The Persecution of Practitioners in Gansu Jiuquan Prison
2011-10-31The guards in Jiuquan Prison forced and encouraged convicts to take turns torturing practitioners by depriving them of sleep for long periods of time, shocking them with electric batons, hanging them up while in handcuffs, making them do manual labor, locking them in solitary confinement, verbally abusing them, pressuring them to write guarantee statements to give up the practice, and forcing them to watch programmes that slandered Falun Gong. -
Artist Mr. Si Deli Arrested Again, His Elderly Mother Grief-Stricken
2011-10-31Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Si Deli, an Associate Professor at the Shihe District Cultural Centre, was arrested on June 7th, 2011 by police and workplace staff. At present he is still detained at the Xinyang First Detention Centre. Mr. Si's mother, almost 100 years old, was grief stricken after the arrest. Because of practising Falun Gong, Mr. Si has been constantly persecuted by the 610 Office agents and officers from the Domestic Security Division. He was sentenced to forced labour twice and once to prison, where he endured brutal torture. -
Ms. Liu Fangping Forcibly Taken to Brainwashing Centre
2011-10-31On October 10th, police barged into Ms. Liu Fangping's workplace in an attempt to apprehend her. Ms. Liu's superior was opposed to the arrest and criticized the officers in hopes of deterring them. The officers withdrew without carrying out the arrest. On October 12th, the officers once again entered Ms. Liu's workplace with an order from the Political and Judiciary Committee. After pressuring her superior, they forcibly removed Ms. Liu. Ms. Liu was taken to the Wujiahuayuan Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Liu's husband is also being detained in Jinshi Prison. He was sentenced to serve three years detention in 2009. -
Mr. Sun Changjun, Imprisoned Nine Years for Intercepting Cable TV Broadcasts, In Need of Immediate Aid (Part 2)
2011-10-30Mr. Sun Changjun has endured many types of torture, including the Tiger Bench, electric shocks, fractured ribs and more. The long periods of torture have taken a severe toll on his health. He suffers from tuberculosis, pleural cavities as a result of his late-term tuberculosis, tuberculous peritonitis, pleural effusion and ascites (accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity, causing abdominal swelling). Authorities have refused to allow his release on bail for medical attention even though he is in immediate need of medical help. We implore the people of the world to speak up and be heard so that Mr. Sun Changjun can be immediately released from prison. -
The Police Persecutes Talented Practitioners and Sentences them to Additional Prison Terms During Forced Labour
2011-10-30Ms. Wang Chunrong, 65, is CEO of the Xincheng Accounting Firm in Dalian City. After she started practising Falun Gong, her firm didn't falsify accounts, and her employees are upright and have a good relationship. Her firm was highly regarded among clients and her business was on the rise. However, Ms. Wang Chunrong was arrested in August 2007 and Dalian Xincheng Accounting Firm was forcibly closed down. More than 30 practitioners were arrested on the same day. In September 2009, Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years and three months of forced labour and sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. In December 2009, the police transferred her to Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City. She was sentenced to three years in prison there, starting from the day she was taken to Yaojia Detention Centre. All the previous dates she had been detained didn't count. -
Ms. Zhao Baoli Is Innocent but the Court Refuses to Release Her Fearing Reprisal from 610 Office
2011-10-30Shuangqiao District Procuratorate in Chengde City, Hebei Province pressed charges against Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Baoli for producing Falun Gong DVDs and information materials. The court tried her three times, but failed to convict her. However, intimidated by the Chengde City 610 office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), the court is afraid to release her. -
Teacher Ms. Ye Liwei, from Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, Sent to Brainwashing Centre Again
2011-10-30Ms. Ye Liwei is a high school English language teacher at the Liangyang Secondary School, in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province. On September 15th, 2011, moments after she arrived at school, she was arrested by local police authorities and taken to the Sanshui Brainwashing Centre. She has been imprisoned there for over a month. Ms. Ye Liwei has always been a well-respected and favoured teacher among students and colleagues at Liangyang Secondary School. Ms. Ye had previously been arrested on January 2nd, 2010, for distributing flyers that exposed the truth behind the persecution of Falun Gong. She was detained in the Baisha Detention Centre. -
Mr. Sun Changjun, Imprisoned Nine Years for Intercepting Cable TV Broadcasts, In Need of Immediate Aid
