• High School Teacher Mr. Zhou Qing from Jingshan County, Hubei Province, Almost Blind As a Result of Torture

  "I am Zhou Qing's wife. Zhou Qing and I were monitored separately by specific county leaders, and we were imprisoned many times. While we were imprisoned, our child was placed in the care of his grandparents. This happened when our boy was only one-year-old and continued until he was two years old. In detention, the prison warden ordered inmates to take turns jumping on Zhou Qing's chest from a high location and the inmates kicked him all over. Due to repeated tortures of this type, in conjunction with a long prison term, inadequate nutrition, and lack of food, Zhou Qing became practically blind, and he now cannot see anything clearly."

• Practitioner Mr. Ma Qinghai Severely Tortured at Chifeng Prison, Inner Mongolia

  Mr. Ma Qinghai was sentenced to nine years in prison because he told people about the persecution against Falun Dafa. Mr. Ma has been tortured since he was sent to Chifeng Prison on January 12th, 2006. The day Mr. Ma entered the Chifeng Prison, he refused to wear prison clothes, since he had not committed any crime. A guard beat him until he lost consciousness and then ordered three prisoners to continue beating him. When Mr. Ma woke up, his face was bruised and disfigured. He went on a hunger strike in protest and asked to be released immediately. Five days later, the guard tied him to a bed and inserted a tube into his nose and throat and force-fed him.

• Police Mistreat Practitioners Ms. Liang Xiuqin and Her Son, and Ms. Duan Guiping and Her Daughter from Hebei Province

  At around 10:00 p.m. on August 10th, 2007, police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lian Xiuqin and her son Li Qiulin (college student, not a practitioner) and confiscated Li Qiulin's motorcycle. Police accused them of putting up Falun Dafa posters. At 4:00 a.m. the next day, six or seven police officers forced their way into practitioner Ms. Duan Guiping's home by climbing over the wall around her house, awakening her husband Li Dong and her daughter Li Anli, who were sleeping soundly. When Ms. Duan Guiping's husband, Li Dong, asked the police, "What are you doing here so late at night?" A police officer threatened him and said "Don't move as this is a criminal offence case." At that time, Ms. Duan had only her night clothes on. The policemen did not allow her to get dressed and dragged her out.

• Sanhe City Detention Centre Transfers Many Practitioners to Prison

  On July 18th, 2007, authorities at the Sanhe City Detention Centre transferred seven practitioners to Jidong Prison in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Mr. Zhou Chuanzhong cannot walk by himself due to the mistreatment to which he has been subjected. Supported by three people, he walked out to see his family. He could not speak and was in a confused state. His head and face were so swollen that it was almost impossible to recognise him. He was wearing a card on his chest that said "Strictly control." His family requested his release for medical treatment, but it was denied.

• Three Falun Gong Practitioners from Yantai, Beijing, and Baoding City Died as a Result of Persecution

  52-year-old Ms. He Wenzhi went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong three times. As a result, she was detained in a detention centre. Because the Communist officials often harassed and threatened her and her family, Ms. He decided to go into exile to avoid further persecution. When she returned home she was arrested again and sentenced to two years of forced labour. Wangcun Forced Labour Camp guards brainwashed Ms. He Wenzhi and subjected her to sleep deprivation. Ms. He endured physical deprivations and mental torment and eventually developed leukaemia. She had no strength and her face was pale. She returned home in the spring of 2006. She died on December 29th, 2006, after having endured the illness-induced pain for six months.

• More Information Regarding Zheng Handong from Hubei Province Who Was Persecuted to Death

  Falun Dafa practitioner Zheng Handong was persecuted to death in Shayangfanjiatai Prison on August 8th, 2007; he was only 44 years old. Zheng Handong was arrested in Nanchang City in 2002. He developed hypertension and heart disease after the brutal treatment. In May 2007, Mr. Zheng was hospitalised in the prison hospital in critical condition. On August 7th his family members visited him and he was able to carry on a conversation with them. They were on their way home on August 8th when the prison called them to say that Zheng Handong had died. The death certificate stated that the cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage, but family members have doubts. If it were a cerebral hemorrhage, first, how could he have awakened clear-headed from a coma? Second, there were no neurological manifestations such as distortion of the mouth, eye, etc.

• Gross Abuse of Older Practitioner Ms. Xu Jinying at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province

  On April 7th, 2007, police arrested and ransacked the house of 58-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Jinying. She was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Xu Jinying went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The guards force-fed her cruelly each day. She sustained severe stomach injuries from long-term insertion of the feeding tube. In order to prevent her from pulling out the tube, the guards trussed her upper body and head with a rope, thus keeping the tube in place all the day, which caused her nonstop suffering. She was emaciated.

• Yi Xiangyang Tortured in Shandong Province Prison and His Arm and Leg Broken

  In October 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yi Xiangyang was arrested by the police. The police ordered criminal inmates to beat him with an iron bar and force him to eat urine and faeces. After suffering brutal torture for almost eight days, he appealed to the local Procuratorate, but they gave him no answer. In May 2005, Mr. Yi was sentenced and detained in Shandong Province Prison. In the prison, former practitioners, who had given up cultivation under the pressure of brainwashing and torture, took turns beating and verbally abusing Mr. Yi while trying to brainwash him. After seven days of abuse, Mr. Yi sustained a broken rib.
