  • The 610 Office in Shanghai Is Obstructing Justice, Discouraging Ms. Zeng Aihua's Lawyer from Visiting Her

    On May 23rd, 2006, Shanghai practitioner Ms. Zeng Aihua, 57 years old, a resident of Hong Kong, was arrested at home by police officers from Pudong New District Police Substation of Shanghai. Her home was ransacked and her belongings were confiscated. At present, the officials at the 610 Office of Shanghai are discouraging Ms. Zeng Aihua's lawyer from seeing her. Nobody has seen Ms. Zeng or heard anything about her for more than five months since her arrest.
  • Mr. Cao Dong and His Wife Face Extreme Difficulty on the Eve of the New Year

    On December 31st, 2006, Beijing was covered with snow. However, during this season of greetings, many families are still suffering from being separated due to persecution by the Chinese Communist regime. Ms. Yang Xiaojing, the spouse of Mr. Cao Dong, had to brave the cold wind and snow on the eve of the new year to bring attention to the plight of her husband, and call for his release. Her husband, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Dong, was arrested after he met with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice President of the European Parliament, on May 21st, 2006.
  • Ms. Zhu Guangzhen Died in July 2006 as a Result of Persecution

    Before the 2002 New Year in Hefei City, Anhui Province, 610 Office agents and policemen stormed into Ms. Zhu Guangzhen's home, ransacked the place and arrested her, and then had her sentenced to three years in prison to be served in the Suzhou City Prison. Guards encouraged prisoners to slam her head against the wall by grabbing her hair, which caused her front teeth to be knocked out. She was both mentally and physically tortured resulting in her eyesight being reduced so she could not see anything during the night, and she was very weak. Ms. Zhu was released in July 2005 with a very weak body. She died in July 2006.
  • Mr. Xi Shun, 70, Suffers a Mental Collapse from Repeated Harassment by Chinese Communist Party Officials

    October 1st, 2000, 70-year-old Mr. Xi Shun went to Beijing to appeal to the government for Falun Dafa. He was arrested and detained in a basement. There was no bed to sleep on. They did not give Mr. Xi any food nor did they notify his family. The mayor and secretary of the town harassed him often and Mr. Xi was both physically and mentally abused. After they extorted five thousand yuan from Mr. Xi's family, Mr. Xi was finally released. In November 2004, Mr. Xi witnessed his daughter being arrested and put into brainwashing classes. He suffered a nervous breakdown. Now, Mr. Xi lies confined to his bed, mentally disturbed.
  • The Relentless Persecution of 63-year-old Ms. Wang Yunliao

    At the end of 1999, when she told people about the benefits of practising Falun Gong at a train station, police officers arrested 63-year-old Ms. Wang Yunliao and kept her at a detention centre for two weeks. Her family was forced to pay 2,000 yuan to get her released. In 2003 she was arrested again and taken to brainwashing. They took turns intimidating her in an attempt to force her to give up Falun Dafa. In November 2006 Ms. Wang was arrested again and detained.
  • Laishui County 610 Office Agents in Hebei Province Destroy the Homes of Two Falun Gong Practitioners in Broad Daylight

    Laishui County 610 Office agents destroyed the homes of two Falun Gong practitioners on December 4th, 2006. They opened the front gate and barged inside the house. They completely destroyed all doors, windows, dishes and furniture, and some home appliances. The noise of furniture being smashed, breaking glass and barking dogs attracted several neighbours who gathered and watched the intruders. They removed the blade from a shovel and used the shovel handle to demolish items, including glass. Within 30 minutes, a clean and organised house was turned into a disaster zone.
  • Ms. Cheng Hanbo Died at 49 as a Result of Torture at Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province

    Since the beginning of the persecution in July 1999, Ms. Cheng Hanbo, a Falun Dafa practitioner, was subjected to inhuman torture by the local 610 Office, police, and guards at the detention centre and forced labour camp. Her family members were implicated under the Chinese Communist Party's "implication policy," and the local persecutors extorted more than 10,000 yuan from her family. Mrs. Cheng was tortured at Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. She suffered cruel mental and physical torture, and she did not recover. To avoid further persecution, the family had to move. During the past several months, Ms. Cheng had difficulty eating. She died on December 17th, 2006, at the age of 49.
  • Two Practitioners from Hunan and Liaoning Provinces Pass Away as a Result of the Persecution