2011-10-29It has been nearly 10 years since a small group of Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun (a large city in China's northeast) intercepted television broadcasts on March 5th, 2002, replacing them with content about Falun Gong and about the Communist suppression of Falun Gong. Five Falun Gong practitioners involved have been tortured to death. Another, Mr. Sun Changjun, only 26 years old at the time, has been imprisoned at Jilin Prison for nine years for his involvement. At one point the cruel torture nearly took his life. Mr. Sun Changjun has endured many types of torture, including the Tiger Bench, electric shocks, fractured ribs and more. The long periods of torture have taken a severe toll on his health. -
Mr. Liu Shaozai and Ms. Mai Weilian Detained; Family's Requests for Their Release Fall on Deaf Ears
2011-10-29Mr. Liu Shaozai and Ms. Mai Weilian were taken to a brainwashing centre in August 2011. They both developed serious illnesses. Ms. Mai developed a serious stomach ache, couldn't eat, and was vomiting. Mr. Liu had Hepatitis B-like symptoms and had bloody stools. Their families asked that they be released. The Dianbai County Police Department refused to release them. The two were transferred to the Dianbai County No. 1 Detention Centre. -
Guards Abuse Practitioners in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province
2011-10-29Ms. Miao Fenglan, a practitioner in her 60s, was tortured for three weeks in a cell specifically for torturing practitioners. Guards cuffed her hands and feet separately to the top and bottom of two beds and stretched her. She could not squat or stand. From time to time, the guards moved the beds apart. Ms. Miao's thick cotton-padded jacket was soon soaked with sweat. The guards unbuttoned her clothes, which made her extremely cold. She fainted. Several guards then dragged her from the fourth floor to the first floor. -

2011-10-29On August 2nd, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yuan Pingjun was arrested by police and taken to a brainwashing session. On August 11th, Ms. Yuan's husband, Zhang Yundong, was notified that Ms. Yuan had died in the session that day. Mr. Zhang went to the detention centre. He saw his wife on the ground, dead, with an egg-sized hole in the back of her head that was still bleeding. First, the brainwashing session people told Mr. Zhang that Ms. Yuan fell from the fifth floor. Then they revised their statement and said that Ms. Yuan committed suicide. How did Ms. Yuan really die? The government is purposely blocking the truth. -
Ms. Qiu Yuxia Shackled to Ground Rings and Tortured During Incarceration
2011-10-28Ms. Qiu Yuxia was arrested on July 2nd, 2008 and incarcerated for three years. During the incarceration, she was forced to do hard labour, was shackled to ground rings and handcuffed to a bed for two weeks. She recounts: "Deputy director Yu led several guards and shackled me to ground rings with all four limbs stretched out. They then forcibly gave me injections and force fed me with drugs, despite my resistance. My blood pressure was getting higher and I was in a critical condition." Ms. Qiu was released on July 1st, 2011. -
Exposing the Crimes of Panjiawan Brainwashing Centre in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province
2011-10-28According to recent updates, as of August 2011, 30 practitioners were arrested and persecuted in Panjiawan Brainwashing Centre. Practitioners were deceived, coerced, put through physical ordeals, and otherwise tortured to try to force them into writing statements promising not to practise Falun Gong. Practitioners are forced to stand and/or walk for long periods, and brutally beaten every day. Some are tied to metal chairs with their hands and legs in shackles. They are also deprived of sleep. Others are forbidden from going to the toilet, not given any water on hot days when the temperatures reach over 30 degrees, and fed meagre rations. -
Mr. Liu Yongjin Beaten Repeatedly in Tai'an Prison
2011-10-28Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Yongjin was arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison. He was taken to Tai'an Prison on June 18th, 2008 and has been subjected to torture ever since. He was beaten repeatedly for a week. In June 2011, Mr. Liu was incarcerated in the No. 1 Ward and considered as one of their main targets of its "Breaking the Steadfast Ones" initiative to force those with strong faith in Falun Gong to renounce their beliefs. In order to fulfil their tasks, the monitoring personnel beat and kicked Mr. Liu. As a result, Mr. Liu had many bruises on his body and face and had difficulty walking. The guards gave term reductions to those inmates who joined the persecution effort. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured in Fuzhou Women’s Forced Labour Camp Because They Refused to “Report”
2011-10-28Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Linfen is in her 50s. Because she refused to follow the “report” rule, the guards would not let her wash herself for 12 days. They also took all her toilet paper and wouldn’t let her empty the chamberpot in her cell even though it was full. After being subjected to sleep deprivation for an entire night, Ms. Chen was forced to sit still on a small wooden bench with her legs together, her back straight, her hands on her knees, and she was forbidden move. Every day she was forced to sit this way for at least 12 hours. Sometimes the guards also forced her to stand still for extended periods of time.
