  • Retired School teacher Ms. Yang Zefang from Sichuan Province Has Been Detained for More Than a Month

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Zefang was arrested by police when she was shopping at a market. police took her to the Suining City Detention Centre. Ms. Yang was previously subjected to a one-year forced labour term in February 2009 for practising Falun Gong. She put in a “study class,” which was actually a brainwashing session for her in the Suining City Detention Centre. Two people were assigned to monitor her. She had no personal freedom. Every day, all the daily activities were focused on “brainwashing” her. Ms. Yang refused to comply with them, so they would not release her. Due to this abuse, she was greatly harmed both physically and mentally.
  • Wife Died as a Result of Persecution; Husband and His Daughter Arrested Again

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Qingsheng was arrested with his daughter, Zhang Hui, on October 18th. We have learned that Mr. Zhang is currently being held in the Harbin City Police Department's Division No.7; his daughter's whereabouts are unknown. Mr. Zhang's wife, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Yuhua, died as a result of being persecuted by the Hulan County police in 2004.
  • The Persecution of Qu Lianxi and His Family Over the Past Twelve Years

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qu Lianxi was imprisoned and brutally persecuted for 10 years, after being arrested on August 29th, 2001. He was released on August 28th, 2011, but his previously happy family had already been torn apart due to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. During Qu Lianxi’s imprisonment, his wife Shi Guifen was arrested and detained five times, and also sent to a forced labour camp. His second oldest sister Qu Ping was arrested and detained six times, and sadly, in 2008, Qu Ping died due to the long term persecution.
  • Ms. Wan Xiaohui's Account of Her Persecution at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    I was taken to the eastern sector of the labour camp every day in mid-May, 2010. They tried to brainwash me by filling my mind with propaganda and telling me lies about Falun Gong. I was thrown into a cell and forced to listen to audio recordings defaming Falun Gong on an mp3 player. In late October 2010, the guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp began a new round of persecution. One morning in November, I was taken to the eastern sector, where they continued to bombard me with lies and propaganda. They used all sorts of ways to try to brainwash me. I was beaten, shouted at, forced to sit on a cold floor, and to kneel down for long periods of time. They also poured boiling water onto my neck.
  • Ms. Huang Duohong in Xiangtan City on a Hunger Strike for Nearly Two Months

    Hunan Province practitioner Ms. Huang Duohong has been on a hunger strike for nearly two months. She is emaciated and was at one point in a coma. Despite her poor health, 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents are still holding her at the Xiangtan City Detention Centre. In 2001, she was sent to the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp for two years for appealing against the persecution of Falun Gong. Guards mistreated her in many ways at the labour camp, including stuffing her mouth with dirty rags, slapping her face, kicking her lower body, stomping on her toes, and so on. She had pus and sores all over her body, which caused her great pain.
  • Mr. Tong Dingqing from Loudi in Hunan Province Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Tong Dingqing was a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official until he was dismissed from his job for practising Falun Gong. In June 2005, police broke into his home and ransacked it. He was then taken to Xinkaipu Forced Labour Camp in Changsha to serve a ten-month term, where he was tortured and injected with unknown drugs. The repeated arrests and harassment from authorities took a severe toll on Mr. Tong and family. He became completely paralysed in 2009, and his wife Wan Dong'e died of bone marrow cancer in September 2010. Mr Tong remained bedridden until he passed away in September 2011, when he was in his fifties.
  • Qingdao City Retired Physician Was Chased, Fell from the Top Floor and Died

    On October 7th, Ms. Zhang Jinghua, a retired physician, was intimidated and chased by two people for speaking with people about Falun Gong. Ms. Zhang ran to the fourth floor of a building. It was alleged that Ms. Zhang fell from the top floor while trying to avoid being seized. Ms. Zhang's family received a phone call from the hospital. When they got to the hospital, she was at death's door. At a little past 9:00 p.m. that night, she passed away. Her family couldn't believe this sudden and horrible turn of events.
  • Ms. Zhang Shuxia Sentenced to Forced Labour after Seven Years in Prison