    October 31st, 2006 was Mr. Peng Yunguo's 68th birthday, and his sons and daughters visited him to celebrate. Police broke into his home. They arrested Peng Yunguo with the excuse that someone had reported him for putting up posters exposing the persecution. In the meantime, the policemen deceived his children, telling them that they would only take him away for questioning. Peng Yunguo was detained in the Xiangyin Detention Centre for several days. As a result, his family members were extorted out of several thousand Yuan before he was released. Unable to bear the tremendous mental strain of the persecution he suffered, Mr. Peng passed away at 8 p.m. on December 24th, 2006.
  • Mr. Liu Hongwei Tortured in the Chuanying District Police Department of Jilin City, Jilin Province

    Mr. Liu Hongwei was arrested and sent to Jilin City Detention Centre. The police have frequently interrogated Liu Hongwei and extorted a confession from him by using harsh methods to gather information. During one interrogation, the police forced him to sit on the iron chair and he was unable to walk after he came back. His back was also severely injured. After a long period of time, Mr. Liu was taken back to interrogation, and was only able to move step by step with the support of the windowsill. Mr. Liu still has difficulty walking.
  • Ms. Wan Xiuying Currently Detained at Hailar Detention Centre in Inner Mongolia

    On December 8th, 2006, Ms. Wan Xiuying went missing on the train from Tongliao to Hailar, and family members were very anxious and looked for her everywhere. On December 14th, Shao Jun, who works at the National Security Division of the Kerqin Police Station in Tongliao City, said that Ms. Wan was detained in the Hailar City Railway Police Station. It was said that the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) followers found Dafa books in Ms. Wan’s handbag, along with information materials about Dafa and some CDs. Ms. Wan was later detained in Hailar Detention Centre. Her current situation is unclear.
  • Practitioner Mr. Gao Maosen from Guizhou Province Died at 46 As a Result of Persecution

    Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Gao Maosen had begun the practice of Falun Gong in 1998. Agents from the Guiyang City Political and Legal Committee arrested him in July 2006, along with his coworker, practitioner Chen Xiaohua. Mr. Gao was accused of having written unlawful letters to Mr. Chen. Both were placed in the Lannigou brainwashing centre. Mr. Gao Maosen died on November 17th, 2006 as a result of the persecution, at the age of 46. When his family members inspected his remains, they noticed specific marks on Mr. Gao's neck, indicating he had been restrained with a cable TV cord.
  • A First-hand Account of the Brutal Torture Suffered by Dafa Practitioners in Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Hunan Province

    "They first began to brainwash me. During the day, I was attacked, threatened and insulted by a group of "transformed" former practitioners. During other times, guards threatened me with corporal punishment, beat me and limited visits to the toilet to wash and use the toilet. During the night, I was forced to watch videos slandering Teacher Li and Dafa. I was monitored continuously by two prisoners. They tortured me when I closed my eyes. One prisoner hit me and mocked me by saying, "Who hit you? Who witnessed it?" At times, I was forced to stand for the entire night and sometimes I had to walk without taking a rest. After ten days, I became absent minded due to sleep deprivation."

    "There was not a day that I would be free from torture. The inmates assaulted all parts of my body. I remember the day when the wardens told inmates to fiercely beat and kick me. My legs became very swollen, and both of my feet were fractured. As I couldn't walk any more, the designated personnel had to carry me to the place to have my daily feeding."
  • Police from the 610 Office in Yanqing County, Beijing Arrested Twenty Dafa Practitioners in 2006

    On June 28th, 2008, Shi Yingjie was arrested. He was thirty-one years old and an employee at the railway station. During his detention, he was tortured and developed the symptoms of heart attack, high blood pressure and stroke. Once he was on the brink of death and was sent to the Yanqing County Hospital. On September 19th, the Beijing Public Security Bureau arrested him again. He is now detained at the Second Custodial Station under the Seventh Department of the Public Security Bureau.
  • Ms. Zhao Wenlan, 68, from Hebei Province Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

    Due to her beliefs in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and because she explained the facts about Falun Gong to people, Ms. Zhao Wenlan, a 68 year-old practitioner, has been arrested and detained on multiple occasions over the past seven years. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2004 and is currently detained at Shijiazhuang Women's Prison. Zhao Wenlan was tortured with the handcuffed-behind-the back method for nine days: the victim's shoulders are pulled down heavily by handcuffs at the back. After a while, the handcuffs cut into the flesh and the hands turn purple. It is very painful, and the victim cannot perform daily functions, nor are they able to sleep.