    Ms. Zhang Shuxia has been in prison four times over seven years, and was tortured each time. As a result, she was tremendously harmed both physically and spiritually. On October 7th, in her own home, she was again arrested by the Chinese Communist Party. To her family, it appeared she had disappeared inexplicably. Her room was a mess and appeared to have been ransacked. Her family looked for her everywhere and then realized that she had been once again arrested and taken to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
  • Ms. Tian Lisha Arrested and Persecuted

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tian Lisha was arrested by police on June 14th, 2011. She was later sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour and sent to the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Zibo City. After talking with Ms. Tian over the phone at the labour camp, her attorney learned that she was being monitored and guarded by two inmates. They forced her to get up at 5 a.m. and she couldn't go to bed before 10 p.m. She was held in a dark, solitary cell and forced to sit on a small stool for long periods of time everyday. Wangcun Women's Forced Labour Camp is infamous for its cruel and inhumane treatment of practitioners. Many practitioners who were detained here suffered tortures such as “stewing the eagle,” brainwashing, etc. Some of them were beaten and forced to stand for a long time, put in solitary, or forced to do slave labour.
  • Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp Extended Mr. Chi Minbao's Term Twice

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chi Minbao has been detained in Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City for two years. His term expired in September, 2011, but the labour camp officials have extended his term twice. Mr. Chi was arrested in September 2009 by police He was sentenced to two years of forced labour. He was first taken to Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jilin City, and later transferred to Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City in the spring of 2011.
  • Chongqing Couple Zhang Quanliang and Liu Zhilan Arrested Again

    On October 11th, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Quanliang and his wife Ms. Liu Zhilan were arrested by police while on their way to work. Their whereabouts are unknown. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Liu's family has endured numerous arrests, trials, and forced labour. Ms. Liu's mother Ms. Gu was sentenced to three years in 2000; Ms. Liu was placed in a forced labour camp for one year in 2005; Mr. Zhang was placed in a forced labour camp for three years in 2000 and was severely tortured – nearly to death, resulting in the deafness of his right ear. He was arrested again in December 2005 and sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
  • Retired Post Office Worker Arrested

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qian Houbao, 68, was arrested on September 28th. A few days later his friends still hadn't found out where he was being held because Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities would not release the information. During the 2011 Chinese New Year, the police went to practitioners' homes one by one to photograph them without their consent. Now, almost all of the practitioners living in Chaoyang residential area have been photographed. When practitioners refused to cooperate with the police, the officers took to hiding near the gate of the residential area or near the practitioners' homes so they could take the photos secretly.
  • Ms. Liang Zuorong and Her Sister Arrested in Aershan City, Inner Mongolia

    Ms. Liang Zuorong and Ms. Liu Caixia were arrested on September 29th by police. Ms. Liang's sister, Liang Zuojuan, went to see policeman Chen Guodong to reason with him and ask for the return of 5,000 yuan that he extorted from them. Chen refused to admit any wrongdoing, but when Liang Zuojuan said she had two witnesses that saw him take the money, Chen just said, “This is the wrong place to talk about it,” and then left. On October 9th, Chen went to Liang Zuojuan's home eleven police officers and arrested her and her husband. The police ransacked her home but did not find any evidence that she was a Falun Gong practitioner.
  • Several Practitioners Arrested in Macheng City, Hubei Province

    On October 13th, several police station made a large-scale arrest of Falun Gong practitioners in Macheng City. They sent them to Macheng City Detention Centre. Around 10:00 p.m. someone called for Mr. Zhu Changkui outside of his home and Mr. Zhu's wife opened the door. About a dozen strangers broke into the house. They first seized Mr. Wu Shuangxi, who was visiting at the time, and took him downstairs. They ordered Mr. Zhu and his family not to move or speak. Then they ransacked the house and confiscated Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. After that, they took Mr. Zhu away.
  • Mr. Wan Shuqing Severely Beaten by Wang Chen in Jiamusi Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wan Shuqing was detained in the No. 5 Ward of Jiamusi Prison in Heilongjiang Province on September 22nd. He was severely beaten by political instructor Wang Chen, resulting in facial injuries and hearing loss in his left ear. He also experienced headaches and dizziness. When Mr. Wan told Wang Chen that it was against the law to beat him, Wang replied, “If you think that I'm violating the law, then sue me.” He then struck Mr. Wan's face several more times.
